Odd as it may seem, this movie helped me get out of a deep, dark hole a few years back, and a huge part of that was due to the performance by one @angelatrimbur . She is absolutely stunning in this criminally underrated gem of a film, exhibiting an unparrallelled amount of uninhibited bravery I have yet to see matched in modern cinema. Is she funny? Of course. But is she equally inspiring? You better gosh-darn believe it! This talented lady is due for a lot of love, especially in the present, so give her a follow, leave her a like, or just somehow let her know that she is awesome.

So my best friend of 17 years started making a movie last summer. He also happens to be the writer/director and my boyfriend.

Fine. I can accept that The Spectacular Now didn't get enough mainstream attention to warrant any Oscar nominations, even though it rightfully should have been nominated for - let's face it - EVERYTHING. But, now that there's a trailer for the eagerly-anticipated big screen adaptation of John Green's wonderful YA novel The Fault in Our Stars, can we finally throw some Best Actress action Shailene Woodley's way?! If The Spectacular Now taught us anything, it's that she is the only thespian allowed to play a teenage girl (yes, I said ONLY). Now, she has to get cancer to gain some traction with Academy voters? I mean, the movie hasn't even come out yet and I'm already thinking we should garner this girl with some well-deserved statues!

It's official. Female Chris Carrabba with a banjo has now made me a country music fan.

I realize I am drastically and insanely behind the nerd curve in that I am just now watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I like to think this clip made me weep just as hard as it did the true believers back in '97. Sarah Michelle Gellar's performance here is heartbreaking and, even though it's 17 years after the fact, someone in charge should give her some kind of award or, at least, a Twitter shout-out.

I can't sing enough praises about the genius that is Bo Burnham. Stand-up comedian. Musical composer. Performance artist. Whatever you want to label him...

You know what? This song speaks for itself. If you don't "get it," that's fine. Just know that the big guy would have shed a mightily proud tear. And no, I'm not referring to Him.
