Conventional Poem
(noun)
/Ëven(t)-shÉ-ná”l - ËpĆ-Ém/
âą Writing a poem where every single words must fit perfectly just like how the shoe perfectly fits Cinderella.
âą Rain will pour in your palms as you write, making sure you would not miss a count.
âą The feels of needing a binoculars to look through each words as if one wrong word and youâre dead.
Seventeen
Behind the mall, there stood our holy ground, The place I waited your Nissan to honk. An hour thirty, and I'll hear the sound, Forgetting the wait befalling me sunk.
You take me to your house, just by the sea, The crisp, salt air liked to dance in my lung. Too young then, too stupid just to see, No name in your locket, studded and hung.
Dizzy, I felt; drunk every time we kiss, As if I'd sipped from a bottle of wine. That was then, what I always thought was bliss, 'Till you slipped away, you were never mine.
Barefoot and young, waiting behind the mallâ Back when I lived for the hope of it all.

Looking Back
I look back with a smile on my face Remnants of daisies on a summer eve A sweet child of innocence and grace Reeks of sweat and sunburns as I leave
I look back with sparkles in my eyes Friendships and memories flashback Dancin' in the rain, looking at the skies Blindly, the time seems to lose track
I look back with melody in my ears Choirs in church as I sit with family Bells in Christmas, carols, and cheers Have we ever lost this symphony?
I look back to those moments of yesterday And ask myself, why did I let it slip away?

Unconventional Poem
(noun)
/Én-kÉn-Ëvench-nÉl - ËpĆ-Ém /
âą Just let your hands lead the way as you have the power to write anything and on how it should look like.
âą The moment where you started writing and then the next thing you know, you are already building a house.
âą Isn't silly? You are reading me now.
Looking Forward
Visions of bliss, of mind in tranquility Friendships amid the storm and solstice Fulfilled yet eager to seek truth and justice Looking forward, this is what I hope to be
In my heart, engraved is a genuine smile Blessed with stability, I am full of gratitude Always grateful for the path that I pursued Looking forward, everything is worth the while

In the brink of August, you call my name, To meet you outside that evening on my porch The lights were off, and all was dim, But sparks flew when I saw you smile.
You take me to a tennis court, dressed in vibrant pastel, It was swallowed by this huge, tent-like thing, And as Lana sang, you asked me to dance.
I said to you then, 'Dancing is a dangerous game'; So that night, we rode like daredevils.
We end up far, in the middle of nowhere, With no one else to watch us but Andromeda I'm a Sag sun, and a Scorpio moonâ That ended up in a stark Virgo's arms.
I know, I know, you're not my type, But I plummet to the ground to an utter of your name; I'm your swooning, sensitized, sweetheart, Swirling in your sacred Stockholm, Kept in this archaic house of stone, Crawling with your fragrant thyme.
I think I see a lifetime, hung by the stars in your eyes, And I think your face will be the last thing I'll see when I die.
I know it's still early to say, when we've only coalesced for two turning three quarters, but I'm never gonna love again. I've been broken by boys I believed in, Shattered by sentences when I was seventeen,Â
But after that ten-year, bleak, blackout, I think I'll see daylightâ Cradled in the cracks of your fingertips, about to taint golden the colors of my tomorrow

Flash Fiction
(noun)
/Ëflash - Ëfik-shÉn /
This is the type of short-story you would expect to find in a glossy magazine, often used to fill one page of quick romance.
It can make you laugh, squirm in discomfort, or feel an unexpected torrent of emotion that could be squeezed into such a few paragraphs.
Weâre Once a Perfect Two
They were once the rain or shine couple, the cat and dog duo, and the ham and cheese pair that everyone dreamed of to have their perfect match relationship. They were the famous perfect two that everyone loved. Unfortunately, they were, as said by many, not until he died.
It was a peaceful Friday night, but then, all were shocked by the unexpected news, "Luke died.", said nonplussed by Alli, his girlfriend, as she delivered it to her family. She didn't know how to react, for she only knew that his boyfriend was just resting later that morning. And that terrible news hit her; as soon as she realized it, a struck in her heart gave her eyes a signal to cry out loud.
That was Alli's most hopeless time. She barely ate food and drank water that made her sick a million times. All she did was cry multiple times and felt that there was no ending for the pain she had experienced. The day she lost the love of her life was also the day she lost interest to live her beautiful life. Understandable for a girl who lived most of her life with her partner. It was a veritably sudden change in her life.
"Did you not trust me enough? Did I not deserve to know the truth after all the years we've been through? I hated you, but this hate never lasted even just a day, for my love for you was as big as the universe."
Luke thought that he was lucky to be loved by someone as big as the universe. But he knew this feeling needed to be invalidated, for he became unfair to his better half. That's why he chose not to leave the world so he could roam around and check his girl every day. He regretted it so much. His heart was shattered into pieces every time he saw the suffering, he gave to Alli. The amount of pain he gave was not forgivable for him even if he tried to convince himself to accept that it was all done. He knew that he couldn't go back and change the past he chose to have for both of them.
"I was sorry, my love, for my decision in the first place was not good for the both of us. I should have told you so that you could ready yourself, but I chose not to. I was selfish to thought about that not telling you the true reason saved you from the pain. I was wrong all along."
Years passed since the day Luke was gone. Alli was slowly moving forward and tried to accept the fact that his guy was gone. After some time, she thought that Luke never had an intention to hurt her. She tried to find new interests that could help her fight for her loneliness, that could help her to be happy again. That's when she knew she had an interest in music, which made her join the most famous musical group in the Philippines. She found her new happiness there, the music, but she didn't know that she'd also found there her new reason to believe in love.
Because of her newfound reason to be happy again in a romantic way, she recovered from the pain she'd experienced for the past years. She was delightfully happy; that's why he also chose to be happy for her.
"My love, this would be the day that I'm ready to love someone new. I knew that you wouldn't be mad nor sad for me, but I certainly knew that you would be hurt, that's why I'm sorry. I knew all along that you're still here, for I felt it. This would be your signal to rest in paradise, my love. I loved and will always love you as my first one, but I hope that you'd understand that I wanted him to be my last one."
Luke was there; he was always there. From the moment that Alli had suffered from the pain because of his loss, to her slowly moving forward, to the times she went and joined the musical group, and at last, from the time she chose to be happy again. He was so happy for her love that he couldn't help but cry as if anyone would be able to see his crystal tears. But besides the feeling of being genuinely happy for someone else, he couldn't hide the truth that he was hurt bitterly, for someone new already captured the heart of his love. Nevertheless, he chose to accept that her lover was already in love with someone else for the sake of her being happy.
With this, Luke knew that this would be the reason at long last to rest with the Creator. That was the day he knew that it would be his last time in the world, for he already successfully made his mission.
"As you bent down on your knees, you promised to take care of her. I saw her smiled, a smile that was seen within her eyes. I realized that she didn't have to choose between the two of us, for she both loved us, but in my case, I am the past, and you were her present. The moment you caressed her cheeks and kissed her forehead, her expression changed so lovingly, as if she was telling me that she was safe now. I am now ready to leave, for I knew she was at peace, and now so was I."
Things were tough for both Luke and Alli, but the idea of acceptance helped them to move forward in their lives. They were once the "perfect two" couple, the one that was loved by many and the one that everyone took inspiration from. It was a sad reality, but at least they became happy.

Fateâs Fugitive
Are sirens always this loud?
Since when did the blue and red lights become this blinding?
Alejo knows exactly what it is, although he wishes he doesnât. The ambulance, the police, the curious eyes of the passersby beyond the yellow tape, as if it is enough to shield them from the horrifying scene unfolding right before their eyes.
Deaths in this place are not always natural. More often than not, people die in the hands of the tyrannic dynasty of the Monserrates. They proclaim themselves as gods, worthy of taking away the lives of many.
âTonight is a dark night for the people of the Philippines,â Alejo knows better than to assume that the reporter cared for the people, because here, nothing is as important as their rulers. Not one soul. â...as another attempt was made to endanger the lives of the Monserrate family. A woman in her mid-twenties trespassed within the premises of the Malacañang Palace. The guards on duty claim that they had no choice but to fire after the woman wielded a gun. Is this but another measly attempt to end the glorious reign of the family?â
A woman in her mid-twenties. The exact words where he stopped listening happens to play in his mind like a broken tape. It is barely a phrase, but enough to cancel out everything around him. Just like that, his ears block out the ringing sound of the sirens. His eyes could no longer bother with the blinding lights.
What are the odds? They must be very low. Just how many women are within that range? Probably a lot. He is Alejo Monserrate, a child prodigy, entrusted to someday become the president of the country. His grandfather views him as the golden child for a reason. He is rational, always has been. Just not right now.
All rational thoughts flew out the window as he mutes everything out except the creeping fear infiltrating his system. His pulse is rapidly beating faster than ever. He swears that the wind has never been this cold before. Neither has he been this terrified.
Alejo, coming from a family believed to be invincible, is scared to death. He drags his feet across the floor, as if he knows that the moment he lays eyes on the bloodshed, his world is going to crumble into pieces beyond salvation, that he cannot fix with his own hands.
For some reason, in the middle of his turmoil, he is reminded of a folktale from Visayas. There was once a god who, by his own fault, was separated from his goddess who never came back again, leaving him alone for all eternity. âI would never be that god,â he once swore.
At long last, Alejo stops walking when he finally reaches the crime scene.
People die. People die everyday because of his family. He is no Pontius Pilate, he admits that the blood of the killers runs in his veins. He just never saw this coming. The next word that comes out of Alejoâs mouth is the name of the goddess from the folktale.
âAlunsina.â
Alejo marveled at the introduction of the woman in front of him. Before he even had the chance to respond, Alunsina spoke again, this time, with a voice laced with desperation. âForgive me for coming so close to you! I wouldnât do it again. I have to send money to my family. Please, good sir, they will starve if I donât!â
Earlier that day, Alunsinaâs curiosity got the best of her and tried to go past the guards of this particular man just to take a better look. âHow can one person have so many eyes on him?â were her exact thoughts at that moment. As soon as she was in the same room with that very man, Alejo Monserrate, she knew the answer to her question. What she did not realize, is that out of the many eyes that have laid on Alejo, hers were his favorite.
Is she getting killed? The thought made her shiver. âPlease, just kill me after I make sure that my family eats for the next three days! I promise you, sir, that I will not run.â The thing is, nothing scared her more than the uncertainty of having food served on her familyâs table for tomorrow and the days after that.
Alejoâs mouth went agape, not believing the sight of the beautiful, begging woman in front of him. It was this time when he decided to never let Alunsina beg for anything, ever again. She was meant for the finer things and Alejo came with all those finer things.
âI am Alejo. If I hadnât taken you with me here, who knows what my guards could have done to you? What you pulled off was dangerous.â That was the very first of many times that Alejo protected her.
From that moment on, the two found a way to trust each other. Of course, Alunsina was wary of him at the start, given that his family has made hers suffer for generations. She just didnât expect Alejo to drop everything he has ever known and plan a coup d'etat against the family who raised him. They knew Alejo was going to be branded as a traitor, but it was a risk he was willing to take.
All for Alunsina. Just so she would never be in harmâs way again.
âWait for me, and donât leave this place until I say so. I am coming back for you, my love. That is my promise.â Alejo is once again reminded of his last words to her. Now, with just a week left before overthrowing his family, he wishes he had said more.
How could he not see it coming?
âAlunsina.â he whispers the name of the goddess in the folktale, which also happens to be the name of the woman lying cold in her own blood in the Malacañang Palace grounds that Alejo once called home.
Itâs her. It really is her. There is no mistaking it. Alunsina, so innocent and sweet, would never touch a gun, but here she is, lying with one.
âAlunsina!â
His scream of grief reaches the heavens, it might have been heard by the wandering goddess who never came back, thinking it is for her. Paying no mind to the watchful eyes of everyone around, Alejo closes the distance, taking her in his arms, but it is not his Alunsina any longer, because if it is her, she would have already returned the warmth of an embrace.
They had to be reminded that the moment she was born in poverty, the game of tag started against fate. She was always meant to concede to her fateâto also die in the hands of the Monserrates who have killed countless of her people.
Alunsina has always been fateâs fugitive, and it has finally caught up to her. âI just wanted to keep you longer. We were going to run as fast as we could. I was going to do everything to make sure they never get to you.â Alejo says like a prayer, wishing for a response that a corpse can never give.

One-Act Play
(noun)
/ËwÉn-Ë Â akt - ËplÄ/
The wine-red curtains draw back, revealing shadowy figures barely visible in the dimmed theaterâquite the contrast from the blinding glow illuminated by the limelight above.
The exact moment where one truly embodies another, playing by the lines of the script and encapsulating a new persona with such depth. Like a character jumping out from the book itself.
Where a new world emerges right through your very eyes and a tale told in a single moment. Dare to blink, and you might just miss it.
