oh yeah, people really shouldn’t be using other artists images for blog graphics/icon without permission from the original artist
a lot of western artists don’t really care but a lot of japanese artists do (actually people on japanese side rarely use icons from random artists…most of the time if they didn’t draw it themselves they got it from a friend). I don’t want to be like the only voice speaking for the whole of japanese artists considering I’m not one but I haven’t seen anything saying this anywhere else lol…..I know using icons by random artists is common on tumblr and so most tumblr artists don’t mind but….it’s different

I’ve seen many Japanese artists who were really really sad because they kept on getting followed by western users who had random artists or even their own art as their icon. USING IT AS YOUR ICON IS JUST AS BAD AS REPOSTING!!!! Please understand
im japanese and yeah i can confirm i have a lot of artist friends who are not okay with people using their art as icons, me included. it’s really not that hard to ask beforehand, all japanese people know a little english at least to know what you’re talking about, and if they don’t answer, just assume it’s a damn no.
