Tease the Season!
The Summer of Riley
Helped my nephew Eyan with his summer reading project - create a movie trailer for the book The Summer of Riley.
BOOK REVIEW (From School Library Journal): With the recent death of his grandfather and his parents' decision to separate, 11-year-old William struggles with his grief and anger until an abandoned Lab comes into his life. Boy and dog bond immediately, but then William takes him to visit a neighbor. Without warning, Riley breaks away and begins to chase Peachie's old racehorse, causing injury to him. When the dog runs over to her farm again, she calls the animal-control officers and they take Riley away. Determined to save his pet from a possible death sentence, William begins a publicity campaign to vie for the townspeople's sympathies.

Less Miserable - Split Screen (Les Misérables Movie Trailer Parody)
Less Miserable' parody video showcases S.F. City Attorney's Check 'n Go refund drive A viral video parody of the trailer for the Oscar®-nominated film "Les Misérables" premiered at a film industry screening theater, representing the latest tactic in an innovative social media campaign to identify and educate online Check 'n Go borrowers who may be entitled to significant refunds for interest, fees and finance charges. The parody video draws parallels between travails of the 19th Century French working class famously depicted in the original novel, stage and film versions of "Les Misérables" with modern day financial challenges like unexpected medical bills and auto repairs, which can force today's consumers to turn to online and storefront lenders with exorbitant (and even illegal) interest rates. The indignities and injustices of post-revolutionary France are updated to reflect contemporary predatory lending practices, and iconic "Les Misérables" characters like Fantine, Cosette, Marius and Jean Valjean find their 21st Century counterparts as consumers whom cruel fate has pushed into crushing debt. Redemption -- the dominant theme of Victor Hugo's 1862 novel and its subsequent adaptations -- is offered in the form of a web address: www.caloanrefund.org. There, Check 'n Go borrowers can watch and share the online parody video, learn more about their eligibility for refunds, download claim forms, and get instructions to file claims in advance of the March 28, 2013 deadline.

GovGirl: Can Government Do Viral Video?
Most videos produced by government agencies don't get many views. Kristy talks with the creators of a new video parody of the popular "Call Me Maybe" music video. The City of San Francisco's version, "Pay Me Maybe", was produced by the City Attorney's Office to publicize a hotline number to call for information on repament eligibility of payday loans from a recent court ruling.
Kristy chats with Jen Drake and Luke Stowe via Google Hangout.
