Magic power prop ideas for cosplay!
First 2 sets of photos: PETG thermoplastic heat-shaped. LED berry lights. Diffused light with tracing paper and sanding the plastic. Tutorial: http://www.therpf.com/f9/magic-power-prop-tutorial-233092/ 3rd set: Heat-shaped PETG strips to form a half-sphere structure to support organza, all attached together by tape. The most vivid sheen swirls in the bottom left photo were created by a torch. Last photo: Comparison of 2 different types of organza fabric. Type on the left was used in the 3rd set of photos, I later found a better organza with a more vivid sheen (it was labelled ‘dance organza’).

Ancient Alphabets. Thedan Script - used extensively by Gardnerian Witches Runic Alphabets - they served for divinatory and ritual purposes, as well as the more practical use; there are three main types of Runes; Germanic, Scandinavian/Norse, and Anglo-Saxon and they each have any number of variations, depending on the region from which they originate Celtic and Pictish - early Celts and their priests, the Druids, had their own form of alphabet known as “Ogam Bethluisnion”, which was an extremely simple alphabet used more for carving into wood and stone, than for general writing, while Pictish artwork was later adopted by the Celts, especially throughout Ireland Ceremonial Magick Alphabets - ”Passing the River”, ”Malachim” and ”Celestial” alphabets were used almost exclusively by ceremonial magicians
Reblogging for future reference, I love learning how to write in these alphabets.
As a kid i used to write in the Anglo-saxon runes in my travel journal. I can still translate it pretty well CX

"What were you wearing?"
I wore a red dress to work today. It has a zipper at either side of my chest that can unzip and reveal a thin strip of skin. A coworker, without warning, tried pulling at the zipper and when it wouldn’t zip, instead revealed a good portion of my collarbone and shoulder as well as my bra strap. An hour later, the same coworker came up and told me to not wear clothes with zippers because he’ll go right ahead and unzip them. I shot back that unzipping me without my permission is sexual harassment. Apparently a manager heard and berated my coworker. At the end of my shift, my coworker told me that my little comment got him in trouble and that he no longer feels comfortable saying anything to me other than “hello” and “goodbye.”
I am supposed to feel guilty for pointing out that he can’t lay his fucking hands on me.
So I wore the infamous dress at work yesterday and ANOTHER MALE COWORKER DECIDED TO PULL AT ONE OF MY FUCKING ZIPPERS. We were surrounded by other (also male) coworkers (that did nothing) and I swatted his hand away while promptly informing him that he didn’t have permission to touch me.
He then asked, since he knows I cosplay, if it would be any different if I wore a revealing costume. I gave him a dirty look and told him that no matter what *I* decide to wear, no one is allowed “to lay a finger on me unless they want my foot up their ass.”
Being that I’m quite professional at work, they were all surprised by my language and the ferocity with which I spat my promise.
you fucking go girl
I forget sometimes that people are stupid. This post both gives me hope for the future and dread for the future. May you with the zipper win out in the future so that proper behaviour continues forward instead of idiocy!
Excerpt from Dr. Harleen Quinzel's Autobiography "Jokesters"
"I first met "Mistah Jay" or "The Joker" in Arkham Asylum in Gotham where I was interning, when he was transferred there after being caught for the first time by "The Batman." I could immediately see that this poor soul was wrought with a great deal of psychological problems, from strange forms of insanity, bipolar disorder, bouts of schizophrenia, and a whole host of other problems that one person couldn't hope to diagnose and treat in just a few sessions. It would take years to properly treat the problems inherent in "The Joker" with both therapy and prescription medications, but I was more than prepared for this. It really didn't take more than a couple of sessions with "The Joker" to see that he was highly intelligent and tried to be very manipulative. He saw me not as an equal but a lesser mind that he could mould and use to his advantage. It wasn't difficult to see past his honeyed words and compliments to his true intentions. He was a lonely, pitiful creature and I couldn't help but feel bad for him, but I knew that I couldn't get too attached, or that I could let those feelings affect me. I saw that he was very dangerous however, and I knew very quickly that it wouldn't be long before he'd escape to reign terror once more on Gotham. While he was a cold, ruthless killer that revelled in chaos, he wasn't even close to the worst of the things that came to Gotham, and I saw an opportunity arise. I could get right into the mind of the criminal supervillains that we saw in Gotham, and perhaps find the most effective way to treat them. I created a beta personality to his alpha, and deferred to him soon, hoping to ingrain myself into his world so that he would take me with him when he would escape. My journey into the dark, seedy underbelly of the criminal world was about to start that very soon."
An AU (or maybe headcanon) where Harley is actually playing the Joker the entire time so that she can write a book based on her experience with a criminal supervillain, almost like in a Jane Fonda sort of way.

The 20 Most Important Shower Thoughts of 2014
According to the laws of physics, a planet in the shape of a doughnut (toroid) could exist. Physicist Anders Sandberg says that such planets would have very short nights and days, an arid outer equator, twilight polar regions, moons in strange orbits and regions with very different gravity and seasons.

petition to turn the earth into a fucking doughnut
THE STORY POTENTIAL FOR THIS IS AMAZING YOU COULD HAVE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CIVILIZATIONS SEPARATED BY DESERT ON THE OUTSIDE AND AN PERMANENT NIGHT-WINTER ON THE INSIDE YOU COULD (WITH A LITTLE FUDGING ON TIDES OR SOME STABILIZATION FORCE) HAVE MOONS THAT GO THROUGH THE FUCKING HOLE, WITH LUNAR-POWERED SORCERERS LIVING ON THE INNER EQUATOR IN GIANT ICE CASTLES WAITING FOR THE TIME OF THE MONTH WHEN THE MOON ILLUMINATES THE ETERNAL NIGHTTIME AND THEIR SPELLS HAVE THE MOST POWER
YOU COULD HAVE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT SPECIES THAT EVOLVED ON OPPOSITE SIDES WHO ARE BASICALLY ALIENS ON THE SAME PLANET AND WHOEVER CROSSES THE GIANT DESERT OR ARCTIC CIRCLE (HEH) MAKES FIRST CONTACT
THIS IS SO COOL
THIS IS SO COOL
I WANT TO RUN FIFTY THOUSAND GAMES ON WORLDS LIKE THIS HOLY FUCK
THIS JUST IN IF I’M UNDERSTANDING THE MAGNETIC FIELDS CORRECTLY I THINK THE ETERNAL NIGHT ICE REALM WILL HAVE NEAR-CONSTANT ELECTRICAL STORMS
