can we talk about how one of the most emblematic figures of the mexican traditional music is a man who loved both men and women,  a man who didn’t care if the press caught him with another man, a man who was so blatantly feminine and proud of it, a man who always put first the career of women singers before his own, a man who made a homophobic society to dance and sing-along songs that talked about gay love for decades, a man who literally never fit into the macho narrative of a music genre that like most music genres around the world are usually reserved for hyper masculine men and hetero love stories yet he owned it.

I really like how Usagi handles it. She’s not undermining the girl’s feelings and she’s taking her seriously. And while she doesn’t reciprocate, she offers her friendship instead of just brushing the girl off and going “ew, gay weirdo!” Sailor Moon really did empower women and sexuality, and this is one of the many scenes that showcases that.
