I'm coming up on 6 months locced and im still so glad I did it I'm obsessed with having locs I love reties and watching the interlocking pattern disappear over time it's so cool. my only issue is my hair was supremely damaged pre-install from colouring and heat. I only had like 2-3 inches of healthy untouched hair at the root and everything else was garbage (especially in the front of my hair) and this is what it looked like last month.

but I was so sick of the stringy heat damaged ends that were never going to loc so last week I chopped off the most egregious ends lol I'm talking like 5 inches of hair in some areas aaaaaand now I have a mullet lol. and while this length and style isn't really my... style, I'm forcing myself to wear it out daily because I love having locs and I can't be bothered to hide my hair away until it's at a length I'm more comfortable with so! loc mullet for the next year or so

it's kinda cool though, you can see on the loc where my natural hair ends and the heat and colour damaged hair begins. anyway, yay for locs!
