Interviewer: “What was it like wearing all that makeup?”
Tim Curry: “Hot [laughs] and boring because you always had to keep getting it together again.”
I: “I suppose it was worse in the film, was it? Than the stage?
”TC: “Well no, it’s much easier in the film because there’s two people whizzing around making sure that it looks alright, so you don’t have to bother about it really. It was difficult for the film because of continuity; it always has to look exactly the same as the day before, to look continuous with the day’s shooting before, so it used to take about two hours every day, which was awful because you had to be there at half past six in the morning to get it right. In the film it was designed, the makeup was sort or redesigned, by Pierre La Roche who did it very kind of high fashion, which meant that it had to be incredibly sort of detailed and right. I mean in the theatre I just used to kind of stick it on with a trowel really - I mean it wasn’t defined in the same way as it was in the film.”
- It’s often misquoted that Tim Curry designed and applied his own makeup during the filming of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. Here we see the continuity shots taken by the team of makeup artists on hand throughout the film to keep his makeup continuously perfect.

Ten Favorite Movies (2/10) ╚ CLUE (1985) dir. Jonathan Lynn
Well, someone's got to break the ice, and it might as well be me. I mean, I'm used to being a hostess, it's part of my husband's work. And it's always difficult when a group of new friends meet together for the first time, to get acquainted. So I'm perfectly prepared to start the ball rolling. I mean, I-I have absolutely no idea what we're doing here. Or what I'm doing here, or what this place is about, but I am determined to enjoy myself. And I'm very intrigued, and, oh my, this soup's delicious, isn't it?

I LOVE Frank's accent so muchhh, just the way he pronounces things scratches an itch in my brain
tim curry this is your cue to tell us the story about how you got frank n furters accent on a bus in london for the millionth time 🙏
Watching the movie so much, I’ve noticed he pronounces his E’s as A’s, and his A’s as E’s (like BRED AND ROCKAY)
I don’t really care for Eddie’s character but omg Hot Patootie and Eddie (songs) are so goood

The opening of The Rocky Horror Show was amongst the most magical experiences I've been privileged enough to witness [...] From the first moment, the production was greeted with more joy and appreciation than we could have imagined. The audience got it. They were immediately part of the zany, surreal, nostalgic experience. There was real magic, and it felt supernatural, as none of us were certain if the viewers were going to get it at all - it seemed equally likely that they would just walk out. I felt like my light had been illuminated. I was beaming. My engine was running.
Tim Curry's thoughts on the opening night of The Rocky Horror Show, extracted from his autobiography, Vagabond: A Memoir (2025).
Footage shows Curry as Frank'n'Furter in the actual stage show circa 1974., which belong to the recent documentary 'Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror' (2025).
