He studies her then, those dark, doe-like eyes roving across her face. She lets him, stills herself and meets his gaze. The awe will not leave her, and the echoing memory of this precise scenario in the cellar presses against her: she, drinking him in, a testament to glory she cannot fully comprehend but recognizes at once; he, looking down at her beatifically, untrammeled by hesitation or the architecture of social graces that would deny them such communion.

When coming up with a list of animals to include I ended up with over twenty of them, and had to pare it down considerably. I'll likely revisit this in future versions to include more. Especially more of the birds.

Having the most agonising thoughts of Maul as a force ghost, his soul bound to Tatooine, still lingering, not having let go of the pain and grief he felt towards Sidious.

He encounters Obi-Wan later on (post New Hope) who finds him there wandering the desert. Instead of the rage Maul felt towards him when he was alive, he now finds solace in his company. They spend time talking about the past, how their lives were shaped, how things could have been different. As the years begin to pass, Obi-Wan occasionally tells Maul how Luke and the rebellion are progressing.

Then one day, he tells Maul that Sidious has finally fallen at the hands of Vader and the empire has been defeated. Maul turns towards the twin suns, smiles and then looks back at Obi-Wan, tears of relief begin to well up in his eyes.

''Thank you, Obi-Wan... for everything'' before he closes his eyes, letting a few tears drop and slowly fades away, finally at peace.
