criticism is not hate speech. yet if any actor in this fandom is called out for their behaviour, people start throwing around the term, “hate”. they’re not the same thing. stop treating them as such.

j2 rape joke? what happened?

there are some accounts of the situation going around on tumblr, but here’s an article i found after a quick google. just an fyi, i wasn’t at the con, so i don’t have a firsthand account.

seeing people defend j2’s rape joke with the whole “people make mistakes” and “people are too sensitive these days” ignores the fact that only last week jensen was participating in the #metoo conversation, which just screams hypocrisy. also that j2 have been actively involved with people’s continuing recovery from mental health issues. some of those fans may have suffered sexual assault and trauma in their lifetime. yes, maybe they didn’t intend to upset anyone. but intent doesn’t outweigh consequence.

it was insensitive. they should apologise.
