Day 5 asks us to write about: “Describe what solitude is to you.”

This past week, we have journaled about loneliness, aloneness, and solitude. Today, we are just journaling about solitude and being alone.

Referring back to the other journal entries that asked you what you thought about loneliness and solitude, we will use our existing ideas to break down further and introduce solitude to us.

Do you remember a time when you gave up? You finally accepted something for what it is, despite your hopes for the latter. How did it feel to accept something in its authenticity?

Was there ever a time you realized something so small actually had a significant impact on you and your current mindset? How was that shift?

Have you ever sat with yourself and thought, “I am not perfect”? Did you ever just sit with all your flaws, imperfections, things you wish to change, and your mean thoughts? How was that moment?

Authenticity and Realization are two of the few components that make up our awareness and perception of the world.

If you can accept and acknowledge it, you can be content with your being.

We are starting February’s 28-Day Journal Entry Challenge with Day 4 asking: “Describe a time you felt lonely and a time you felt at peace with yourself.”

Day 4 asks us to write about: “Describe a time you felt lonely and a time you felt at peace with yourself.”

Do you remember a time you felt completely comfortable with your own space and company? A time where you didn’t mind the silence or the noise as long as it was your own?

Or how about a time when you were uncomfortable or felt unsafe alone? Maybe you had just lost yourself and you felt numbly.

Today we are journaling about those moments, even if we aren’t there anymore, or if we are currently there. The goal of the prompt is to help bring awareness to your current state.

For each moment, in solitude and loneliness, we will journal the same 5 sub-sections:

1. When was this moment (a specific season, a day, a year, an age, etc)?

2. Where was I in life at this time (in school, graduating, married, just had first kid, major life event, etc)?

3. When did I realize I was in this state (loneliness/solitude)?

4. What was/is it like here (describe how solitude/loneliness was once you realized you were in it)?

5. How do I view that moment now?

What these sub-sections do is help further break down the original question.

Journal these sub-sections and the original question and don’t forget to be honest with yourself and your feelings afterwards.♡

Day 3 asks us to write about: “Is it difficult for you to be alone?”

Following Day 2’s prompt on the differences between solitude and loneliness, today’s prompt is asking us if it is difficult for us to be by ourselves and to Journal what that could mean for us.

As we learned from yesterday’s prompt, being alone and feeling lonely are two different things, yet they are one and the same.

When you’re alone, it is just you.

When you’re lonely, the state of being alone saddens you. Solitude can be regarded as the comfort or satisfaction with being alone.

Is it difficult for you to be alone? Are you uncomfortable when you’re out by yourself, even when you carry self-defense tools?

Do you find yourself always in some sort of romantic affair, or trying to look for someone, even if you know it won’t last?

Sometimes we can’t stand to be alone because we grew up with lots of people in our lives and the silence doesn’t feel right. Some of us may have abandonment issues and we result to loneliness out of pushing people away, or our clinginess.

If it is hard for you to be alone, Journal about your reasons why and how being alone makes you feel. If you’re content with being alone, Journal about how you got to this point, and how you’d advise yourself to be comfortable earlier.♡

Day 2 asks us to write about: “Do you feel there’s a difference between loneliness and solitude?”

What’s the difference between being alone and being lonely? Is there a difference?

Today’s prompt is asking us to Journal about the difference between solitude and loneliness.

By definition, solitude is the state of being alone, and loneliness is defined as the sadness from being alone.

Is there really a difference, though? That’s up to you to decide for yourself.

There is space for peace to exist in solitude, but the disruption that is sadness can only exist in loneliness and others alike.

Have you ever felt content in your space by yourself and you didn’t necessarily want company? That’s an example of solitude. Was there ever a time you were stressed and depressed about not having someone to share that space with, and companionship became a craving? That’s an example of loneliness.

Journal about whether you believe solitude and loneliness are different, or if they’re one in the same.

Welcome to February 2023! We are so glad that you’re still here with us and journaling! Just as we’ve done in the past.

Journal about the intentions you’re setting for the month. Setting intentions is a good way to keep focus of the thing(s) you want to accomplish on your timing.

Maybe you didn’t complete something last month, you hit a new bump in the road down your path—not all of our plans end up working out, but at least when we set intentions for our outcomes, we will feel less likely to blame ourselves because we knew where our hearts lied in the beginning.
