Sneak Peak: when our hearts stops beating
“Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
Kim Dokja ducked below the furious swing of a sword. He laughed and asked, “Roses are red, violets are blue, how would you like it if I came home with you?”
“Stand still and let me kill you!” Yoo Jonghyuk finally answered.
Kim Dokja spun out of range of the gleaming silver sword and ducked below another swing. He jumped up when Yoo Jonghyuk tried to kick him to death and landed on top of a streetlight. He laughed again and asked, “I know you’re busy today, but can you add me to your to-do list?”
Yoo Jonghyuk followed after him and attacked with he sword again. Kim Dokja swore as it tore through his side where he didn’t manage to dodge completely. Yoo Jonghyuk stared straight at him and growled, “Stop talking!”
Kim Dokja laughed and just answered, “If nothing lasts forever, will you be my nothing?”
The sword swung at him again and Dokja jumped down from the pole, feeling his feet hitting the pavement. He took off running as soon as he landed and with his vampiric speed, it only took him a few seconds to cross several blocks. He could hear the sound of Yoo Jonghyuk’s footsteps as the man dutifully followed behind him. Then the vampire hunter somehow ended up in front of him and Kim Dokja swore again. He threw all of his momentum at the human and was promptly thrown off into the air.
He spun around in the air and landed on his feet like a cat.
Dokja looked up just in time to see a sword almost cleave his head in two. Ducking, he cursed and attempted to get his elbow in Yoo Jonghyuk’s throat, but the stupidity strong man just ducked.
Instead, it was Dokja that ended up taking a sharp elbow to his stomach.
Kim Dokja wheezed out, “Even if there wasn’t gravity on earth, I’d still fall for you.”
Yoo Jonghyuk responded by trying to stab him with the pointy end of a sword. Dokja dropped to the ground, got into position and shot off into the night. Yoo Jonghyuk, the stubborn bastard that he was, just continued to follow after.
They were fighting in the middle of the city. It was a miracle that cops hadn’t come running towards them yet and Kim Dokja didn’t really want to give them a chance to. He changed direction toward a small park and when his instincts warned him, he swerved wildly to the left, barely avoiding Yoo Jonghyuk’s cursed sword. The damn thing could cut through titanium as if it were air.
Crossing into the park, Dokja turned around to face the vampire hunter. He coughed out, “Do your legs hurt from running through my dreams all night?”
Yoo Jonghyuk’s furious eyes met his.
