Hi, My name is Nikki! I'm 26 years old, living in portland and am a compositor and motion graphics animator. Currently I work as a Junior Compositor a VFX and animation studio that works on NBC's Grimm and do other freelance creative projects on the side.

Well hey art blog,

I haven’t ventured over here in at least a year and a half? I’m going to be using this as a psuedo portfolio until I can get my website back up since I’m working on a lot of different compositing, motion graphics, and animation projects!

Currently I have a job as a Junior compositor at Refuge VFX and Animation and just recently hit my year anniversary working there. Most of the stuff I did there was on the 4th season of Grimm. Here is my dinky little reel I made to show some of what I’ve worked on. I started out doing a lot of rotoscope and paint work and have moved up to doing a lot of actual compositing! 

As for other work, I’m also working as a pixel artist and animator on an indie game that’s being developed and I’m jumping back into Motion Graphics doing some openings for some Youtube personalities. 

I’ll be slowly posting up some other work I’ve done over the last two years on here so look out for that in the near future.

Hello art blog followers! Sorry I've been...completely gone. I've been getting freelance jobs up the wazoo! I worked on a animation for the Oregon Ballet (I'm still trying to get a copy of it so I can share it) and have been doing odd image compositing jobs here and there. I also just got another gig making a video of an app for a big company in Portland. How exciting! Anyways, I'm still doing logo design here and there. Here's one I did for my friend Zach for his Youtube channel Main Quest. I'm running so tight on time at the moment with all the work I have to do I don't feel it's particularly my best work. I'm hoping that after I'm done with this app job I can revisit it and make it a little better! (i.e. adding the lines on the vines, better wood grain, fixing the text) but he's really happy with it right now so it works out!

I was sick for about 4 days and unable to do anything and when I was feeling better yesterday I got hit with a deadline to finish logos and a motion graphic thing for a facebook page.

So that's what I spent my whole day doing yesterday. They decided not to go with any of the logos I made even though they liked them. But I'm still getting paid for my time which is cool! I just thought they were too cute not to share on my art blog. 

I've got one other set of sketch commissions I have to do and then I'm off to the land of sewing to slave away doing cosplay commissions. 

If you are interested in logo design for something though, hit me up with a PM and we can discuss price and a time I can get it done! Also in other news in my life, the commercial I got a job for last month got posted online which was really cool. It's nothing really artistic or impressive so I'm not going to post it on here but professional work! Also am crossing my fingers that I have a job starting next week for a month, but I don't want to count my chicks before they hatch.

I SURE HAVE BEEN GONE FOR AWHILE.

Been dealing with a lot of personal issues and hardwear issues. Good news is I’m up an running again! I had a professional job doing some work on a commercial for a few weeks and now I’m catching up on all the commissions I had to do. First up is my sister’s photography logo for her birthday (which was a month ago :I). She made it really hard because she couldn’t explain what she wanted but I think I got something for her.

Next up is some sketches someone paid me for awhile ago (I’m so sorry it’s taken so long) and then I’m doing some Graphic Design work for a cosplay website.

Eyyyyyy, hey art blog. I have been dealing with some life stuff and been gone.

Here is my pretty resume though, that I just sent off to get printed today. T-minus 10 days until graduation!

Life is insane, but I just got some really awesome news.

I met someone for a pretty awesome company in town at my work and managed to randomly network with him in the weirdest way. He gave me his email and I found out he was one of the senior concept artists at the company! 

Things basically went from "I'll help you meet some people there!" to "Come to the company for a tour!" to "I'll set up a job shadow for you with all the different departments in the studio!"

Just got the confirmation email the morning asking when I want to do the job shadow. I'VE GOT SO MUCH STUFF ON MY PLATE RIGHT NOW BUT I CAN'T PASS THIS UP, THIS IS SUCH AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY. Glad I ordered my business cards ahead of time and now I've got to spend time thinking of a gagillion questions because this is apparently going to go on for an entire day. I need to ask for time off work too because I have no days off to do it since I work or am at school every day of my life, hahahahahahahaha.....graduating :'D

Final business card design. I'm gonna try to get these printed this week. I've got some super awesome and lucky opportunities happening soon with a company I would love to work for. I would like to have these printed out so I can give them to some of the people I will be meeting with.

I'm so tired of homework though....so very tired..........I've got a networking logo project I'm working on right now too and I'm going to try my best to bust out the compositing stuff I have to finish for our school film so I can at least get that out of the way and never have to look at it again. That on top of finishing my reel and now I have to finalize my resume and cover letter design :I

Anyways, if you have any critique on this please let me know! I think I'm going in to get some samples done on Tuesday.

First draft of business cards for portfolio class DUE TOMORROW. I'm sure my teacher will make me undergo some changes on these for sure. 

Let me know which one you guys like though, or if you prefer a certain font on one that I should switch with a graphical element in another~

I'm currently fond of the one on the bottom left. 

STILL GOTTA MAKE A RESUME DESIGN AND A COVER LETTER DESIGN TO GO WITH AT LEAST ONE OF THESE BUT I'D LIKE TO DO TWO. Also put together a stand in reel :x

HEY NOT DEAD. My busy week has ended (kinda). I've been working on more school stuff then sketching. Here's part of an alphabet project I did for my first week of class. We were just given 5 letters of the alphabet to do and were asked to choose one font to use.

I did a really crappy ocean alphabet project when I first started using after effects so I wanted to GIVE IT A SHOT AGAIN.

I'm decently happy with it. I think I could mess around with it more to make the animations move to the music more on time. Perhaps another time though. This is good enough to put on my website for now.

(Also I could only think of 'Killer Whale' and 'Kelp" that started with K. I didn't wanna put another whale like creature on it so sorry for my shitty kelp k. Kelp isn't interesting.)
