I’m curious about your interpretation of the Oración Seis in the Key of the Starry Heavens Arc. Considering it’s related to the church and religion and what not.

This ask funny enough made me actually watch a fairy tail episode for the first time in years. The fact that a heavy Lucy centric arc that focuses on religion is filler does drive me insane.

Notes for these designs:

They're made under the idea that oracion seis got broken out of prison years before the arc and have worked their way into the church.

I think Zentopia is meant to be an alternate religion, not the main one followed by the citizens of earthling in canon so that's what I'm operating under

I feel like this wasn't fully what you meant but I'm a sucker for sketching characters in religious garb so here we are.

Still currently watching through the arc so I'm sorry if I missed someone in the group. May add them in later.

This took me a minute. I was going to wait until we got to that point in our rewatch but didn't want to leave you hanging for weeks. Consider these tentative redesigns that may change once I reach the arc.

Few notes: I want to keep angel relatively the same but with my own twist on her outfit.

I acknowledge cobra's design is personal preference for me. Honestly I think Cobra being calm and terrifying works well, especially if we save his unhinged nature for post timeskip when he's seeking out Cubelios. I do hope retracting fangs, unhinging jaws, and extreme flexibility somewhat meets your quota.

Hoteye doesn't have a canon reason to look like he does outside of being Wally's brother so I tossed the geometric shapes and kept the "grabbing at being rich" look.

For the final three it's more minor alterations than heavy changes. Brain was hard to change but I did want to adjust some elements I wasn't a fan of. Racer and Midnight just got some personal touches of mine.

Shit that’s true and also wild bc I love trans!Jellal??? Like listen… it’s a little bit horrifying, of course, but the thing about all the tower kids is: that environment would’ve definitely stunted their growth and delayed puberty; and even when puberty occured it wouldn’t have been as intense, so there’s a good chance it would perhaps be easier for them to transition later on.

It also means we can’t assume the Little Jellal we’re shown in Erza’s flashbacks isn’t AFAB, because all the kids look skinny and sickly. All that differs him from Erza is he just has short hair and a face tattoo (and he’s wearing pants, but what, do the guards have a damn dresscode for the starving kids they want to work day and night??? They’re practically in rags, so I think we can assume the kids took whatever clothes they could get). So tiny afab Jellal is totally possible. We do see young Jellal shirtless at one point, but there’s no way he would’ve developed any breast tissue 1. At that age and 2. With that malnutrition. So the flat chest they show us still makes sense.

Also if transition was offered as an (eventual) prize in his brainwashing process… that would’ve been a really easy way to manipulate him and maintain control. Which, again, horrifying, but Jellal’s life is… like that, so we can’t exactly not talk about it, lmao.

As an adult, we only ever see a shirtless Jellal in non-canon material like Mashima’s drawings or the Exciting Ryuzetsu Land OVA, as far as I’m aware. But you could also assume he’s transitioned with his chest in some way at that point. (Magic, you know? Once he’s away from the tower it’s like… that boy isn’t gonna wait to live his best life).

Anyway, even without grasping at straws in canon (bc most of time, fuck canon), trans!Jellal is fun and good and also you know what that is???
