“Yes, yes, you’ve mentioned it before. We can have an in depth discussion when you’re less of a snot goblin.” Theo gets the movie started before making herself comfortable and opening up a packet of fruit snacks, popping one into her mouth with a happy sound.

“I’m holding you to that promise.”

“Jesus Christ…I’m putting on Mean Girls and you can just live it and know that if you purposefully sneeze on me I will absolutely smothering you to death.”

“They ruined Anne, Theo. It’s a crime.” He continues, thinking of it made his blood boil which was probably bad considering the fever. Jess snuggled more firmly down. “I like Mean Girls.”

“…says the man who already kink shamed me this morning about how early in the day I like to tie people up,” Theo scoffs. She drops the crackers into his lap before grabbing her laptop and getting into bed beside him. “If I ask you what you want to watch, are you gonna say something exhaustingly pretentious?”

“Maybe.” Jess raises a brow at her, “Depends. I don’t think my brain could handle a lot right now, but if you say Netflix’s Persuasion I will not only get up and leave but I will also sneeze on you out of spite.”

Theo laughs down the hall before making her way quickly into the kitchen, pouring him a glass of juice and grabbing a sleeve of crackers and a couple packs of fruit snacks before heading back. Setting the glass down on the bedside she hands him the pills. “These should help kill the fever, and I’ve got some cough drops too unless you like hacking up a lung.”

“Maybe I do. Maybe that’s my kink and you’re kink shaming me right now.” He mutters, while taking the pills. Coupled with the orange juice it’s an odd after taste but not he worst.

“Okay, gross,” Theo pushes him back and into her bed, “You’re not going to work and getting your germs all over everyone. That’s just selfish and rude. If you get up before I get back with your juice I will tie you the bed.” Before she head towards the door she grabs her softest blanket, one of many that swarm the plush bed, and drapes it over him.

“That’s too kinky for this early in the morning.” He shouts back to the best of his ability, still a bit miffed that he’s going to accept her reasoning; he’s an asshole but he doesn’t want to get anyone else sick. Sullenly he relaxes under the overly soft blanket.

“Right, I didn’t tell you to hop into a gurney so I could roll you to the hospital, I told you to lay down. Because that’s exactly what people with colds should do.” Dahlia goes right to her vanity and pulls out a blister pack, popping out a couple quickly. “Go lay down, I’ll get you something to drink.”

“I got work. I’m not that sick.” He tells her, because it’s true. Sick days are for the type of days when you’re on death’s door. Puking or something. He’s not that bad. “I need to go in for a few hours at least. Not like I’m going to do anything like heavy lifting today. I’ll be fine.” -of course that’s when he starts coughing to the point of back aches. “Shit.”

“Good luck with that,” she says, unfazed by his outburst. “Go lay down, I’ve got some stuff in my room that’ll help,” Theo adds while walking off towards her room.

“I’m fine. It’s just a cold.” He mutters, following her. “Just need something for the fever.”

Theo walks by the bathroom to hear his muttering and knocks twice against the door. “Dude, you have a bedroom, please tell me you’re not jacking it in the bathroom in broad daylight,” she says with a snort.

Jess doesn’t even hesitate to throw the door open, showing that he’s dressed and not currently shoving a hand down his sweatpants. “I’m currently trying to find something for a fever in your brother’s treasure trove of drugs. He needs to get a proper labeling system.” He snaps, head hurting in a pulsing beat.

I’m Not Sick, You’re Sick

Jess knows when something is off by mid-day. His head is hurting (not unusual) but so is his back -shoulders tense and makes his head ache feel worse. He does his best to push through it, makes sure to grab something to eat and pop a few pain pills but it persists and by the time he’s falling asleep at home he knows that he is catching that damned cold everyone else is...but Jess isn’t the type to just give in and admit it, instead he wakes up showers for twice as long and starts digging in the cabinet. Leo has access to a lot of things, so it takes him a long time to find anything relatively over the counter for a fever. “Fuck.” He mutters, fever making his ability to read the fine print hard.

theowritesny:

“Oh my god, Jess, do I actually seem like someone capable of hopping on anyone’s back right now? Besides, I like to be fireman carried if I have to be carried at all.” Theo tosses the ice pack in the freezer before limping over to him. “But don’t worry, I won’t even ask you to carry me, I’ll just lean on you.”

“Come on then,” He mutters, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her arm over his shoulder. Taking the bulk of her weight.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve got the limping power to get to one more place, and I’m choosing the couch because it’s much closer.”

Jess makes a face, contemplates his answer before speaking. “I will help you to the tub -and by help I mean you can lean or I can carry. Under no circumstances are you getting a piggy back ride.”

theowritesny:

“You could just tell me the whole story though.” Theo leans against the counter, the pain in her leg getting worse. Maybe she should go to a doctor…but she’s stubborn and not exactly interested in those bills. With a sigh she opens the freezer and grab an ice pack.

“Nope.” He doesn’t hesitate. “You should probably give the ice packs a rest and maybe take a hot soak in the bath. Use some of those fancy salts.”

“Damn Jess, I don’t know either. Won’t it be so fun finding out together?” Theo grabs a glass and some juice from the fridge. “Well if it ends up being a shitty story then I’ll accept I wasted my time for nothing, but at least I’ll know.”

“Hey, at least I told you that, right?”

theowritesny:

“I mean…I do it because I’m good at it and I like the money, the daddy issues don’t actually come into play here,” She notes with a grin. “But I get it, it’s not for everyone. It just means I can’t use my body to get what I want so I’ll just have to play the long game.”

“Again. I’m not sure what that would be. More so, I’m not sure it would be worth it. Spoiler alert, it’s not that interesting of a story.”

“I’m good at getting creative. It would be about a million times easier if you liked strippers though.” Theo laughs as she gets up and heads into the kitchen, handing over the rest of the egg rolls.

“Can’t say I’m sorry about that one. Don’t get me wrong, I am full awe of how you ladies manage to do what you do, I just...” He shrugs, “I guess it’s just hard to find it sexy when I know you and the girls so well. Or why you do it.”

theowritesny:

“Might not be blackmail that gets you in the end,” she teases.

“Not sure what else you could do.”

theowritesny:

“That’s because I’ve given up on that for now. I need a little more time to figure you out before I can find leverage. But don’t worry, I’ll get the story eventually.”

He chuckles, thinking that it would take a lot. “I’m afraid I’m a tough person to black-mail Theo.”
