Prototype v3
February 4, 2014
Now, 'finding and adding friends' has been incorporated into the global navigation, since it is a priority for our persona (she really likes to keep up to date on her friends, but may not add things to her list so much).
Also, I've incorporated a home button in the navigation in order to provide an alternative tool to the logo for returning to the home stream. A logo is generally understood to be a link to the home, but it is not necessarily intuitively so, whereas the home button is a closer representation of the home stream. It may be redundant, but I think it will help different users navigate easily.
The Hamburger button would be for finding new content by filtering interests.
Prototype v3
February 4, 2014
Now, when you arrive in your home screen for the first time, you are literally 'blocked' from browsing the automatically-generated popular content. Instead you either have to select your areas of interest, and continue onto a more personal home stream; or, not select interests and move through to popular content.
Prototype v2
February 3, 2014
Home screen is always populated.
When you haven't selected your interests, the content is constructed out of popular events.
From the usability tests, it became clear that the dialogue box ('Make your home stream more personal [...]') was not understood as a link.
(See 2nd photo) After the user indicates his/her areas of interest, the home stream is populated with events filtered according to those interests.
From the user persona, it became clear that finding friends was an important navigational tool.
(See 3rd photo) 'My List' is hidden until the user selects it, or adds an event.
Prototype v1
January 31, 2014
'My List' is always open to encourage users to add events.
Search is included in main content, which is not conventional.
'Home Stream' vs. 'Personal Stream' is unclear.
