so, 3 things about gun control:
1. people who own guns are, by and large, hella pro-gun control. Anti-gun control is largely an agenda by the NRA, that, I don't know, likes dead students*? (*Kids, I grew up in CO when Columbine happened, knew people there, etc etc. I've now lived in the city of/been visiting/have dear friends in or within 100 miles of 10 of these mass shootings. I have known people who've lost someone in 8 of them. I have been that close to losing someone *I* know *ten times.* Imma say dead students if I want to, okay?)
2. there is hard data: not circumstantial, not anecdotal, not correlative. There is hard data that shows gun control stops gun violence deaths. These studies are run by everyone from gun advocates to gun-control advocates; from hospitals to independent research firms. The only studies that have come out and said that states with more gun-control laws having less gun-violence death is correlative and not causative are funded by the NRA, or NRA affiliates. I research the political agenda of every company doing a study on anything that might kill me. You should too.
3. 2 people just died 8 blocks from my home in a restaurant known for fried chicken. A good friend of mine eats there every other day. I grab a drink there regularly. The guns, from some reports, were bought black market. Most common sense gun control has shown objective results in lessening black market purchases.
If you are someone who has made the following statements:
A) I AM TIRED OF WALL-TO-WALL MEDIA COVERAGE, THAT'S WHAT KILLS PEOPLE LOL
B) They want to take my guns!
C) Gun control isn't the answer.
I implore you to either provide an alternative solution, one that is not the same solution as the past 10 years, backed with evidence from impartial observers and research firms, or to shut up and stop being the problem.
Gun owners are not the problem. Gun ownership advocates are not the problem. Irresponsible, selfish, irritable, and short-sighted adults who care more for their personal comfort and ease in their day-to-day life are the problem, and have the blood of hundreds of children on their hands. How dare you say you don't want to fill out an extra form; how dare you continue to support the culture of toxic masculinity, racism, and domination that has lead me to almost lose friends 10 times, and will inevitably cause me to lose someone or my life when my luck runs out; how dare you simply confess to being annoyed at the TV and whine about political posts on facebook stressing you out.
Get off your ass and be a person.
