✦ TYLER POSEY, CIS MALE, HE/HIM ✦ JESSE ROSALES the THIRTY-ONE year old has been in Hidehill for NINETEEN YEARS and was a NEIGHBOR to Jade Parker, the missing first murder victim. Whispers on the streets are that the MUSICIAN / STREAMER who lives in HARTLEY AVENUE. He is said to be LAIDBACK and IMPULSIVE but I guess we’ll find out for ourselves.
Tw: absent parent, illness
Jesse's mom, Miranda, was a groupie, having spent the majority of her early twenties following one band or another. Somewhere between Austin and Memphis, she discovered she was pregnant. And so she cut her tour short, attempting to do her best for Jesse. To her credit, she had tried her best: gotten a job as a recepionsit, found a tiny, tiny apartment that just fit the two of them, and found a way to make it work. But being a single mom was exhausting— it would be for anyone, especially someone that never wanted it. As he got older, Jesse was treated less like a kid and more like a friend. He was his own babysitter far earlier than he should have been. Thankfully he'd had friends who let him sleep over, parents that let him stay for dinner. He never expected any note in his lunchbox... if Miranda ever made one at all. They ended up in Nashville in middle school, his mother choosing to come back under the guise of reconnecting with his grandparents. The family dinners lasted for about a week before she was back to old habits. A new singer. A taste of her youth.
He officially moved in with his grandparents after a month, making the transition into Hidehill. While his grandparents openly complained of their daughter, Jesse had a complicated relationship with it. Yea, it would have been nice to have a mom that was around but in her own weird way she loved him. By letting him go, at least she wasn't pretending for either of them. For anyone. With his grandparents, he had a happy, safe, and loving home.
School was not Jesse's favorite thing. It was pretty clear with his grades, save the occasional A from music and gym. He did pretty good at history once. His report cards were usually in the C range and he'd needed to repeat seventh grade. He'd known early on that college was just not for him, instead considering going to trade school. He'd started a program for carpentry but his interest waned as he leaned into music.
For a solid four years, he was in a band called Postcard Penance. The three of them managed to get a pretty good following, playing plenty of venus in the area and even landing the opening opening at a concert. They were even talking with a label... until they weren't. Instead talking to just the frontman. Jesse and his drummer were left in the dirt.
Since then, Jesse tried to get momentum back in music. (Maybe in a new band? Hmmm???) It was nowhere close enough to sustain himself, so he opted for other jobs. None stuck around too long. There was a month or so as a server, occassionally opting to drive for Uber or dash for DoorDash. He'd even tried a couple amateur nights at Playpen and Pynk Potions. He'd stumbled into streaming, really. Gaming had become one of his ways to unwind and over time he'd gained a bit of an audience. And, never too serious, he leaned into what they wanted. He played shirtless once, noticed his streams had gone up so he did it again. He knows there's a limit but, boy, does he toe the line sometimes.
A couple years ago, his grandmother got sick and with the both of them growing older, his grandparents made the decision to move to a local retirement community, leaving Jesse with their place on Hartley Avenue. It's been a learning curve, living on his own. He'd gone from McDonald's as a kid to nightly homemade meals to... lots of Ramen and overcooked eggs. It took him a little too long to learn how to iron a dress shirt— would have helped if he'd plugged it in. Is he too old not to know some of the domestic stuff? Hell yea. And he'll own that all while sporting a white tee turned soft pink.
While he got the place on Hartley, paying for it alone wasn't always great. And Jesse hated the silence. He'd started by getting a cat, then taking in the local stray. And while the furry roommates were great, he'd needed a full fledged one. (Open connection for roommate). Since then, he's added another cat. Three was a better number than two anyways.
Stoner through and through but does dabble outside of that.
Leans towards punk music, with hints of rock and pop. Plays guitar.
Collector of bad tattoos. Has definitely given himself a stick and poke or two.
Responds to stress by ignoring it and getting high.
If he ever met the Shadow I feel like he'd react like this:
