The current project is in the closing stages. Upgraded photos and podcasts. Working on post-production changes to the photos, as well as editing and music additions to the podcast. Analyses of both projects will be written once the projects are fully completed. In the last blog entry the URLs of the published projects will be displayed.
Below is the e-letter Zoel sent me. This letter will replace the face-to-face interview.
Some changes were made to the podcast. The original interview segment is cancelled. This is because the invitee is still currently battling anorexia. Their current state prevents them from participating in the face-to-face recording. But the interviewee wrote a letter. So the interview will become a reading of the letter. The letter has been written and will contain personal experiences and advice from the interviewee. The podcast currently needs to choose a piece of music to accompany it for better effect. The recording equipment used so far is mainly an iphone and in-ear headphones. Good feedback has been received in class.
The photos were gotten during the process.
A few minor changes about the photography. One of the preset ideas I exhibited in the original blog needed to be a photograph of a person. However, based on some feedback and the situation at hand, I will no longer consider photographing people as the main subject. The focus and presentation will remain on the objects. However, I will be using different arrangements to allude to and emphasize the subject matter. Some of the preliminary shots will be shown next week. As well as some process images for making a video of the presentation. For the podcast questions, I added a post-interview summary. And explain some things about anorexia treatment and proper aesthetics to help the audience in need. Also, this podcast will not be available as a video in consideration of the interviewee's portrait rights. Only the audio will be shown. In the subsequent production process, I will collect the opinions of people around me and continue to improve.
During the two weeks of STUDY BREAK, all blogs that have been edited will be posted this week due to illness. For one of my projects - the podcast - I'm currently planning to use my mobile phone to record it first. Due to the time constraints of borrowing school equipment and the uncertainties that may arise. I will be using my mobile phone to try and record at the moment. To make sure there are no issues such as noise, I have chosen a room that is soundproofed. The podcast interview questions have been refined and will be shown in the next blog. In the meantime I am preparing for ASSIGNMENT 3. Subsequent blogs will also feature some of the initial completed draft work.
For the creative media approach I've chosen so far, I've chosen to invite close friends to assist me with the podcast. The interview questions and outline for the podcast will take some time to revise and refine at this time. I asked some of them for their opinions and got some ideas to help me improve my media output. I have decided to focus on the finished photographic product for screening. I've decided to start with an initial set of 4-5 finished shots for screening and comparison. I will also collect feedback from people around me to make changes and enhancements. The shoot will be ready next week. The focus of this week's work is to analyze and study the workshop's photographs. However, I will also continue to follow up on the podcast questions.
At last week's workshop I learnt how to go about producing a podcast. The planned media outputs of photography and blogging remain unchanged. the workshop used a dedicated microphone, but I also decided to try recording the podcast on my mobile phone to get a feel for the difference in results. In the meantime I have completed some basic questions for the podcast. These issues will be revised again at a later stage.
What is anorexia?
What is excessive dieting? The damage that can be caused by excessive dieting.
Interview section
1. For what reasons do you suffer from anorexia?
2. what reasons made you decide to resort to dieting to lose weight? Tell us about your journey.
3. What changes did you feel in your body when you went on an excessive diet?
4. What does it feel like to suffer from anorexia?
5. How do you start treating anorexia?
6. How did you feel after starting a healthy lifestyle?
7. Is there any advice you can give to people who are using excessive dieting to lose weight?
Anorexia
The most serious psychologically disabling disorder triggered by excessive dieting is anorexia nervosa. It is also the most important issue in this study. Anorexia nervosa (AN) is an eating disorder usually defined as abnormally low body weight, associated with an intense fear of weight gain and distorted perceptions of weight, shape and thinness dynamics (Evelyn, 2010, p426). Patients suffering from anorexia nervosa engage in excessive dieting and food refusal due to fear of gaining weight, resulting in weight loss, malnutrition and even refusal to maintain a minimum weight. As a mental disorder, anorexia nervosa is not something that can be easily treated and cured. Anorexia nervosa is an all-ages disorder and is more prevalent in females.
The second form of expected media output is blogging. Guests are currently invited as one person. One will be about 10 minutes long and mainly in the form of an interview. The theme of the blog will be the prison of terror of anorexia nervosa. The main idea is to raise awareness of the problem of anorexia nervosa and excessive dieting, the seriousness of the problem and the solutions. The production schedule for the blog will be shown in a subsequent blog.

This blog is used to show some of my initial thoughts. These ideas were mapped out on my iPad. I'll add some ideas about lighting and such to next week's blog. As well as still needing to get feedback in the workshop.
Physiological effects of excessive dieting
The physiological effects of excessive dieting are very serious. Dieting has become very common in the current social environment. Dieting has become an epidemic in order to cater to the all-encompassing pursuit of the thin aesthetic ideal (Brownell, 1991, p. 9). Thin aesthetics can be used as a reference from models, celebrities, and other figures that receive a fan following. The idea of dieting in the eyes of most people is to stay hungry. There is a strong belief that the desired body can be achieved by consuming very little food. My friends who have been on diets admit that it has taken a toll on their bodies. Hair loss, memory loss, and stomach problems are among the longest to appear. For women, abnormal menstruation and disrupted hormone levels are two of the most serious damages.
For my creative media work, I have currently decided to position the protagonists of my photography on objects. In order to highlight the issue of overdieting, visualizing the unusual nature of overdieting is a very desirable approach in my opinion. I am thinking about the background color palette of the photography. For this serious topic, I prefer to use darker tones. The lighting we learned about in the last workshop I think would be a good choice for darker tones. It's just that I still need more skills to photograph object models rather than human models. For the composition, I have initial ideas so far and have drawn them on my iPad. More shooting experience is needed for further implementation and refinement.

What is dieting?
As a start to the research, it is vital to understand the term dieting. Markey, C. N., & Gillen, M. M. (2016) argued that the practice of restricting the total intake of food with the aim of losing weight is dieting (p. 46). The human body has a fixed total calorie value for its daily nutritional requirements. Dieting controls the intake of calories to be reduced from the weekday intake thus achieving a certain difference. But as a short-term control, such behaviour is not desirable.
I chose this topic because I realised that the problem of excessive dieting is far more serious than I thought. I have witnessed a close friend of mine suffer from anorexia and be confined to hospital as a result of excessive dieting. I began to look at the people around me. After a period of time, I came to a very alarming conclusion. Most young people resort to excessive dieting to lose weight. In the age of the developed Internet, there are many examples of the dangers of excessive dieting to lose weight. But it seems that these examples are not enough to make people realise the seriousness of the problem. That's why I decided to make the type of creative media project photography. The straight for wardness of the photographic expression was the reason I felt it was suitable for this theme. I am currently searching the internet for some creative media works similar to my theme for reference and analysis. I would like to subdivide this theme into multiple steps for progressive research. Each of these steps will be documented in upcoming blogs.

The Danger Of Excessive Dieting
After much deliberation I decided that the theme for this media creative media project would be the dangers of excessive dieting and Anorexia. The research journey of this creative media project will be documented in this blog. Literature and other sources cited in this blog will be credited in detail. The purpose of this creative media project is to warn people about the seriousness of the problems caused by excessive dieting and Anorexia ,to make positive changes to the situation.

The Credibility of Social Media
After exploring and examining the previous questions about gender, disinformation and fake news, we have finally come to the most crucial one. Can social media be trusted 100% by its users?
The composition of social media seems like a new world. The platforms that provide the data, the people who share it and the people who receive it. It all seems to make sense and work together. Before I ask this question, there is an opportunity that triggers my thinking. While I was using tiktok to download this video, I suddenly noticed an option next to it labeled promotion. After I clicked on it to check it out I did see that I could spend money to choose the number of people to promote, etc. I tried to promote one of my videos for 30 RMB. Although the number of likes wasn't great, it was much higher than before.
With the high growth of social media these days, people are very dependent on it. There is a lot of content in social media and a lot to choose from. From my own experience, I believe that the push behind social media content is not only based on simple likes and views.Pop et al. in the article "The impact of social media influencers on travel decisions: The role of trust in The impact of social media influencers on travel decisions: The role of trust in consumer decision journey", Pop et al. mention that endorsers use their personalities to shape a product or service and further communicate it to the target audience for marketing purposes. It can also be seen as a partnership between brands and content creators (Pop et al., 2021, p825). What can be queried or tweeted by social media is the result of curation. The operation behind the capital directs the social media professionals to output some content to lead the user's mindset and finally achieve the goal. In my experience, for example, the capital can be pushed at a better price to achieve a large marketing impact.
The composition of social media is planned and manipulated. The conclusion of this study is not to create fear, but rather to empower users to use their judgment to discern the truth of the content. Like disinformation and fake news, social media has an impact on people not just by infiltrating their daily lives, but by changing the way they think in order to profit from it.

How can social media come to alert users against fake news?
In the age of self-media, more and more people are relying on information flow platforms to get news and information. The rapid development of social media has elevated the efficiency and speed of information access to a new level. However, with the continuous development of technology, fake news has also begun to circulate quietly. Although these fake news seem to be real, they hide serious harm.
Fake news in social media is currently not considered completely controllable. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression is one of the reasons for the emergence of fake news. The content that users are able to see when using social media is overly mixed and confuses the mind. I was misled by fake news in social media during the COVID-19 public health crisis. People themselves are more inclined to believe in conspiracy theories. The inaccuracies in fake news lead users to biased thinking.
While researching the impact of fake news in social media, an article made me change my mind. Instead of thinking too broadly, I wanted to look more specifically at the symbol alerts that characterize fake news in social media. Figl et al in "Do symbol and device matter? The effects of symbol choice of fake news flags and device on human interaction with fake news on social media platforms", Figl et al. mention that fine-tuning user responses to fake news flags is important because social media neither want to discourage users with explicit restrictions nor be suspected of prohibiting freedom of speech altogether (Figl et al., 2023). Most of the manipulation behind fake news is by unusual users, excluding capital controls. Fine-tuning users is one of the more subtle tactics social media use for fake news controllability. Myself and the friends who helped me with my research surveies were also subjected to textual cues when using social media. For example, some tiktok videos will have text symbols such as risk warnings below them. But the videos still go viral and are not controlled more effectively.
Fake news in social media not only affects the user's thinking, but also causes unnecessary panic. Nowadays, social media is far from effective if only a single text symbol is used to alert users. This study needs to go deeper to find out the rest of the more effective fake news symbols.

How is social media enabling bots to be integrated into users' lives?
The digital age is evolving rapidly. Almost the entire population of the planet is now in the age of online socialization. Social media carries a lot of information even as it dominates. As a public platform, social media is utilized to spread news or increase exposure. In case of emergencies, posting on social media can often lead to the best solutions. However, the effectiveness of the information present in social media cannot be fully verified.
In doing my research, I have found that there are a large number of bots in social media. Users of social media software have no trouble noticing a phenomenal phenomenon. There are many potential users whose behavior is weird while revealing abnormal supernatural.Cai, M., Luo, H., Meng, X., Cui, Y., & Wang, W. (2023) in "Network distribution and sentiment interaction. Information diffusion mechanisms between social bots and human users on social media" (Cai et al., 2023) in "Network distribution and sentiment interaction: Information diffusion mechanisms between social bots and human users on social media", Social media bots mimic human beings and interact with other web users in an automated way. In this way, the spread of misinformation is exacerbated. (Cai et al., 2023). Social media bots have the ability to learn. The manipulation behind it is not clear, but through its behavior it can be assumed that social media bots are participants in fake news, misinformation, and public opinion. For social media, the false information brought by social media bots not only affects judgment, but also plunges users into a constructed world of manipulation.
Bots created by social media infiltrate users' lives through learning and imitation. The disinformation they create subconsciously guides the thinking of social media users. Inflammatory comments and messages from bots further complicate social media platforms. Users need to be more careful in their judgment and use.
