Two Hearts: Auckland World Tour
NZ’s ultimate musical duo will challenge everything you thought you knew about musical comedy.
Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore certifiably burn down the house with their comedy fest performance, so much so that I was left wondering, what do we consider an arena show? and, who is the real MVP of NZ pop music?
These are certainly questions open for discussion, however, let me provide you my thoughts here. You CAN pull off an arena show to a room fitted for 120 people, and Lorde is still MVP, but Laura and Joseph fight for a close second. (I have legitimately forgotten about FOC at this point, Jermaine & Bret you had yo time. P.S - I love you. P.P.S Livi & Amanda 4eva)
Walking into the show, we’re presented with a wrist band to wear throughout. You know, like the ones Taylor Swift had for her 1989 tour, or the ones Jägermeister give out at a grubby music fest? Yeah, one of those. Already I am more excited than I imagined I would be, and my expectations increase 10 fold.
The first 5 minutes presents everything you would expect from seeing Lady Gaga or Beyonce IRL. I’m not going to spoil any surprises here, and maybe at the end of this week I’ll update this with ‘The Comedy Fest Show That Will Be Talked About For The Next 10 Years Minimum As The Where Were You When Moment’ and provide further sordid details.
The rest of the hour see’s literal pop banger, after pop banger whipped out on stage with any disregard for the fact that this is the comedy festival, and a show of this caliber really deserves a spot on a coachella day time line-up. Themes covered include feminism, morning glory, 420, and beach attire; all presented in a much more engaging fashion than listed here.
Laura Daniel’s undeniable talent is on full display, while Joseph Moore proves there may be more to him than just pressing play. Fans of Daniel and Moore will be blown away by their ability to deliver a tune worthy of your listening time in the shower. Their comedy chops have not gone anywhere, and you don’t need to look far for your favourite punchline of the night. Mine was ‘except sarah’.
Laughing in a room shrouded with heavy lighting and loud music has never felt safer. I promise i’m not over delivering, but you know what you need to do to find out for yourself. TICKETS
Highlights / TLDR:
If you missed out on Beyonce AND Adele, this will make up for it.
Expect back-up dancers, costume changes, and HYPE HYPE HYPE.
I’m serious about the hype, defs grab a drink or a cold shower afterwards.
Please give back your wristband.
