SUMMER'S END Over the years I have gotten a lot of criticism and questions about being away from my son, but there is no way to describe the bond and special relationship that I have with him. It may not be conventional, and look the way people think it should, but we have also created something with one another that is greater than anything I imagined! He has taught me how to be a mom, a woman, a friend. How to communicate, be patient, be kind, and how to listen. He's taught me that love goes beyond the limitations that our mind, our family, and our society have placed upon us. We have laughed and confided in one another, and even at such a young age, he's provided an immense amount of support and compassion for me. His belief in me and his understanding of what I am meant to create in this world is what keeps me going! It may not make sense to some, but it makes sense to us. And even though sometimes, like today, it's the hardest thing I've ever been through... I remember his laugh, and the look on his face when he tells people I am his mom, and that he's proud of me.
