"Where have you been?" Ardbert demands as soon as you walk through the doors. "I've not seen you in days!"
You pass through him, feet shuffling with exhaustion, and face plant on your bed with your boots still on.
Ardbert is still shuddering from the sensation of you walking through him when you turn your face to stare at him.
"I hate when you do that," he says, expression sour. He shakes it off, focusing his attention on you. "Gods, look at you! Have you slept at all since I saw you last, you foolish hero?"
Ardbert narrows his eyes, stabbing a finger at you. "What did we say about using our words?"
You purse your lips, too tired for words, and deciding to be a bit of a shit. You grunt again.
Ardbert throws his hands up. "What am I going to do with you?" He mutters.
You close your eyes, smiling.
You jerk, startled, eyes blinking open to stare at Ardbert incredulously.
He tugs at your boot, scowling. "At least take your boots off!"
You smile at him, half delirious. "Youu care about mee.."
Ardbert twitches, making a face. "...What? I do not!" he huffs, crossing his arms. "I'm just stuck with you."
You laugh a giggly laugh of someone in much need of sleep. It seems you had reached the point where everything was funny.
Ardbert sighs, staring down you with a quirked eyebrow. "Hells, you're out of it."
You smile because his voice sounds soft. Fond. Despite all his protests and gruff bravado. Ardbert did have a soft spot for you after all.
You jerk, head lifting to blink down at your feet as you feel a tugging on your boots. You hadn't noticed Ardbert move, but that was the way of ghosts.
You have the luck that your own haunting, handsome spirit can touch you. And take off your boots.
You wiggle your toes, grinning down at him.
Ardbert looks up at you, scowling through fluster at the look on your face. "What's with that dumb look? Don't get all excited, hero. I just did it so I needn't hear your cursing and complaining tomorrow from suffering feet thanks to sleeping in boots."
You hum, heaving yourself upright, slurring his name. "Ardbert," you coo, patting at the bed. "Lie down with me."
Ardbert's face glows pink. "W-what? No! I told you, I don't need sleep."
You poke your lip out in a pout, whining, "Ardbeeert...!" You spread your arms open. "I'm lonely. Come hold me?"
Ardbert twitches, blush glowing ghostly bright from cheeks to ears. "..."
You wiggle, furrowing your eyebrows in your saddest, most pitiful expression.
Ardbert curses. Lurching upright to loom over you. "Fine! Just.. stop making that face, alright?"
You cheer, flopping back on the bed and watching eagerly as Ardbert approaches your bed like it was his most dangerous battlefield yet.
You smile at him, making grabby hands as he crawls up onto your bed.
"What did I say about getting excited?" Ardbert huffs, settling into your arms with an adorably grumpy expression paired with his blushing face.
"Ardbert," is all you can sigh, squeezing him with all the strength you have left. You're so tired.
Ardbert sighs deeply, curling his arms around you.
"Go to sleep." He mumbles.
You hum, already slipping off. ".. Love you."
Ardbert stares at the wall behind you with wide eyes, stifling a strangled sound.
