I’m posting this because I’m furious. What we’re watching isn’t just a legal decision—it’s an unraveling of one of the few protections that ever made this democracy honest. When the Voting Rights Act is gutted, it’s not accidental. It’s deliberate. It’s a message about whose voices matter and whose don’t.
If this doesn’t light a fire under us, nothing will.

🚨 THEY NEVER TAUGHT US THIS: THE GI BILL DISCRIMINATION 🚨
After World War II, America passed the GI Bill to help veterans buy homes, get an education, and build wealth.
But here’s the truth they leave out:
Black veterans were largely shut out.
On paper, the GI Bill applied to everyone.
In reality, it was controlled by local and state authorities, especially in the South—where racism was law, not opinion.
What Black veterans faced:
• Colleges refusing admission
• Trade schools denying enrollment
• Banks refusing loans
• Realtors enforcing redlining
• VA benefits delayed or denied
• “Whites only” housing developments
While white veterans used the GI Bill to:
✔️ Buy homes in the suburbs
✔️ Attend college for little or no cost
✔️ Build generational wealth
Black veterans were often pushed back into:
• Low-pay jobs
• Renting instead of owning
• Segregated neighborhoods
• Poverty despite serving their country
Many Black men fought Nazism abroad, only to come home and face Jim Crow at home.
This isn’t ancient history.
The racial wealth gap today is directly tied to who was allowed to benefit from programs like the GI Bill—and who was blocked.
Inequality wasn’t accidental.
It was designed.

A New York City Secret I bet you Wish You Didn’t Know…
This event is know as the 1741 Slave Conspiracy, though, to be honest, the 1741 enslaved persons, poor white persons, and free persons of color massacres would probably be more accurate.
Tensions were high in New York City in 1741. There was an economic downturn turn, the memory of the 1712 Slave Revolt was fresh in people’s mind, paranoia existed amongst wealthy whites that maybe those they enslaved were not happy, and 13 fires mysteriously broke out. Wealthy white people accused basically everyone who was not them of started these fires, and had a Salem Witch Trial-type legal proceeding which resulted in terrible consequences.
(Friends who always comment that I should mention people burned at the stake in Seneca Village Central Park…that never happened there…it DID however, happen here, as well as public hangings and deportations.)
Almost no one knows these events are immortalized in metal just outside the NYC courthouses in Foley Square.
Let’s learn the heartbreaking history of the 1741 Slave Conspiracy in New York City.

MEANWHILE...........
The National Park Service has started dismantling exhibits about slavery at the President’s House in Independence National Historical Park.
The President’s House, which serves as a memorial to the nine people George Washington enslaved there during the founding of America, has come under increased scrutiny by President Donald Trump’s administration. The president and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered content at national parks that “inappropriately disparage” the U.S. to be reviewed and potentially removed.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, an Independence Park employee told an Inquirer reporter that his supervisor instructed him to take down all the displays at the iconic site earlier that day. Two other individuals later joined the employee to help remove the educational exhibit.
“I’m just following my orders,” the employee repeatedly said, refusing to say whether he was tasked with removing the displays because of the executive order.
One by one, the exhibits — including those entitled “Life Under Slavery” and “The Dirty Business of Slavery” — were taken down.
