“Lucky you.” She chuckled. “My family just heads back to Greendale for Christmas traditions and maybe sometimes we’ll fly to a big city like New Orleans or Los Angeles if we saved enough money that year.” The brunette nodded her head. “This year we went to Greendale for the entire Christmas week, there was nothing else besides that. I just think the most important part is being with family.” 

“I am sure we stayed home when I was little but I don’t really remember any Christmas where we stayed completely at home. We’ve always done something and gone somewhere.” Ginger smiled, listening to the other girl talk about her Christmas. “Was your Christmas at least enjoyable even if you didn’t do much?”

        “  i mean  -  riverdale isn’t  that  bad !   but i’m  inclined  to agree  .   it gets  far too cold  here during the winter  .   i’d much prefer to be on vacation  .  ”  

“I don’t really mind the cold but it is much more enjoyable being away from the small town shtick.”

“I know some people have those really cliché holiday traditions but my parents making Christmas cruises a tradition when I was little has to be the best idea in the world. I love being on a cruise ship or in a tropical destination for the holidays. It is so much better than being in Riverdale.”

I am so sorry for not being on. I have just been so stressed with stuff at home and I got voluntold I was babysitting my niece this week so that took up most of my time because 2 year olds can be nightmares and sassy af. “Okay I get that the younger serpents are all extremely attractive human beings, and yes some might call them hot. But do I really need to hear that all the time during every class and free period? All I hear is how their jackets look great on them and about this girl’s hair and this boy’s arms. I get it they’re gorgeous, I appreciate beauty too, but there are more pressing matters at hand at the moment. Like the release of Kingdom Hearts 3.”

“I do like the aesthetic of the jackets and they are incredibly gorgeous human beings but I do agree. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a video game, right? I’m not a video game person. I’m more excited about all of the new novels being released in 2019.”

“It’s fine Ginger. It’s just water..” She closed her bottle and set it down on the piano. She was relieved when Ginger offered her another shirt. Josie knew what went down with Cheryl, Ginger and the vixens before she joined the squad. She’d never seen much of her around school after that and wondered how she was doing. She knew Cheryl could be a little harsh. “I don’t feel like leaving puddles all over the school today so that would be great.” 

“I will be right back. Let me go grab it.” She was thankful that her locker was in the same hallway as the room. She hurried to her locker, unlocking it to grab the Riverdale High Art Club tshirt she had stashed there the week before. She rushed back to the room, holding it out to Josie. “Puddles would be no fun. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. I can just see some poor loser slipping and claiming hurt.”

“We get lost and we get found. Now we are here, we won’t back down.” Josie’s eyes were closed as sang. The cold keys of the piano felt like magic on her fingertips. This song was originally played on the guitar, but she could make it work with the piano. It was an old one of hers and the Pussycats but it brought her back to a happier time. A lot was going on in Riverdale and she was now becoming nostalgic of the more calm times. Josie stood to grab her water bottle and took a quick sip. She heard someone clear their throat and turned around to face whoever it was. Unfortunately, she wasn’t aware of how close they were standing and ended up bumping into them and spilling water all over herself. A light gasp escaped her lips at the unexpected feeling of the cold liquid on her skin. “Great.” She said sarcastically pulling the damp fabric away from herself. “My shirt is now see through.”

When Ginger stepped into the room that she heard Josie singing in, she underestimated how close they were. Her eyes widened at the water being spilled, immediate regret crossing across her face. “Oh damn, I am so sorry.” She quickly set down her bag and books, pulling out a bag of tissues she carries around with her. She looked down at the tissues in her hand before looking at the soaked shirt that Josie was now wearing. “Stupid Ginger, these won’t work.” She murmured to herself before looking up sheepishly at the other girl. “I really am so sorry. I have an extra shirt in my locker if you want that. I always keep one just in case.”

“I know during this vacation I’m receiving soon, I am going to sleep in, binge watch movies and finally go get another tattoo,” Mickey replied. “THe benefits of being a teacher, besides teaching, of course, is you get a vacation alongside the students.”

Ginger rolled her eyes, crossing her arms against her chest. Did a part of her miss Cheryl? Yeah, she guessed a part of her would always miss knowing she was part of the in crowd. She loved being able to make her own decisions more though. 

“I didn’t necessarily support Veronica, Cheryl. Tina and I exercised our right to not vote at all.”

“What do you mean? Do your teachers not already know? What does the school believe?” Ginger was nosy and she knew it could be a flaw of hers but she was a bit confused by the girls words. She didn’t understand how the school didn’t already know this.

          ‘ now ,  i know we’re all  tremendously  worried about our  dear friend  archibald ,  but ,  i have the perfect proposal to take our minds off of his current situation . ’   yes ,  she’s aware a few people  don’t  want to do that ,  but she’s not going to put her life on hold because someone got himself arrested .  a hand flies out ,  a flyer being shoved  way  into the others personal space .  it’s almost as if it’s an invite to a party  –  which ,  if you think about it ,  if you take away the free labor ,  it almost  is  a party .   ‘ raspberry lemonade  &  tea sandwiches will be provided by  moi .  all i ask in return is some help renovating thistlehouse .  pool is ,  of course ,  free to use as well . ’

“Renovation? Am I allowed to show up and just drink the lemonade and eat the sandwiches?” Ginger was mostly joking but she definitely didn’t want to do physical labor. “I can offer moral support!”

          “ yes, the estranged sister of jughead jones, at your service. it’s a pleasure to meet you too – ginger, that’s a cute name. whatcha up to there? ”

“It’s an okay name. I’m not the biggest fan of the name, to be honest.” Ginger looked down at her sketchbook then back up at the girl, a fond smile on her face. “I am working on a Christmas present for my little sisters. I’m designing and making a comic book about superhero twins.”
