Whatâs that? You think Iâm insanely attractive?Â
Youâre okay.Â

âi mean, i had the vague idea that you were the cooler and better twin, but this whole debacle just confirms that thought. magic does sound real dangerous, so letâs hope it doesnât backfire on me. but goddamn, what have you done to fuck around with people?â
âJust a vague idea? Perhaps I need to step up my game. It will definitely back fire, which is why youâve got to start off with the most boring things, like levitating a leaf. Like have you seen The Last Airbender tv show? When Aang needs to learn all of the elements and he starts with the tiniest things? Itâs like that. When I was in middle school this girl was annoying me, it was a pretty hot day, and she kept fanning herself as if she was royalty, so I wanted to make it harder for her and make the room warmer but I set her hair on fire by accident. Obviously no one knew it was me, but that was one big fuck up and fuck around all in one. I mean I didnât mean to, but my intentions werenât good either and I didnât particularly care.â

âIâve never considered it. Nor have I ever had to think about it. I thought I was content with the life I had. Itâs all Iâve ever had and Iâve never thought about any other life style. Why would I have thought about any other life style if I didnât know any different. And now Iâm here.â He shook his head and sighed. âI can create a snowstorm around me, and everyone asks what I want to do. And monsters are real. And Iâm never going to see my father again because itâs too dangerous. I canât go back to my normal life. And all everyone wants from me is to be happy. Is it really that easy? With all this shit around me, is just choosing to be happy really that easy?â
âI mean not to sound insensitive but perhaps now youâre away from your father youâll be able to be your own person and youâll realise how easy it is to be happy when no one has any expectations or demands.â Yuna said, as that was how she lived and she was perfectly happy. âBut hey, you can create a snowstorm, thatâs pretty cool.â

Not even white lies? So, essentially, youâre the real teenage witch and Sabrinaâs got nothing on you. It is but give me a warning next time. Iâm not sure how much more shock my heart can handle.
Oh, no never. Not me. Sabrina has nothing on me, even Hermione canât touch this. I did warn you! I literally said if I can make a pig fly then youâd agree with me on something--I forgot what we were arguing but I still win!
âDonât mind me, Iâm just doing this ironically.â
âAnd what exactly is that?â
âFeel free to come in. Iâd love the company.â
âNo need to beg, big guy.â
âHi-â
âIâm Mr. Smooth.â He jokes from the floor.
âWhat on Earth are you doing?â

âIâve never had reason to argue against it. I always thought if I was successful then happiness would come with it. But if I was happy now then wouldnât that ruin everything Iâve done so far?â He raised an eyebrow and looked at her. The girl who was basically shattering his whole world view. So far he had been a cracked window and she just took a sledgehammer to him. âWhy would me being happy matter if I wasnât successful?â
âNo, donât you know of all the celebrities that kill themselves? And thereâs nothing worse than reaching a goal and feeling empty because youâre not happy regardless of completing it. Why would it be ruined? Youâd be happy!â Yuna rolled her eyes, she couldnât fathom how he was struggling to understand. âIf you have nothing but youâre happy, why would you need anything else? Youâd be happy the way you were, you wouldnât need to go out of your way to complete aspirations because youâd already be content with your life. Havenât you heard of buddhism?! The entire belief stems from a wealthy prince who didnât want such a life, and found happiness and peace without it.â
murphy-atherton
âreally? thatâd be great if you could do that. i guess that kinda stuff hasnât come to me as easily because iâm not the cool magic prodigy that you are. the fact that youâre doing this makes you officially better than your twin,â she suppressed a laugh, but failed. âoh, and iâm not saying this to butter you up. itâs a legit compliment.â
âSure, witchcraft is fun and dangerous. You can fuck people up badly with it. Well, the fact youâd even have to state that suggests you believed I wasnât the cooler twin, which I am, and always have and will be. I wouldnât mind being buttered up. Nothing wrong with a big ego.â

J was utterly confused at this whole thing. His happiness was something he never even thought about but yet it was all anyone here would talk about. Before, if his father asked him to do something he would do it without a second thought. It was how his life had worked. His father completely ruled his life, sure he was a nice father but he controlled every aspect. Really the only thing J had ever done for himself was learning to play guitar and taking singing lessons, and even that had come with a price. âIâŠâ He paused. âI donât know what to say.â J was sure the confused look was evident on his face.
âAnd youâre speechless because clearly no one has ever argued against you for doing something your dad wants you to do--your dad obviously isnât going to complain when you do things he wants. So say whatever youâd like, change the subject if thatâs what makes you feel better. Happiness is key. If youâre successful but unhappy, is that really a success?â
icy-determination-jang
âBecause I did it for my father. My dad sacrificed a lot for me, so by dedicating myself to hard work like he wants me to is easy. Me being happy doesnât matter.â He shrugged. âI love singing. I love music. But itâs not what my father wants of me.â
âIf heâs sacrificed a lot for you, why is he not taking your happiness into account? To hell with what your dad wants, my dad wanted me to become a teacher and like hell am I doing that--I hate kids. I did some modelling, which he was against, but he still supported me and kept his opinions to himself because he knew I was happy.â

âwow, i didnât think youâd be so open to my questions,â murphy raised an eyebrow at her sisterâs response. âanyway, i just thought iâd ask if youâd help me with that sort of crap. cultivating magic? i know iâve got some in me, but i donât know how to use it because honestly, that shit would backfire on me. however, itâs clear that you know how to handle it. for the most part, ignoring the fact that you may learn a new spell to kill me off.â
âIâll have you know, I am very passionate about charity.â Yuna smiled, lifting her hair off of her shoulder and behind her back. âI could try, though I donât remember how I grasped it--It just sort of happened when I was younger. I think once you get passed that itâll be a lot easier, itâs like how I can move my limbs, I just do it. I mean, we could practise some traditional witchcraft, it might help if youâre feeling a bit more spiritual, you know?â
icy-determination-jang
J nodded. âAlright, if itâs what you say then Iâm sure you donât.â He tilted his head to the side at her statement. âIâve never been someone who is selfish. And Iâve succeeded because of hard work, not happiness. Iâm not someone who is generally a happy person, and if I am I donât show it. I just stick to my work and complete it. Thatâs who I am and thatâs who I have always been.â
âItâs not selfish. How can you put in the effort for something you are not passionate about? In the end it wonât be enough, as you are not happy. Well, thatâs stupid.â Yuna said, feeling herself get agitated by his words. She led an extremely positive lifestyle, because she was her own priority. âAre you not happy making music?â
murphy-atherton
âsure, sure,â murphy couldnât help by laugh at yunaâs reaction. âbut you forgot that you canât possibly kill a demon. you were too late to exorcize me anyway, poor thing. your magic is basically useless! although, i do have a whole question about the magic thing, if youâll take pity on this poor sicko.â
âI could probably learn a new spell in enough time to kill you before you kill me.â Yuna stared at her sister, baffled that she could be so nonchalant about trying to murder Yuna with her illness that sheâd ask a question. Yuna scoffed. âGo on then.â
icy-determination-jang
He raised an eyebrow. âYou seem to make a point that you may or may not like it quite often.â J pointed out. âAnd itâs because I would prefer not to be a burden on someone. That is how I was raised. Try to be the least amount of a burden as you can. So if I was doing something someone didnât like, I would stop and wait till I was alone.â J looked away from the cute girl and shrugged.
Yuna scoffed. âI do not do that.â She said, rolling her eyes at the boy. âWell, thatâs just stupid--how are you supposed to succeed in life if you stop and wait for everyone else to be happy? Spoiler alert: You donât succeed. Being selfish is such an underrated trait, itâs really not selfish at all to want yourself to be happy.â
murphy-atherton
âtoo late now!â murphy reached out to wrap her arms around yuna, laughing before she coughed in close proximity to her face. then she actually sneezed. âman, i am super sick. which means i can get you sicker even faster than before. how will your magic work now, yuna? you canât turn me into a fly!â
âAgh!? Wh-What do you think youâre doing!?â Yuna shrieked, trying to push her away but ultimately failing. âOh my god.â Yuna muttered to herself, wiping her face from the bacteria that Murphy had produced. âOh, magic works--it just doesnât work well. So instead of turning you into a fly, I might accidentally kill you, so actually it might work in my favour after all.â She said, glaring.
icy-determination-jang
J shrugged. âI was asking because I wasnât sure if it was bothering you. If me singing bothers even one person I would stop. I donât want to be a burden on anyone. Iâm not trying to drag you into anything. Iâm sorry if you think I am.â He shook his head. âItâs by an artist named Jack Johnson.â
âIt wasnât, not that I liked it, it just distracted me--I wasnât doing much of importance otherwise Iâd have yelled a lot. Plus, why do you care whether or not itâs a burden to someone? If you enjoy doing something you donât stop. Well, nice one to Jack.â
