Vulcans kiss with their hands.

Vulcans don’t initiate intimacy or physical contact (with only the exception of their bond-mate, or if absolutely necessary), especially in a public setting.

So, not only did Spock fucking reach out towards him first, he permitted Jim to take his hand lovingly in front of everyone in the sick bay.

Then there’s McCoy who’s having a tiny freak out moment as he silently realizes that they are literally kissing and making up after their obvious break-up, and doesn’t say a word. Not even one of his typical quips. Just stands there silently observing, allowing them this moment with equal parts relief and worry evident on his face. Happy that they’re no longer estranged, but worried that Jim may be heartbroken again.

Not to mention the most memorable line Spock says to Jim as they’re holding hands for an extended period of time, even after they’ve finished talking.

“This simple feeling…”

Then Jim nods his assent. Clearly indicating to Spock that it’s okay to love. That their love has always been okay, and there’s nothing to be afraid or ashamed of.

Then Spock nods back, indicating he’s ready to accept love, his T’hy’la, everything Jim has to offer.

And Jim smiles.
