Having read through the comments, I have a few suggestions from my experience. First what I came here to suggest: Infinite Monkey Cage - After being blown away by watching BBC's Wonders of the Universe, I went searching for a number of things; one being podcasts like you are. Searching 'Brian Cox' led me to Infinite Monkey Cage. It's a smart balance between hard science and comic relief. I think you'll like it. I began from the first episode and caught up to their most recent and I don't regret a second of it. Others that come to mind after reading through the comments: You Made it Weird with Pete Holms - His approach is one of unabashed weirdness with his guests. He pushes through awkwardness to the other side where he finds very honest conversation. Specifically the guests who relate to eastern philosophy, I think you'll find interesting based on your comments. He's a former Christian who subscribes to Buddhism and new age philosophy. Waking Up with Sam Harris - I suggest starting with episode one like I did. My path to this podcast was a suggestion to listen to #40 - Complexity & Stupidity. Listening to the first part I quickly realized I wanted to start from the beginning and build to this one. Surprisingly, I found two very different experiences. The evolution of Sam's mindset over forty odd episodes, and understanding that change, made a big impact on my perspective while listening to his conversation with David Krakauer in episode 40. My true enjoyment with Sam Harris comes when he explores topics around the mind, psychedelics, and enlightenment. The other topics he finds himself getting caught up in, however important, and he openly agrees, are frustrating, infuriating and boring. I hope you find it as insightful and enjoyable as I did. I'll mention Invisibilia and Radiolab together - Both spectacular. They're like brother and sister when it comes to exploring science and philosophy in practical apllied daily life. I also enjoy debating the viewpoints and disagrements I have with the hosts. Last, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History - While it might seem at first that I've suggested one that isn't squarely on the topic of science or philosophy, I think there is plenty of both to uncover in this one if you honestly listen. Dan does a wonderful and spectacular service to present the information, he and his team have tirelessly researched, honestly and with candid humor, curiosity, and insight.
