Celebrating our 2nd year together!!!
Had such a delightful weekend with Jib in Los Angeles. We started out at Club Nokia for the first ever LeetUp meet-up hosted by Kevin Pereira with special guests Kevin Smith, Chris Hardwick, Epic Mealtime, Alex Albrecht, Felicia Day, Greg Fitzsimmons, & Doug Benson (and appearances by Candace Bailey & Sara Underwood). It was a great little geeky get-together with a great slew of panelists. We got special VIP tickets (thank you, Jib!) so along with the awesome meet-n-greets in the VIP area, we also got swagbags o' wonderful geekery. Afterwards, checked into the swanky little boutique Hotel O in DTLA. The cutest little thang on Flower Street!
On Friday, it was a relaxing rhythm a lá small servings of LA: breakfast at Bottega Louie's, naptime at Angel's Knoll Park (site of 500 Days of Summer!), started a family-sized spiked punch (peach vodka & champagne!) at Tart at 2pm and ended at 6pm with the help of Isa & Xy, crepes at The Grove, rooftop drinks at The Standard graced by the presence of Nate & Karina, then back to Hotel O.
Saturday we kept it on the same chill note -- a search for the perfect breakfast joint leading us to the Blue Star dive in downtown. Amazing macaroni & cheese! Said byes to Nate & KP...and made our way to Melrose for a bit o' shopping. Jib got me some cute toysies at KidRobot to add to my collection!
It was an awesome weekend full of JibChib chippertown. I was super happy to celebrate another year with an awesome guy. :)
Happy 2 year anniversary Honeypie!
Musical marathon
So what did you think of the musicals you watched this past weekend Jib? There's still A LOT to put on your plate. We're getting your feet wet with some small productions...which will ultimately prepare you for Book of Mormon later this year. :)
Do you think you can keep up with it? :)
ANSWER:
I must say, seeing these two productions really gave me a newfound appreciation for musicals. Seeing them so up close and personal made me realize how insanely talented people have to be, (not to mention fearless), to get up in front of an audience and sing and dance and act, and make it appear so natural. It’s a totally different experience than a seeing a movie, or playing a video game. It’s much more intimate. The people are right there in front of you, laying their heart out, giving their all for the performance, to convince you that in that space, what they’re portraying is totally 100% real. And for that time, you buy it!
I can’t wait to see the next one with you, Babypie!
Dinner at Honda-Ya
Spicy tuna handroll, Nikujyaga (beef, potatoes, & assorted vegetable), Agedashi Tofu (tofu in tempura sauce (not pictured), 5 Yakitori special, sake & Sapporo
[TO DO LIST] Tapas at Tinto
Let's try this out Jib!
Tinto: If you like your plates like you like your little people (small, with handsome proportions), this Spanish influenced, modern-wine-cellar-esque tapas joint is your Warwick Davis. Highlights from the menu include prawn brochettes w/ chorizo, grape tomato & espelette chili, Berkshire pork belly w/ honey liquor and shaved apple, and a short rib sandwich w/ bacon, asparagus & celery root aioli, whose smooth composition is utterly trippy.
I want me some charcuterie!
Sweet Treats
From my Valentine :) xoxoxo
g
Justin's 30th Birthday at his place in LA. Lot's 'o booze and Asians. And some Michael Jackson on Kinect. Maybe you'll get to see the birthday boy's epic birthday toast. If you're lucky.
Karina's 23rd Birthday Bash at Ra Pour in Victoria Gardens. It was drama free! Win!
Hey Jib
Would you rather be funny. Or happy? -Chib
A: To summarize me answer I gave you yesterday, almost everything I do is a means to make me happy. Being funny wouldn’t be as much fun if I didn’t have somebody to make laugh. And seeing somebody enjoy my company is what makes me happy. So I’d rather be happy, even if I wasn’t funny.
-Jib
We watched Smash last night and it was spectacular!!! The musical numbers were outstanding...I love the Marilyn theme! And both Megan & Katharine have showstopping voices. All in all, a superb pilot episode.
Ya'll better watch out if I find these songs on a karaoke list somewhere!!! :)

Cherry made a oven-roasted herb chicken! Excellent!
Jib & Chib's First Audio Podcast (uncut)
On a whim, Jib & Chib bought biscuit dough, and made EMPANADAS! They came out a bit flour-y. Will do better next time! (secret ingredients: brown sugar and cumin)
Big Bear 2012 Peeps! It was all couples (KP&Nate, JustinYU&Yvonne, Faithy&Nick, David&Roger, Jib&Chib [of course]), and the Birthday Boy Truong. Friday night we all met at the cabin and celebrated Troung's day 'o birth proper styles. Saturday we boarded. Came back to the cabin and made tacos. Then Sunday we took some pics by the lake, and finished it off at Niko2 in 909! Good times.
After the tour de force that is Breaking Bad, comes Downton Abbey. One episode away from the finale! (to be cont.)
Finished the Christmas Special, or what I think should just be the season 2 finale. Charity claims the series has surpassed Breaking Bad as the Best Show Ever. I beg to differ. While engaging and aesthetically pleasing as a period piece, it lacks a certain amount of weight to it. And it isn't quite shocking enough for my taste. But an excellent series nonetheless.
Retroactive post for 01.20.2012. IKKO SUSHI! The first time we went togeather, may it not be the last...
