— drove this time to your house at { night }; saw a car, but it sure ain't mine. must be someone here, it's my worst fear. not my first tear. all this is, is another mistake to check off my list; all this is, is another big break with promises. hard to stop when my car's in drive, when I { can't } stop thoughts of driving right inside your place. must be someone here, it's my worst fear. not my first tear.
One of the best things about Hunny is how expressive he is, not just in his countenance, but in the tone of his voice. The smile that appears on his face can be heard so well, he’s grinning aloud when he talks. “Hey, I appreciate your company. I’ve told you that, right? You’re doing me a favor by coming with me. Imagine if I were here alone, with only the bees and the birds to listen to me? I think they’d fly away as fast as they could.” It’s a touch self-deprecating, but in such a soft way that it doesn’t come across as anything other than what it’s meant to: a small joke at his own expense, with a playful cadence to the way he speaks.
The sound of him shifting in the grass a bit can be heard, a slight rustling to it, and he draws Jie’s hand over into his lap without really thinking about it. He’s touch-comforted, and there’s some element of communication in there as well, for what it’s worth. Absentmindedly, he traces alongside the length of their fingers with the pads of his own, feather-light. “Plus, it’s just really easy to be around you. I mean, I have other people it’s easy to be around, but…” he pauses, hesitating for a few moments as he orders his thoughts, and then continues on after the lapse as if he hadn’t stopped, “you’re different. I like to know I’ll be understood.” There. That makes sense, right? Hunny hopes so.
* // ☾✦. —— NODDING. Jieho was welcomed with the warmth of words, radiance in syllables, as they followed along intently... as if what Hunny spoke held the secrets of the world. “You have.” Fondness was thick in Jieho’s tone, curl of roseate petals upturned, “Just as I appreciate your company,” and help, “But, don’t be so silly! The bees and the birds would swarm to you like you were some Disney princess... It’s only because I’m scaring them away that they don’t.” Jieho’s laughter danced with a passing breeze, resemblance of honey, as they assumed the nature of the conversation to be playful. Jieho held more confidence in interactions with Hunny, there was a clearer expression in his tone... perhaps, that is why they are so fond of the other.
Resistance was void, limb outstretched to position itself on the lap of the other, settling without question.. the sensations gliding over flesh were comforting. Jieho made a home in their position on the grass, weight of a skull finding the crevice of knees, inhaling the aromas that danced through the breeze. “That makes sense... I understand what you mean,” Jieho beamed, a radiance found in the pigments of cheeks and tone of voice, “It’s easy being with you too... It’s freeing in a way, like, I know I’m safe.” They attempted to return sentiment, whilst a palm searched for the outline of a body and guided them to leaning against Hunny.
jinwoo glanced at them, realizing only then that they had not, in fact, been the culprit of his mistakenly-tossed book. “ it wasn’t you, actually. ” jiwu replied warily, tilting his head to get a better understanding of the stranger’s expression. “ must’ve left it somewhere. ”
* // ☾✦. —— RELIEF. Flooded exhalation, clenched chest releasing guilt-tainted burdens, tension (that had stiffened muscles) fading, “Oh! Really? You’re sure?” Question glided from lips, the wonder of it the stranger had only said such a thing to prevent Jieho from feeling bad, “Well... If it is just lost, I hope you find it.”
she gave a huff, and pushed her hand through her hair. “the sad thing is that i don’t even remember anything i just read,” she admitted, looking down to her laptop. “i don’t think there is anything you can do, uh, but i appreciate it.”
* // ☾✦. —— SYMPATHY. Jieho exhaled softly, roseate petals twitching with hope of giving the best response, as they began mindlessly playing with their own digits. “Hm,” ponder slipped between lips, neck crooked to the left, “Why don’t you record yourself reading the notes? It’s said that when you listen back on them, even when sleeping, you’re more prone to remember them!” They suggested, shrug following words, “I’ll be here to support you, anyway... and when you’re done, we can go out and do anything that you wish, my treat. How does that sound?”
one would think that someone living in a city for two years would have some sense of direction or be able to recognize streets by landmarks at the very least; as it would happen parker was not one of those people. he wandered until he was lost, and then he’d wander because he was lost. it was just like him to tell the one person in his writing group who lived near him that he’d be good to get home on his own and manage to end up turned around. it was becoming something of a bad habit. “quick question, you wouldn’t happen to know how to get to hopdoddy’s from here, would you?”
* // ☾✦. —— EXHALE. Knees were pressed firm against a chest, Jieho seeking comfort on a bench that decorated a street (it had been a long day of mindless wander) and allowing the gradual coolness, with the descent of the sun, to grace over flesh. Footsteps signalled the approach of a body, Jieho hadn’t expected to be spoken to, however the suddenness of a voice failed to startle, instead their lips simply curled in apology. “I’m sorry,” Jieho offered, restricted vision outlining the basic shape of the figure before them, “Lotus is my eyes... and she’s awful with directions.”
“Do you ever have people that try to hit on you that just deserve a huge “REJECTED” stamp on their forehead? Like please… Get away from me.“
* // ☾✦. —— AMUSEMENT. Light bubble of laughter seeping over curled petals, as Jieho shook their head, “Can’t say I’ve ever really been hit on... Is it really that bad?”
Nat wasn’t sure of why the other person was asking her of what’s going on but she was glad that they didn’t move a muscle. It made it easier for her to print his visage unto paper as she sketched. It almost looked like a scene from a movie to her since they were holding out a bouquet against their chest while the surrounding of people pass through. “Thank you!” she said aloud. “I was sketching you. Do you want to take a look?”
* // ☾✦. —— GRATITUDE. Syllables that seeped served as a prompt, Jieho returning to search for the location of the other (a skill that they had mastered over the years — where their eyes failed them, their ears made up for it)... confusion twisting gentle features. With the explanation, an expression softened and their head shook lightly, “As much as I’d love to, I doubt I’d really be able to see it.” Explanation hummed, polite, as digits signalled to the partner besides feet, “Lotus here is my eyes. She’s a bit useless when it comes to complimenting art forms, though.”
An adventure. That’s what they call it when they go out in the mornings, and Hunny thinks that it’s quite fitting; getting up this early is a habit he got into a long time ago, but he finds it much easier to not dislike the follow through when he has something to look forward to. Going on walks with Jie and just spending time outside and around them is definitely something he looks forward to more often than not these days. He’s incredibly busy in his day-to-day life, so it’s nice to just have a little bit of time set aside for this. Just being.
“God, it’s hot.” He doesn’t complain much typically, but when he does complain, it’s usually about the heat. One would think he’d be more acclimated to it by now, but it’s early enough in the morning that he sort of considers it a personal insult to him that the sun would already be burning this bright. Reaching over in between them, he takes Jie’s hand with a practiced delicacy, and carefully shows them he’s straying into a different direction. “I need a break. We’re going to sit in the grass. Oh, there’s a bee. Are you allergic to bees?” As per usual, his erratic patterns of speech are coming through. His pace is under control, though, and he flops himself cross-legged down onto the ground, giving Jie’s hand a little tug.
* // ☾✦. —— MORNING. Early hours were welcomed with radiance, the dancing melodies of an alarm clock, and the knowledge that they were soon to acquaint with Hunny. Mornings that provided adventures were favoured, it’s freeing to wander and be certain of safety, an extra prep in Jieho’s step ... and speed in a morning routine. Swift motions, metal clasping at the bridge of a nose (shades opted for, even if a fondness was void — due to colours being distorted with the use — as they allowed the blurred shapes to still appear), and Jieho was out the door... Lotus in tow.
“You could say that,” Jieho retorted, lightness laced in syllables, whilst digits tugged at fabric that glued to flesh. They had always been fond of the warmer weather, despite the discomfort it would bring with it... it was a reminder of dancing sensations of sunlight streams against the bare flesh of thighs, and the light hum of floral scents. “Okay!” Jieho responded, brightness in a voice, body following the new direction being prompted with full trust, “And, no, I’m not allergic to bees.” Melodic laughter parted, soft against a summer breeze, as intertwined legs collapsed their frame against the grass, “Hey, thanks for letting me join you... again.”
“Hey you!” Nat just hoped that she sounded as loud as she hoped to be. “Yeah, yes, you! I think you should hold it right there. Don’t move.” Eyes darting back and forth to their sketchbook and the other. She scribbled down the basic sketch of the pose, a few lines here and there. “I said… don’t move,” she chided, even though she wasn’t looking at anything but her book and sketches as she quickly sketched.
* // ☾✦. —— flowers against a chest , bouquet completed ( even if it had taken extra hours , stole from time at home ) , following tasks led unfamiliar routes to be followed . delivery . eruption of syllables , startled , and a prompt for a thudding chest . ears attempted to source , head moving , searching through quiet murmurs of strangers , but this was cut short — continuation of the same voice . obedient , yet concerned ... falter of upturned lips , “ uh, what’s going on? ”
“god, i’m so fucked,” she muttered under her breath, giving a loud sigh. continuing on, logan more spoke to whoever would listen. “i had actual work to do, and i spent the last three hours looking through clickbait– oh, well, at least i learned 50 messed up history facts.”
thin line curling , a gentle-amusement consumed jieho’s features ... hint of sympathy tangled with the furrow of a brow , “ you’ll manage it ... ” they offered , belief genuine , “ you’ll know your fifty history facts and have done the work you needed to ! ” shoulders life , delicate exhalations , “ but , if there’s anything i can help you with, i’m happy to help ! ”
“y’all, you ever just witness the craziest shit that seems almost unbelievable?” fern mused aloud. “i mean i just saw a naked dude on roller skates going down the street and i’m not even tripping. nobody even batted an eyelash. what the fuck?”
bubbled laughter , lids crinkled to a shut in humour , following words to emit the other ... it was a sight that jieho was thankful to not even have the capabilities to imagine . “ comments like that make me wonder if having sight is all that great. ” they joked , digits making a home in hair , tangling with the strands.
“ hate to break it to ya’ hun, ” cash’s voice was raised for the patron to be able to hear him. in the other’s state, the volume of their voice might not be the biggest problem with the person’s understanding them. “ last call was an hour ago. ”
jieho shook their head , hair dancing across a brow line , protest against the assumption , “ i’m not here for a drink. ” reassurance rang in the syllables , “ i’m actually just a bit lost … ” palm planted itself against the nape of their neck , “ sorry, i just need a bit of help. ”
“ why would you do that? ” jinwoo huffed dramatically. “ why would you throw out my book? ”
“ oh — ” ears searched , source of the exhalation and emitting words , their head twisting to meet … “ i — i didn’t realise. ” guilt was thick in jieho’s tone, as their skull dipped , “ i thought it was something else. ”

BACKSTORY
TRIGGER WARNINGS :
brief mention of death.
CHILDHOOD — 0 to 13 :
Jieho was born in Gwacheon, South Korea, to a single-parent household. Their father had walked out on their mother when she had announced her pregnancy. Their upbringing wasn’t ideal, however, considering the situation that both Jieho and their mother were in, they managed well.
Jieho’s mother worked as a nurse and her shifts often took place throughout the night ( the pay was higher on these shifts, which is why she put herself forward for the hours … she had to put food on the table, after all ) and would be over the span of many hours. It meant that Jieho didn’t spend much time with their mother growing up.
At the age of three, Jieho lost most of their eye sight. The condition has worsened over the years, however, at a much slower rate ( due to the medications that Jieho takes ). Because of it occurring at an early age, Jieho remembers little to nothing about life with vision, and has many years to become used to their situation … it’s something that does come with struggles, but, Jieho knows how to handle them and they don’t know a life away from it.
Jieho was fortunate that their mother was a socialite away from their work and, therefore, had a large support system from friends. It meant that Jieho was always cared for, even if it meant that they had to venture to others houses on occasion … it was something that quickly became routine, and Jieho knew of nothing different.
Jieho and their mother, despite seeing little of each other, were always close. What ever Jieho could to to help out, they would and whenever they had the moment, they would spend their time with each other.
In school, Jieho always worked their hardest. The motivation to become successful was only encouraged by knowing that they could help their mother out … Jieho wanted her out of the constant routine of barely eat, barely sleep and work. It paid off with the consistently high grades.
They weren’t the most popular, however. It was expected … after all, who would want to spend time with the kid who could barely see? It was more effort than it was worth ( at least to them ). It wasn’t the most enjoyable experience, having to spend lunches sitting alone and having nobody to talk to during long days, but, Jieho just got on with it. It was something that helped with their independence.
ADOLESCENCE — 13 to 18 :
When Jieho was thirteen, they got their first job. It was working alongside a family friend and didn’t really offer much, however, it was a start … it gave experience and it was a safe working environment for the child. It was here that they developed their love for flowers ( and all things nature ).
Across the road from where Jieho was working was a florist … everyday after their shift, the child would spend countless hours wandering around and appreciating all of the bright colours that they could see. Eventually, they started buying flowers with extra change in their pocket, to give to their mother, and arranging them based off touch and the blur of colours.
When Jieho was sixteen, they finally got themselves a guide dog. They felt as if they were struggling to really get the independence they craved, still having to rely on others to navigate their way, and so fought for the helping hand. It took a while, but Lotus was worth it. Jieho got their independence.
It was at this age that Jieho began pursuing their passion and landed a job in the florist, that they had admired daily for the past three years … admittedly, it took little to convince the owners to employ them ( after all, they had grown to love their most frequent customer … Jieho’s extensive knowledge on flowers helped too ). For the next two years, Jieho worked extremely hard towards their job, dedicating all of their time away from school to the place … even if they weren’t there, they were practising or learning more at home.
Their love never faded for the place or the job they had began to pursue, so, when they finished school, it became full time work. Life was on track for Jieho and their mother, both now putting funds into the home meant they had the luxury of extra … which was always put into savings for Jieho, their mother insisted. However, things took a quick turn.
ADULTHOOD — 18 to 24 :
It was unexpected, however, one morning Jieho’s mother just never woke up. It was declared as a heart failure, something nobody had anticipated, and Jieho was crushed. They had lost their best friend and mother overnight. When the news broke, Jieho was introduced to family that they had only ever heard their mother speak of … members that lived overseas. It was at this time that they met their Aunt and after some discussion, Jieho decided it was a good decision to move in with her.
It was a fresh start and the worry of supporting themselves alone was wiped. Jieho moved to Austin at the age of eighteen and has been here since. It helped with the process of grieving, being with someone who adored their mother as much as Jieho had, and being away from the same home that they had shared with her. They quickly found home in a florist and is now the manager within the store ( hopes of owning their own one day ) … and that’s basically all up to date.
VISION
Disclaimer: I’m not an expert and there is a chance that I may have got some facts wrong. I tried my best with the research, however, if you notice a mistake, let me know !
Jieho was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of three. The condition was the trigger for Uveitis (Pan-Uveitis), unfortunately, as it was not caught early enough, Jieho’s vision has been permanently damaged.
Jieho’s pupils are unresponsive, therefore, light levels can alter Jieho’s level of vision.
Jieho’s sight is clouded and they struggle to distinguish defined shapes. When it comes to their work, Jieho relies heavily on their touch to identify flower types, but their sight is enough to notice the colours.
