Letter to Kitazawa Saki from Kobayashi Kana (From 6/15/15, Kitazawa Saki Seitansai)
You probably couldn’t have guessed that this letter would be from me. I’m surprised myself.
I guess you really are my fan huh! Hello this is Team K’s Kobayashi Kana.
Right here, everyone gasp in astonishment!

Well, on to business. My impression of Sakichan is her constant smile, and I think that she’s a serious, and very caring child. I’m not sure when we began talking so much, but I am sure that it was Saki-chan who started it.
I’m not the type who talks all that much with my juniors. But Saki-chan would say “Please let’s take a picture!”, or “It turns out that I’ll be performing in Kobayashi-san’s seitansai”, sending me LINEs too, and through all this talking to one another became natural.
Even though the children of Team 4 advised you that “Kobayashi-san is scary, so be careful” *laughter*, you were willing to form a relationship with me, which surprised me.
But it’s also thanks to Saki-chan that I realized I have to have more communication with my many juniors. Thank you.
I was happy when you told me you love performances. As you’ve been appearing in Team K performances, I’ve observed you secretly and noticed the quality of your performing gets better each day. For sure, I’ve admired how you must be working very hard behind the scenes.
It’s motivating for me at the same time. I can’t let myself lose!
There’s truly a lot that I learn from my juniors, including Saki-chan. This is because everyone is really shining.
I think balancing academics and work is something that’s never easy. When I joined AKB I too was a student, but now there are more dances to learn than in those days, the workload is greater as well, and I think it’s really good to work hard.
From now on, although in addition to the fun times there will be many frustrating times, let’s overcome them together.
I believe that a dream that is just a dream won’t come true. So seize the day, and the opportunities, for yourself. I’ll do my best too.
Here’s to Saki-chan’s 18th year to be one that follows closer to her catchphrase: “Dream big and aim high”! And again, Happy Birthday!
