Art trade piece for my friend Ursa ✨

Felt like adding more context. My friend was like, “Draw me one of those fat dragons,” and I was like, “Say no more.” So I drew him a hag dragon with sagging, dried up breasts. I wanted to play with the idea of a full, firm stomach as a distorted reflection of pregnancy or inverse. There’s no nurturing or fertility here only gluttony, greed and malice. For the design, I combined rat like features with more traditional fantasy reptilian traits to create something grotesque and unsettling.

Death (XIII)

For my tarot depiction of Death (XIII), I drew inspiration from the remarkable Danse Macabre fresco in the Church of St. Mary on Škriljinah. Painted in 1474 by the workshop of Master Vincent of Kastav, the fresco is one of the oldest preserved depictions of this theme. Created in the aftermath of the bubonic plague, it reflects the idea of death as something unavoidable that comes for everyone equally, no matter their status, power or wealth.

In tarot, though, the death card is usually read more as transformation or transition rather than a literal ending. It’s actually not as frightening as it first appears! Because of that, I chose the detail of two cheerful skeletons guiding a child for my interpretation. The scene can still feel ominous, mysterious, and a little unsettling, but at the same time the skeletons are simply leading the child forward, almost like a reflection of the anxieties that come with change and moving into a new stage of life.

Where will I be able to find your fanzine? <3

Hi! The zine ended up stuck in finishing purgatory because of health stuff and commissions taking priority, but I’m still hoping to eventually release a PDF version.

As for a printed version, I still need to figure out how to do it without paying an absurd amount out of pocket since it’s a Plastiboo fanzine and I don't want to sell it. 😅
