Jenny & Americoâs Engagement Shoot
Spring his here and wedding season is fast approaching. Itâs exciting to have a busy summer ahead and Iâm really looking forward to all of the celebrations. Jenny and Americoâs wedding is very soon and I canât wait to capture their special day.Â
I had the idea of a bluebell wood for the engagement shoot location but with time and daylight not being on our side we decided on the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Cliche? It worked out perfectly. I love this angle with both the bridge and the Observatory in view.
Jenny first met Americo whilst travelling in Peru 5 years ago and they have been madly in love ever since. They were both really looking forward to the engagement shoot as they have been busy with organising the wedding.
With a little guidance they were naturals, always laughing and smiling in each others company.
We made a quick detour to Clifton Village as I knew of a beautiful blossoming cherry tree. It would have been rude not to have taken a few shots!
At the end of the shoot as the sun started to set the sky came alive and with the suspension bridge as the backdrop it provided us with a magical ending.Â

Ross and Beccyâs Wedding
In early November last year local studio photographer Ross Campbell approached me on Instagram (@jimcosseyphotography) and asked if I would meet him and his wife to be Becky to have a chat about shooting their wedding. Being an Aussie I assumed he loved good coffee, so I suggested to meet at Full Court Press in Bristol, Iâm pretty sure that was the deal breaker! Ross had seen my night time flash photography on Instagram and as they were having an evening wedding, Ross and Beccyâs main focus was to capture beautiful shots of them in the streets of Bath and not so much on the traditional side of wedding photography i.e the speeches and the first dance... I was a little nervous at first as Ross is very talented photographer, but I was very excited to shoot a wedding at the Roman Baths and this was a great opportunity to create memories and stunning pictures.
I met Ross and his best man outside their hotel in the quant streets of the old city where we started the wedding shoot.Â
Ross and Becky were doing things a little different on their evening, the plan was to take photos of the of them both in the streets of Bath and then onwards to shoot the baths before the ceremony began. This worked out really well as it was a good amount of time to get the shots that Becky and Ross wanted of them in the beautiful streets.Â
Opposite the entrance to the Roman Baths is Bath street where I started to photograph Beccy and Ross against the pillars, it was a great foreground and the photoâs worked out really well.Â
Heading into the baths we had about 25 minutes before the guests arrived for the ceremony.Â
It was a cold night but the temperature was just right as steam rose off the main bath creating a beautiful setting.Â
The setting was just speechless, flaming torches on the old pillars lit up the bath, whilst the 2000 year old architecture helped set the scene for the beautiful evening wedding.
We then Headed up to the top of the baths for more photos, where we had great views of Bath Abbey that provided an impressive backdrop.
The ceremony was beautiful with a warm heartfelt poem from the one of the bridesmaids.Â
With the signing of the registrar, it was a short walk to the other side for mulled wine and cider whilst the guests socialised before heading upstairs for the wedding breakfast.
Becky and her bridesmaids looked beautiful with their furry shrugs and stunning floral bouquets.
The wedding breakfast commenced with a seasonal buffet and delicious puddings but for me that was the end of the evening. I left them to carry on with the speeches and first dance.Â
Thanks again to Becky and Ross for letting me be part of their special day and for capturing beautiful memories.Â
Thanks to all the staff that did an amazing job at The Roman BathsÂ

Ah man, had the best weekend showing @josh.perrett @alkalloyd_ @ady.rian and @antimitch around my favourite parts of Snowdonia and we still had so much stuff we didn't see. We were blessed with amazing weather and were treated to this awesome sunset on our second evening taken from my phantom 3 and yes I still have the phantom after flying it through gorges, past waterfalls and over tops of mountains. (at Pen-y-Pass)
2nd fly over Clevedon at sunset.
Very pleased to be collaborating with @unclejackwatches as they have just lauched in U.K. I have been wearing mine for just over a week now and it's an awesome watch. Be sure to check them out! As I'm staying at the beautiful @thebodyholiday resort it's only fitting to have some bubbles on the beach. Thanks to the great staff for thier help with the shoot. #myunclejack (at The Bodyholiday)
I'm currently on the beautiful island of St Lucia for a few weeks, staying at the @thebodyholiday resort. This was just after sunrise yesterday morning as the jet lag meant that I was up and awake at 5:30 am ready for a rum punchđč (at The Bodyholiday)

Skater + Smoke = Stoke
After my first couple of shoots with Schaeffer I had an idea of combining smoke with skateboarding..smoke is very hip right now, imagine a craft beer drinking hipster with Gelato in his beard! Yes that âhipâ but the thought of having a skateboarder flying through a cloud of smoke had to be done.
Iâd asked my good mate and talented photographer Josh  that we should collaborate and rather just swap a couple of raw files to edit we would actually plan and shoot together.
Come the day of the shoot conditions made locations limited, weâd agreed to meet under the M32 at DIY but as it was wet  so was every everyone one else so we quickly made a plan B and headed to Dean Lane. Trying to be optimistic about the rain holding off whilst driving across Bristol straight under a black cloud, you could say our chances of getting this shot were becoming slim.
After arriving we quickly set up and started shooting while the rain started to come down Schaeffer  didn't let the rain hold him back, nor did did he let the blanket of thick smoke covering his take off of the kicker and leaving him guessing where his landing was.
Me and Josh set up in two different spots trying to maximise angles. I was shooting with my 50mm open fully at F1.8 as I wanted depth of field Josh had his wide 16mm on and we both had two sets of off camera flash set ups to get some creative lighting, with the use of flash I could underexpose the shot leaving the background as dark as I could get it so it would fade out the background. Now the tricky bit, I had to light the smoke bombs then quickly run back and compose the shot, we had about 4 runs with each bomb before the smoke ran out we had about 6 bombs just incase, Schaeffer was pretty much continuously lapping the wedge not even stopping to take a breathe.
We not only had smoke but also sparks, we often carry a whisk and some steel wool when we head out to shoot as it can come in really handy to make a awesome picture especially in the dark corners of Bristol. Â
We came up with the idea of wrapping some steel wool around Schaefferâs skateboard trucks or wheels in laymanâs terms as we wanted to set a long exposure shot of sparks flying as Schaeffer would skate towards the kicker and flip the board in the air (kickflip) again it took a few goes but I think we nailed it.
The result was awesome and considering we had so little time we managed to get some great shots.
Big thanks to Schaeffer and Eve for their effort and time.
Go check out Schaefferâs facebook page
You can find more from Josh here or on instagram
Myself and Josh will be working on some other collaborations and projects throughout the year so Iâll look forward to showing you more of our creative side to photography.

Last night me, @bokehtone and @ben_adams88 went down to Cheddar Gorge to meet up with @trex.photography as he's just got back from travelling around Australia and New Zealand and has an amazing feed of photos from his travels! We just managed to scramble up the to the top of the gorge to catch the last light and a car trail down below. It was a first for taking the camera to the gorge, we will be back again for sure.
