Imagine taking on Spiderman in Civil War
Hello everyone, I am back with a new fic! I’m going to explain it for a few seconds so feel free to skip to the story or stick around for a few moments. I really like the idea of me being able to take down the Avengers, as much as I want to fight alongside them (like would I be strong enough to?) You know. Anyway, I haven’t seen a lot of fight scenes between characters in Civil War in fan fiction so I wrote one and I think it went well, so hopefully you think so too. I am absolutely over the moon for Spiderman, so don’t take this fic as a diss to Spiderman!
My lungs are ready to collapse as I sprint through everyone else’s fight in pursuit of the one person I need to catch. Spiderman. I don’t know him, don’t know what his face looks like, and I need to if I’m going to beat him. Tony knows that. Tony probably warned the kid about me. From what everyone’s been saying, he’s pretty young. But then again, I’m pretty young, so that’s not much to judge someone on.
I stop in my tracks and look around to see if I can locate him. I know he was just in this area, but I don’t see him now. I am moving my hand to radio Steve when I hear a thump behind me.
He made a deliberate noise, I know that much. I turn around and cock my head at him. That stupid mask. If he would just take it off for a second…
“Hi,” I say, not moving. I don’t want to scare him away.
“Hi.” He says, taking a hesitant step forward. What is he waiting for? He must think I’m cute or something.
“I’m Mira,” I say softly, extending my hand to him. Come on Spider, shake my hand.
He ignores my action, but responds to my words. “Nice to meet you. You with Cap?”
I nod. “Yep. You with Tony?”
“Yeah…” He tries to run a hand through his hair and then realizes that he’s wearing a mask. Embarrassed, he laughs, and then says, “Well this has been fun, but I think we gotta fight now.”
Without warning, web fluid comes shooting out of his wrist and hits my bare arm so that I am thrown onto a metal pole behind me. Now that will be fun to add to my collection of powers.
I let out a blood-curdling scream. “It’s burning me!” He sprints to my side.
“What do you mean it’s burning you?”
I hyperventilate and continue to scream through gritted teeth. “Get it off,” I moan weakly.
Now he begins to panic. “Okay, you’re gonna be fine, don’t worry.” He claws at his web, and breaks it rather easily.
I lean forward, locking hands with him as he catches me. Immediate power begins to flow through me, but I still need to see his face if I’m going to impersonate him.
“I’m sorry,” He says with genuine concern in his voice.
I stare into the mask and then quietly respond. “No, I’m sorry.” Suddenly I leap onto him, pushing him down. He takes a moment to react, but a moment is all I need, and then I have caught hold of the mask and ripped it off.
“Give that back!” He yells, swinging his arm at me, apparently still not wanting to test out whether or not I’m actually allergic to the web. I duck and return his punch. He dodges it, and sprays me in the arm again, pinning me to the ground.
He grabs for the mask, but stubborn as I am, I tighten my grip on the cloth. His eyebrows furrow and I can tell that he’s getting angry. Angry enough to stop pulling his punches.
I rip my arm out of the web only to have him punch me hard in the cheek. He’s strong, and his punch floors me. I groan, but push myself back up to a standing position.
“Wait!” I yell, just as he’s about to spray me. His split second pause of surprise is all I need to spray him in the face with web fluid.
It distracts him, and I stride over and kick him in the groin. I know it’s a dirty trick, but Tony is going to be really pissed when he finds out that I beat up his pet project, so I’d rather he find out later, and I’m a little pressed for time.
Say what you will, the groin is like an Achilles heel. Spider drops like a ton of bricks. A ton of bricks that can groan, of course.
I can read his thoughts, and he’s being his own cheerleader right now. Get up Peter, he’s saying.
“Peter, stay down.” I order, changing into Quicksilver and stripping him out of his suit. Once I’ve put on his costume, I slow back down to administer a dose of sleeping darts to Peter to make him unable to follow me, or tell Ironman that I’m not the real Peter.
He watches me, feebly lifting his arm to try to spray me one last time. I step over to him and pick him up. “Okay, let’s get you somewhere safe.” He looks shocked that I’m not leaving him out in the open, but I don’t hate him, I just need to use his identity. No need to hurt him any more than I already have.
As Peter’s eyes roll into the back of his head, I run into an area where I see Bucky pinned down on the ground with his arm in a web. His eyes widen as he sees me, and I brace myself for the punch he’s going to throw when I free him.
“Hey, if I let you go, can you get this kid somewhere safe?” I ask. Bucky stares at me. “Look I know we’re fighting, but this kid hasn’t done anything wrong so can you take him somewhere safe?”
He nods slowly, and I rip the webbing off his arm in one motion. “Thanks.” He takes Peter from me, and sprints in the other direction.
My comm buzzes in my ear. Well, one of them does, I have mine and Peter’s in. “Spider just gave me a kid, what do I do with him?” It’s Bucky.
“Just put him in the airport, we can grab him afterwards.” Steve’s voice grunts through the speaker.
“Peter, what kid? Where did you find him?” Tony, in the other ear.
Crap. Obviously the suit has a listening device on it.
“Just on the road, I don’t know how he got here. He’s fine though.”
“Who is that? Spiderman? How did you get one of our comms?” Steve’s voice picks up clarity. “This is supposed to be Mira’s comm. Where is she?”
I can’t say anything, obviously, because Tony’s listening, so instead I run out onto the tarmac and search the area for someone I can help. Hawkeye and Black Panther are fighting, Hawkeye losing badly.
“Oh crap,” I hear Hawkeye sigh as he takes me in. He notches an arrow into the bow and draws back to shoot me, only to have Black Panther jump in front of it.
“Thanks,” I shout, diving over to them and punching Black Panther in the face. He stumbles backwards, and I spray his feet with my web fluid so that he trips and falls over.
“What are you doing?” He yells.
“Wait, are you… Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry! I forgot you were on my side.” I push past Clint, who’s looking confused, and give him the two finger tap, our code for Mira in disguise.
I’m so busy being proud of myself that I don’t see Steve running at me, so when he takes a swing, he catches me off guard. The wind gets knocked out of me as I hit the ground and Steve starts railing on me. “Where is she?” He yells at me. “I know you did something to her, what was it?”
“She’s fine, I didn’t do anything to her, I promise!”
Tony’s voice speaks in my ear. “Peter, where’s Mira?”
“She’s fine, Tony, honest, I didn’t hurt her!”
Steve grabs me and set me upright. “Don’t lie.”
Come on Bucky, put two and two together before Tony does.
On cue, Bucky comes sprinting towards us. “Steve, leave him alone, he’s doesn’t have her.”
Of course, now it’s Tony’s turn to figure it out. “Peter, what’s our code?” He says with some urgency.
“Mr. Stark, I can’t exactly talk right now,” I grunt, jumping behind Steve to give him the two finger tap.
“Peter, I will shoot you down if you can’t give me the code right now.” I hear him approaching me from behind, and I know I’m about to be found out.
I hear his arm charging up and I spin around to face him. “Mr. Stark-”
“Mira, you have him, I know you do. Where is he?”
“He’s fine,” I sigh, figuring that the truth will ultimately set me free.
Tony fires at me immediately, and I step out of the way as Quicksilver to let it go past. Once it’s gone, I step back into my spot and fall to the ground with a yelp.
Tony lowers himself to the ground and comes to take a look at me. I change back into my own body, but make it look as though I have a gaping wound in my side where he shot me. This way, he’ll associate me with being wounded, and so when I’m not wounded, he’ll think it’s really Peter.
He lifts the mask off my head and looks me in the eyes. “Where is he?” He asks again, this time pushing each syllable out slowly through his teeth. “I told you, he’s safe,” I groan. He raises his hand as though he’s going to punch me and I flinch in anticipation of the blow. When he sees my reaction he lowers his fist, sighs, and then suddenly realizes that Steve and Bucky have made their get-away while I have been distracting him.
“Mira, do you promise me that he’s safe?” Tony says. I nod. “Okay, I believe you. I also know you’re not hurt, so get up and get Peter out of here, you understand?”
I nod again and get up onto my feet. “Good luck,” I whisper.
He turns back and looks at me for a moment. “You too, Mira.”
