The look that the other man flashed Detective Gordon wasn’t lost on Kara and she shot him a rather scathing look of her own. The blonde knew how people liked to sugarcoat things ut she wouldn’t stand for it now and she was glad that the young detective was telling her exactly what was going on. Kara wasn’t sure about this man. She kept her eyes on him for a few more moments before turning her attention right back to Detective Gordon. Once he’d finished speaking, she knew that whatever he needed of her, she’d do. She wasn’t sure if she trusted the other two and Kara was usually a really good judge of character, for the most part at least. At Jim’s words, Kara Tilted her head to the side and smiled softly, “It won’t be easy but….i’m sure if we can find them quickly then there may be a good chance of helping them. I don’t want to hurt anyone for something that wasn’t their fault…” She glaced at Barnes again briefly before looking back, “…even if they weren’t the best people. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption.” When Kara was being addressed by this barnes guy, she listened, but showing him that she still wasn’t overly keen on him with her expression. As he talked, she folded her arms across her chest and nodded. The breakdown was good, and she knew before they even tackled Strange that they needed to tackle the inmates that were no loose with no clue of what was happening to them. The thought made her incredibly sad. Some had more than likely done some really bad things but that didn’t mean they deserved what this crazed lunatic had done. After she’d asked her question, she didn’t expect the blurted answer that Jim gave and it caused her to give a shy smile and duck her head down. She cleared her throat and looked back up, the smile still playing around the edges of her lips. A hotel would mean that she might not hear everything as soon as it happened and that wouldn’t be good. Staying with someone part of the investigation would probably be better. “I don’t mind if I stay with you, i’m thinking given the case it might actually be better?” She pointed out with a shrug before tilting her head to the side. “I’ll have to go and collect some things from National City if I’m going to be here for more than a day or so though…” She couldn’t be Supergirl the entire time - not when she’d need to be discreet when following leads - it meant she may need to give up her secret identity eventually as well.
Watching the exchange between Barnes and Kara, Jim knew it wouldn’t be long before she was asking for ANSWERS. One of the major downfalls in Gotham had always been, and maybe always would be, the ever changing political aspects. The crime bosses seemed to earn more respect than SUSPICION, and even the leaders who’d sworn to protect and serve were under someone’s thumb. Nothing was ever as easy as right and wrong. At least, not for everyone else. It usually felt pretty cut and dry for him, hence the reason he wasn’t anyone’s favorite around the precinct. It made him wonder if he shouldn’t go ahead and WARN her. Despite her abilities, and how much the city NEEDED her, he had a feeling she might run into some of the same issues. In fact, maybe bringing it up straightaway was a fantastic idea. Might help cover his blunder. Who the hell asks a girl ( Supergirl at that ) to stay with them three seconds after the introductions are made? He might have attempted another lame explanation had she not spoken first. His brows rose in SURPRISE, pausing several seconds too long before the mayor awkwardly cleared his throat. Shaking it off, he gave a stiff nod, a FLUSTERED glint still in his eyes, ❝ Uh - Right. Of course. You’re welcome to stay as long as this takes. Truth be told we probably won’t be there much anyway. Crime never sleeps. ❞ However, their newfound living arrangement raised a whole new question. Surely in her downtime she didn’t walk around her apartment in the suit and boots. ‘Supergirl’ wasn’t her name. So who was she when she wasn’t saving the world? Admittedly he was CURIOUS, but he also wanted her to know he would protect her privacy no matter what. This wasn’t about sating his curiosity. It was about SAVING those people and keeping Gotham safe. ❝ Bring whatever you need. It’s private, pretty out of the way. No one should bother you. ❞ He knew the mayor wouldn’t be too keen on ‘private’, he was all for a publicity stunt, but he’d fight that battle when it came.
