Jace/Simon
Note: Found in my google docs. Dates May 4 2017, 1:05 AM. Reads as follows:

TFW you find out that your new roommate is your ex-girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, who you kind of always had a thing for.

The last time Jace saw Simon was at their high school commencement in May, a full four months ago. Afterward, when Maryse was corralling her family together to get group shots with Jace and Izzy in their graduation cap and gowns, Jace kept glancing across the room to where Simon was posing for pictures with all his friends.
Jace remembers thinking this was now or never–this was his last chance to just say something to the damn boy, before he slipped away forever. But then Clary came bounding up to Simon to throw her arms around his neck. Jace watched as Simon lifted her by the waist and spun her around in glee.
Jace didn’t say anything to Simon then.
And now here he is on move-in day for his first year of college. He’s carrying his book bag and a suitcase, Alec and Izzy crowding doorway behind him burdened with all his other things, and Simon Lewis is in his dorm room hanging up a comic book poster.
He has heard the running joke about how everyone from their high school ends up going to college at Alicante University – hell, he and Izzy followed Alec here after all – but this is ridiculous.
“Jace!” Izzy hisses eventually, after Jace has a good five seconds to stare. “You can walk into your room any time now. I’m not standing here in heels carrying your bedsheets forever.”
Then she jostles Jace, bumping against his back so that he stumbles across the threshold into his room with a thud. Simon quickly turns, popping his headphones off his ears with a friendly smile spreading across his face.
Jace flusters a little as Simon turns to greet him. He thinks he hides it well, slipping into his default, unimpressed persona just in time for Simon to meet his gaze. “Hey Lewis,” he greets with a nod. He doesn’t miss how Simon’s smile quirks downward.
“Oh, uh. Hey, Jace” Simon stammers. He jumps off his bed and lands on the floor with a slight thump. Behind him, the poster he hadn’t finished pinning to the wall sagged and slid to the ground. He notices Izzy and Alec behind Jace, and nods at them in recognition.
“Fancy seeing you here,” Jace says, doing his best not to betray emotion.
Simon’s brow furrows behind his big, hipster glasses. “You didn’t know I was going to be your roommate? Didn’t you get the roommate assignments emailed to you?”
Jace probably should have paid more attention to those emails from the housing department.
“And anyway,” Simon continues without skipping a beat. God, he never shuts up. “It says my roommate is Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern. I thought your name was Lightwood.”
Jace shrugs with one shoulder. “I’m working on the name change,” is all he says about that. He pats Simon’s cheek condescendingly with one large hand as he brushes past him. He grins when senses Simon bristle in annoyance.
Maybe this won’t be so bad.
