There’s nothing wrong with being pansexual and there’s nothing wrong with being bisexual, and no matter the similarities or differences that may or may not be between them, both identities are valid and deserve love, respect, and representation.

Why you shouldn’t be afraid to date a bisexual person, pansexual person, et cetera

I’m here to tell you why you shouldn’t be afraid to date these other sexual orientations that don’t focus on one gender. This is not an attack on these people, this is a delve into what it’s like to be one of these identities. It is alright if you are one of these people, but please read what I have to say and take into account that when you say disgusting things about these identities (examples: “X identity doesn’t exist” “Oh, you finally picked a side!” “You’re straight now?” “You’re gay now?” “Just pick a side already!” “You’re just confused” and other things like that) hurt the people. For those in the gay community, this is exactly the same thing as when straight people say your orientation is wrong, disgusting, etc. and for those who are straight on this site, it’s the same as people using cishet as a derogatory term. 

If you date someone of any of these identities, remember it’s exactly the same as you falling in love with someone, although they just have a little bit more of a variety based on gender. It’s normal and okay to be worried that you are not enough, but you shouldn’t worry that you’re not as good as the opposite sex. I’m not saying you can’t feel this, but you should remind yourself that they are attracted to you. As a pansexual person, I can say that I don’t focus on gender identity at all and focus more on personality. Be happy you are with the person, try not to be scared that they will cheat on you because of their sexual orientation.

Please remember that when you say horrible things to these people, call them “less queer” and treat their identity as a joke/ignore it completely, it negatively affects them and hurts them in so many ways. You may not mean ill intent towards these people but remember that they are apart of the LGBT+ community and they have feelings, too. Do not erase their orientation.
