admiring his daughters' technical and conceptual grasp on magic and contemplating their idea's wider theoretical implications as he is passing the fuck out may be olruggio's most iconic moment honestly. magic nerd of all time

Just me talking about mostly Jujy and also Hiehart in the Leech arc because I love them
this is the funniest possible way he could have said that. I really like the contrast shirahama sets up here of letting us see how serious he actually is about protecting jujy while still having that spark of humour shine through for now, transferring hiehart from the purely comedic character he's been so far into a more dramatic serious light to carry the rest of this scene. also heart wrenched by jujy thinking it was her fault, and I think it speaks well of hiehart that even under these circumstances he takes a moment to stress that it wasn't. we see her take on a lot of responsibility before this, but it's nice to see that when it really comes down to it hiehart steps up.
this is so well observed as to how children experience the world!!! the scariest thing for jujy isn't the horrible leech that has eaten the sky, it's seeing her attachment figure be overwhelmed by the situation and not responding to her as he normally would. she's understandably freaked out before this but this is where I think she starts to get frightened.
Everything dies. You die. I die. She dies.

i feel its incredibly important to inform you all that paddington has a letterboxd account, and his review are just as great as you think theyd be
anyways, I'm still so angry over that Deadline article about Disney nuking Ncuti Gatwa's era of Doctor Who because of "woke" (not even kidding), because they received "overwhelming" feedback that the show was "too woke" for international audiences. It will never not piss me the fuck off how woke was/is literally aave for being politically aware that's been so co-opted by white establishment conservatives that this bastardised co-opted colonised concept of "woke" is now weaponised against Black people, people of colour and other marginalised people to justify casting us down and out. A literal fuckinf alien was played by a Black gay actor and old white people lost their shit and now a 60 yr old show is basically dead because some white people hated they weren't being directly pandered to. I'm never not gonna be pissed the fuck OFF
Hey, people in the comments who said I was wrong about the show being dead because I could see the writing on the wall months ago....well, now there's the official announcement. I really hope that no one ever forgets that Doctor Who was cancelled because of anti-Blackness, racism, and corporate greed.
What's great about Faith's "no such animal [as innocent people]" line is probably the show means it as her cynical take on how everyone is corrupted and there is no hope (a perfectly reasonable thing for her to believe given her circumstances, and a great setup for her "redemption") but EYE like to see it as an undercut to the btvs philosophy of "people are good monsters are evil". There are no innocent people because the categories of "innocent" and "people" are actually not as coherent as buffy believes! Which is constantly shown in the show and yet very rarely acknowledged until (sort of) s6 and then FINALLY really addressed in Buffy's speech in selfless! But then pretty quickly dropped again. doctor who cancelled and people swore up and down that chibnall destroyed the show and rtd would fix it…..i have to laugh
the fact that the same man that brought the show back from the dead has also now killed it is absolutely frying me
no, it's fine, I just... I didn't think the snugstones would be qifrey's eye color
