Daintily, her hands brushed along the gathered materials for the harvest wreath, each motion careful and deliberate. A faint furrow formed between her brows—an almost imperceptible expression of focus. it isn't his first choice in extracurricular activity by far, however, mastering the use of one's own hands shapes way to becoming the very sculptor of their finest creations. wreaths were among one of the most traditional adornments created for okhema during amphoreus' citywide celebratory times. were it the subject of remembrance, he would recall fondly a time when he created one for his dear sister, hung upon her bedroom door like an emblem of everlasting glory, the very last he saw of her before finally making his venture towards the grove, only to hastily return upon hearing his homeland was devoured by the black tide. sigh. very well.

as aglaea offers what appears to be something reminiscent of a wreath, he analyzes her work with a stern gaze just before overturning his palm to accept her creation for proper inspection.

now then, amendment. a few darker colored blossoms are added to her mixture, starry blues and deep noontide purples to accompany one another, stems pushed intricately throughout the wreath to ensure they remain in place. alongside her initial choices, it yields a bountifully colored creation. perfection. he smiles ever so faintly, returning it to her waiting hands.

In Sunday's case, of course, it was far more in the literal sense-- and the gilded impression within his mind had long since been worn away by reality's cold erosion. Though even he had to admit that some fragments remained, vestiges of fondness in the corners of his mind.

His inner world remained as testament, after all.

"'Not even real...' a fascinating concept," he mused. "Though... if we are truly not real, then how is it that we stand here, conversing with one another? I have my own consciousness, and you have yours... though, it may very well be that this world is one in which the edge between truth and lies has become blurred..."

He had questioned it himself-- what, indeed, were the boundaries between dream and reality? Were those lives within the beautiful dream truly false? What, then, was truth, and in the end did it even matter? Such questions lent themselves to endless ponderings when one was in the position that Sunday had held for so long. Indeed, even now that he had left that dreamland behind, his mind still wandered there every now and then-- even more so when faced with these dilemmas.

"Though memories may be the foundation behind our very sense of 'self', they are also especially fragile and easily tampered with," he noted. "I have had the fortune to encounter a companion of mine here, whose memories come to a stop before mine-- but can we be certain that these discrepancies are not simply a result of some kind of interference, that some are more sensitive to than others?"

Ah... if only he had his Tuning capabilities. This would be far easier to determine if that were the case.

Indeed, when not finding refuge amid the walls of the temple, he spent the greater part of his time in the archives, hoping to understand more about this world he'd found himself in.

"This world's boundaries seem to be defined in the principles of Ivurie and Ebenos-- I wonder, have you any theories on where we might fall within such a balance?"

aren't all depictions of one's homeland that of a dreamscape to some extent or another?

in his experience, most people much prefer entertaining false beliefs that incessantly tout faith in the gods and all divine deliverance their so called prophecies bring rather than looking for the truth themselves. so enamored by these followings were they to recognize the burn of shackles pinned to their ankles and wrists-shackles that anaxagoras himself would have also worn had he not defied his own world's gods and beliefs so very long ago. still, the chance to learn more about another's homeland, particularly one he has had neither the pleasure or opportunity of even so much as reading about does not pass him by. rather, he watches as paper is tucked away, lone eye narrowing with the other's question. his lips purse with immovable certainty.

❝ there are two possibilities. one, we are merely seeds planted in a garden much larger than our own capability of comprehending. or... if you are truly asking me, we may not even be real at all. don't you find it fascinating that some of us echoes either retain memories-or none at all? it is almost as if we were plucked from our own worlds at different intervals. say... even perhaps timelines themselves? ❞

Whether the god Morax or the "mortal" Zhongli, he was drawn to these sorts-- one could guarantee an interesting conversation.

Golden eyes studied the man before him, then closed, and the slightest of smiles pressed at the corner of his lips. Ah, if only he knew that the very one he was speaking to now was one who had willingly donned the fetters of duty, whose words had laid down the predictions that guided the flow of gold for thousands of years!

"Mm," he replied, lifting his cups to his lips thoughtfully. "Such things, indeed, may be a heavy burden for those who cling to them, just as much as they might provide respite. But tell me... what is it that you do believe in, then?"

it is, after all, the only prospect one has left at the end of their arduous road. blood, research, sacrifice... all of it merely a stepping stone to someday place upon the pinnacle of his greatest achievements. in that, he never asked to be glorified-merely that those who followed in his stead honored his legacy and ensured his work continued on. perhaps anaxagoras has an answer for everything should the query have concerned such views when it came to his own world.

... but this, this land of ivurie and ebenos-echoes they called them, those who stepped out beneath the radiant arms of a glorious aurora borealis in what seemed to be a set cycle. he scoffs, the crimson ouroboros inlaid upon the top of his right hand burning with an annoying reminder that his own alchemy cannot suffice here. surely, these circumstances were far from coincidence. another garden of ugly truths waiting to be weeded out.

❝ what else? myself, of course. the truth of universe is rarely what we have imagined, if at all. it does not exist to save us, it exists to enlighten us. the gods, more often than not, are merely placed to give the people something they can believe in. tell me, if you knew your very existence was indeed futile-would you worship the gods in some effort to find respite? ❞

I managed to secure a few during a trip to the market, and I have to say, they don't disappoint," he said. "Ah, perhaps this for an idea-- have you considered modifying ordinary vegetables to create spicy variants? I do wonder what that might do to their medicinal qualities."

an inquisitive look follows as a hand raises to curl just beneath his own chin. he's had run-ins by way of experimenting with crops before so it isn't the furthest thing he'd pluck for any next possible alchemic venture. he watches the other with intrigue.

❝ i can't say i've attempted the latter quite yet. i have, however, singlehandedly created the apex variant-species that yield at least ten times their natural size. while there are those who would certainly argue more is wasteful, i believe you can never have enough. better to be prepared rather than disappointed. ❞

"An-naks-a-gor-as? " he mimics softly to himself, repeating it once over to make sure he has the word correct while the... roommate continues talking. The first thing the mage immediately notices though is that, LANGUAGE BARRIER. Or better yet, the lack of one actually. While his roommate was truly the first person he's spoken too since arriving, there's a mental sigh of relief that happens when he can actually understand the other without having Mokona around. He's already suffered in one world where there was a language barrier, to imagine having to suffer in another one, while alone. He absolutely did not want that. Though, he can't tell if that being able to understand the other is really this worlds doing, or the doing of his own magic charm on his ankle. Maybe its combination of both? He's yet to decipher that, but he will soon enough. After all, they've both only just arrived.

With being able to understand him though, the next the thing mage notices rather quickly is that this man was direct and to the point when he spoke. Before this point, Fai has already traveled to many dimensions, many worlds, all with their own unique bodies and languages. All with their own unique personalities as well. And he can confidently admit to himself that he doesn't believe he's yet to run into a man like him. Maybe.. maybe not even back in Celes was someone ever daring enough to be so brazen when speaking. Especially against his former king.

And yet, the two of them haven't even been in their shared living quarters for a whole five minutes and the other man had already laid down his ground rules. This just makes the blonde tilt his head just a bit to the side, listening of course, curious even. Its like he's repeated these two rules over and over again. And yet, there's just no way Fai would be able to follow such rules. At least one of the two anyways. Though, it might vary on day, or even topic... But today he would oblige, be nice. Respect the other as he finally stands up from the couch.

"Well, my name is sort of long, so there's no need to know the whole thing. You can just call me FAI. That's what everyone else calls me." He smiles while bowing forward just a bit. Old habits of course. Always bow to greet your company. "You mentioned research a moment ago, may I ask - what kind of research do you study? Was there something in particular you were working on before arriving here?"

if he could have avoided such matters then he certainly would. however 'generous' their gifted amenities, they were quite bare bones. lacking as any inspiration to continue his personal research. while he could certainly resort to pouring his time and dedication into the observatory, he still requires his own space at the end of the day. a sigh, arms raising to fold in momentary thought before he's waving a hand and turning back towards the door. the idea of company doesn't suit him lightly either-but this is a world in which they were both unfamiliar, bountiful with the fruits of knowledge yet undiscovered. loathe as he is to admit, the other's origins do intrigue him.

beginning with that accent of his. foreign of course, however it also carries the suspicions of something anaxa highly suspects to be ancient. not a moment longer and he already sees himself halfway out the door before pausing briefly without turn.
