I know that “fwiw” means “for what it’s worth.” I know that. But every time I read it, my brain translates it to “fwom what I wemembew”
i’m not even that much of a pervert i can just find the eroticism in anything. doesn’t get me bricked up necessarily i just like to appreciate it.
polyamory is awesome you can tell your girlfriend about your crush
polyamory is terrible, your girlfriend can tease you about your crush.
Polyamory is evil, your girlfriend can tattle to your wife about something you want them to do to you together.

one of my major gripes with the way a lot of people deploy socialization theory is that they seem to think trans women think and act like a typical member of our assigned sex right up until the moment we spontaneously turn trans
like it'd be one thing if people were engaging seriously with the concept of socialization as an academic theory, but a lot of people instead just deploy the term as pretext to backfill an assumed backstory onto trans women, like "you definitely Were this way at one point, and I can See the particles of the past still clinging to you when you so boorishly ask me not to walk all over you"
I think a lot of us have the impulse to throw out socialization theory altogether because so many people who don't care to understand it misuse it as a weapon against us. I absolutely get that impulse, but it's important to realize that a transmisogynist's version of the theory is oversimplified and altered on purpose to harm us. what we need is to embrace a more expansive understanding of socialization that can actually account for trans women's differences in experiences and outcomes
Actually, no, I don't think that friendships dropping like flies in your late 20s and early 30s because no one has time for that between overwork and family obligations and marriage and kids and partners and the ritual of the time slayer is normal and ok. No I don't think deep conversations and spontaneous adventures being replaced with a tired coffee every six months is a normal part of growing up. I don't think that emotional intimacy and soul bonds disintegrating in the face of practical inconvenience is a fact of life. I think that means something is deeply deeply wrong with our society and I will never forgive it for the friends I've lost
the last item you held (phone doesn't count) just despawned are you ok with it?

If I was holding a bowl of oatmeal, does the whole thing despawn, or just the bowl?
Because if there's a splatter of oatmeal all over my bed now, I'm going to be pissed.
sorry, but you were socialized christian. I just can't trust you in a trans space
they literally taught you that trans people were subhuman and that you were better than them. I don't know if you can be trusted around other trans people
they scapegoated and abused you for showing signs of transness? uh... no? christianity is the most privileged religion there is. stop whining
gotta say I was not expecting people to go to bat for my strawman
me: "lol wouldn't it be crazy if trans communities treated ex-christian trans people who survived religious abuse the same way they treat trans women who they call 'male socialized'"
some of you, for some reason: "wait hold on that's a great idea"
lotta people on this post going "ok well male socialization is fake and gay but christian socialization is Real and we should discriminate based on it" and I just think it's interesting how badly some people want to exclude others from queer community based on background
a lot of you clearly still believe socialization is an immutably tainting force, and you wanna be able to punish people for things you imagine they'll do because of it. can you at least wait for our hypothetical traumatized ex-christian to do something worthy of the punishment you're eager to inflict? can we wait for them to express a harmful belief instead of assuming they hold them? no? we just gotta bar them entirely? ok
I actually don't believe you're normal to trans women if you believe there's such a thing as being eternally tainted by one's upbringing
i would really like it if ciswomen momentarily subjected to transmisogyny would say anything other than "i was born female" as a way to deflect. it just screams "this shouldn't happen to me, im not your main target".
try thinking for five seconds about trans women who cannot use that same deflection when they deal with the exact same shit 24/7
lady gaga was the baseline for what an ally should be. if confronted with accusation of being trans, your default response should be "okay? so what? is that such a big deal".
saying "im actually a real biological vagina having female, and you're so stupid" is not stopping transmisogyny. its in fact contributing more to it. its enforcing the divide between ciswomen and trans women. its making the world unsafe for us. and it's making it so that the next time any woman gets accused of being trans, its gonna be worse for her because of the rise in transmisogyny you are inadvertently contributing to.
I've said this before but I'll add it here too, such acts of transmisogyny against TME people are both to harm the target and to invite the target to participate in transmisogyny. In the same way that men tell other men they are acting like a woman or like a bitch to invite them to be misogynistic, it is an invitation to correct behavior or coerce transmisogyny from the target. By responding to the implications that you as a TME person actually DO belong in the bathroom or in the sport because of your TME status, you are validating and perpetuating transmisogyny, and that is the ultimate purpose of these kinds of acts.
If you're able to recognize the unequal social dynamic between transmascs and transfems that gives them privilege and power over transfems, then I know you're able to recognize that the exact same social dynamic exists between white trans people and racialized trans people.
When you refuse to accept that and try to deny it exists, you're literally doing the exact same "we're all faggots in the eyes of the state" bullshit that you see so many transmascs do in order to deny that they have male privilege. It's just "all lives matter" ideology all the way down.
Transmascs having male privilege doesn't erase the discimination they face for being trans. And white trans people having white privilege doesn't erase the discrimination we face for being trans.
Acknowledging this doesn't harm you in any way. It doesn't invalidate your experiences with discrimination or anything.
This is not just intersectional feminism 101, it's literally the intersection that led Kimberlé Crenshaw to introduce the concept of intersectional feminism in the first place! You cannot call yourself an intersectional feminist if you reject that this intersection of misogyny and racism exists and causes racialized trans people, especially racialized transfeminine people, to be diacriminated against worse than white trans people.
i started reading this book and kept tilting my head at the comparisons the author was using so i started a running list of them
this author's use of imagery is so questionable
i actually went "what the fuck" and had to stop for like 5 minutes after this one
I feel like this is important information about this post.
@pangur-and-grim somehow I have a feeling you'd like these.
