another thing on cyberworld and women i can’t help but be a bit cynical about ratchet being gender swapped instead of including literally any other female character. the insistence for shows to keep taking male characters and making them the opposite gender is part of the issue in how this franchise and fandom sees the women characters. yall will claim that the women aren’t developed enough so you just HHAAAVVEE to genderbend the men without realizing that the women are so “underdeveloped” as you say because they aren’t being given their rightful spots. ratchet doesn’t need to be genderbent. there are other female medics or scientists like lifeline nickel greenlight lancer or minerva who getting a spot in a show like cyberworld would elevate their relevance. airachnid was shown to have medical training and the show wrote her off for now. these characters will stay “underdeveloped” in your eyes because of your refusal to engage with any character who’s name you don’t automatically recognize.

if i say “im disappointed in this show for perpetuating this franchises history of misogyny” and you say “no no it’s not the show that’s misogynistic it’s the franchise at large” then we are talking about the same issue. i know comparatively cyberworld is a small show that’s a toy line first. i don’t expect it to completely uproot decades of issues. but it is a show that is actively currently being profited off of. it’s confirmed that some of the toys being made won’t appear in the show. so yes it’s fucking bleak that in 2026 the only way to get people to care about a woman is to ride off the name recognition of a man because that’s what will sell better. combine it with the way the two (2) count em two women characters have been written in the show, cyberworld is another cog in the machine and it should be addressed.

there are currently 30 male figures with optimus and megatron having 4 variants each and bee having 5. optimus primal who has not appeared in the show has a second redeco as well.

elita, who has been part of the main cast since episode 4 has one figure. there are three female figures in total with airachnid having one plus a redeco, 4 if we count ratchet. is that not. ridiculous to you. on june 3rd of this year they released a new figure for greenlight. they know they have these characters, they know they can merchandise and include them in toy lines. cyberworld is actively avoiding including women

apparently cyberworld oplita confirmed by the creator this is the worst day of my life. remember when optimus ignored and undermined elita to the point that it led to him accidentally shooting her and he doesn’t even rush to her side to help her up or apologize once he does it’s wheeljack who goes to her. or how after that episode elitas authority is continually undermined in ways that contradict what had been canonically shown to us to prop up optimus. and how elita is the only main girl in the cast of characters with only one other woman appearing for only three episodes before going away. a woman that was established as elitas friend who was immediately isolated from her so she’s back to being the lone girl in a cast full of men. how she fought so hard to go back for wheeljack and keep him in the group because he’s useful and might know things but when it comes to airachnid elita just lets her go despite making an insane effort in the episodes prior for airachnid to not be hurt and stay and emphasize that she misses her. or how they keep reusing the same box art for her while optimus and bee get 3+ different alt and bot modes. like yeah i wouldn’t be thrilled if it was canon either way bc i just kinda dgaf but the fact that she’s tokenized as the only girl and is being put in a relationship with a man after losing her one (1) female friend and having her position within the group disrespected just to make the man who she’s being shipped with seem better despite him constantly ignoring and undermining her to the point it’s caused her physical harm. you can have your m/f ship when women in this franchise aren’t treated like novelty items to benefit the male cast.
