iKON SUMMERTIME SEASON2 in BALI
A Trip to Venice II Ronan & Bobby
ronan-ia:
Ronan chuckled at the secret, but her chest still twinged with something like pity for the cupid. Even though he’d never been in love with someone, she couldn’t imagine knowing that to fall in love would strip her of her abilities. Even if they weren’t all that great to begin with…it shouldn’t have to be a choice, in her mind. But she just smiled and nodded, not wanting to disrupt their lovely day with more of such talk.
At his question, the selkie’s lip twitched and she shrugged. “Yes, I had to for many years. Growing up, we pretended to be humans every time we were in human form, so people wouldn’t grow suspicious of us. And before I came to Insolitus, I lived among them for a time…” She sighed, looking around them at all the humans going about their normal lives. “They’re fascinating creatures, though I don’t understand them very well. I didn’t assimilate as much as I’d have liked,” she admitted, gathering up their now empty food containers and utensils. “I can’t either, and I hope I never have to find out,” she replied with a small laugh, standing to throw away their trash.
They walked towards the canal, and Ronan flagged down a gondola. It pulled up to the side for them to get in, and she smiled at the man rowing. “Here, watch your step,” she said to Bobby, holding out her hand to help him. They had perfect timing, it seemed, since the sun was just setting as they started down the canal. Brilliant golds and pinks and oranges thrown in every which way as it sparkled off the water. Grinning, she pulled out her camera and snapped a picture.
“But did you like it?” Bobby paused and turned so that he could look at Ronan. “Playing human that is? I know some people talk about liking that kind of situation, but I don’t think I would. I mean I can’t anyways, but not being able to openly be me….would be depressing.” Bobby wasn’t accustomed to being sad for a long time, so the idea of being locked away from expressing himself made him feel horrible on the inside, stomach clenching at the thought. “Why didn’t you understand them?” The cupid was curious. While he had dealt with humans, he could understand them a little bit. Well from emotions that is. He understood the pain and happiness that love, lust, and friendship could bring. Once they made it to the gondola, the male smiled sheepishly. Her words of being careful were something that was taken seriously. He was extremely clumsy.
Slowly, Bobby stepped into the rocking gondola, feet unsteady. He would have loved to have helped the female out more, but honestly he probably would have pulled them both into the water. Taking a seat, he smiled at the girl, excitement thrumming through his veins. “I never thought I would be doing such a thing. It seems like one of those Hallmark moments.” The only thing missing was the romance.
A Trip to Venice II Ronan & Bobby
ronan-ia:
Had it been anyone else to make the suggestion, Ronan probably would have just laughed and brushed them off good-naturedly. But Bobby seemed so genuinely sweet and she certainly didn’t believe that he had any ulterior motives, so she was fine with this. The picture had turned out pretty well, she thought as he looked at it for a second on the camera screen. It was certainly candid, with Bobby’s mouth tilted in a content half-smile and his posture natural and relaxed. It was a good photo of him, she’d have to send him a copy later.
The selkie hummed and chuckled lightly at the mention of Bobby’s limited clothing options~ she had never really thought about the fact that his wings might restrict what he was able to wear. But he seemed to get along just fine regardless. His next words caught her off guard, however,, making her nearly drop the forkful of food that she had been holding. “You can’t fall in love with someone?” she asked, her expression incredulous. “But how can you help that?” How horrid it would be to have such a pre-determined fate, to never be able to have what you find and create for others. She wondered how many cupids had decided to give up their gifts in order to be with someone they loved….she couldn’t imagine it to be an easy decision.
His question cut through her speculation., making her stutter for a moment before answering. “Well…I suppose it’s not too different from being a human,” she answered, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “I mean, of course I spend a lot more time in the water and I can shift forms and everything, but I could also pass for a mortal if I wanted to,” she said, letting out a soft sigh. Ronan had never really thought about how lucky she was to have that privilege. “But it can be very dangerous. Many places hunt seals, so we must be careful. And if someone steals your seal fur…well without it we can’t return to the sea. It’s pretty much a death sentence for a selkie, not being able to go back home.” Shuddering at the thought, Ronan shook her head and smiled. “Well, it looks like the sun will be setting soon. Want to find a gondola?”
“Well we can fall in love it’s just the risk that is involved.” Bobby was naturally used to living as a cupid so the idea that love could interrupt his magical abilities wasn’t anything new. He had grown quite used to it. “I’ll tell you are secret though.” His smile was wide and gummy as he leaned in close. “It’s never bothered me, because I’m already bad at magic.” Not that the male was necessarily looking for someone to be with. He had been enamored before and didn’t like the obsessive qualities that seemed to happen. “Besides cupids love too strong. We are born to like that, but nowadays it comes off not so well with independent people.” It was within a cupid’s nature to be overly protective and loving and with the new generation that could scare many potential people away.
“Ah well that’s interesting.” Bobby had never been able to fit in with humans. Not when his physical form made him stand out so much. If it wasn’t the wings it was his pink toned skin color that made him look abnormal in their presence. “Have you ever pretended to be human?” The male tilted his head in curiosity, the sun slowly drifting down in the sky so that the streets were lit in reds, oranges, and pinks. It was beautiful among the cobblestone. “I couldn’t imagine what it would be like for someone to have their fur stolen.” The idea of not returning home made his stomach clench in a way he was unfamiliar with. It brought a frown to his face. While Bobby didn’t specify one area as home, the idea that he could be kept away from somewhere he wanted to return left him feeling empty and cold. “A gondola?” He seemed to perk up at her words and he found himself nodding enthusiastically.

Paint Party ll Jiwon&Ara
wixara-ia:
She didn’t smile when he apologized or shake her head in the way that told him ‘It’s fine, it was my fault too’. Simply she turned back to her canvas to look over it again as if she had forgotten what it looked like during the few seconds of interruption, secretly hoping that he didn’t think she was rude for not saying anything. Soon after she was moving around to get paint from the tubes and squeeze it out onto a slab of cardboard. Pink, Purple, Fuchsia. Ara wasn’t actually sure if there was a galaxy out there that looked quite like the one she was picturing, but that was also the beauty of art. Nothing had to exist in the real world for it to exist in the art world. Whatever her imagination could scheme was possible.
“I wouldn’t say often.” The girl mused as she grabbed a couple brushes from the jar of clean ones and walked over to her canvas. “I like to go outside more when the weather allows me to. Being in the classroom just helps me focus better when I need to get a project done. Do you have a favorite place to draw?” Truely being outside was the best thing to do when you needed to get your creative juices flowing. Sometimes just looking at things can inspire wonderful art or even just practicing by sketching something simple is good enough. Most of the time being outside just felt good for the soul even if you didn’t sketch anything.
Dipping her paintbrush into the pink, Ara started working delicately on one side of the page just trying to fill in the white spots. She would do the same with the other two colors until later she would spritz the page with water to make the colors run together better. She might have to get newspaper to lay it down because things might get a little messy.
Bobby realized that maybe the female wasn’t a talkative one when she seemed to not be interested in speaking up. Well it wasn’t the first time people had simply ignored a response back to him and while it might seem rude to some, he had come to understand that it could mean many things coming from a person. Instead of being hung up on the fact, his wings drooped down some as he made his way to an open seat. He placed his sketchpad down with care and pulled out the container of graphite pencils he kept in his desk. He had come to find inspiration, because his room had lacked it. However, it seemed like even now he might not be too productive.
His wings seemed to twitch at her voice filling the silent void, surprise decorating his face. It seemed like maybe she wasn’t the silent type completely. “Mmm well I lack the ability to stay focused, so I thought the classroom might help. Certainly my dorm is full of things I could be doing instead of the work that I should be.” While the cupid loved taking Art, he also loathed it. He didn’t like the fact that due dates put pressure on him to finish a piece. He had always thought that art was something that came with no definite time limit, but somehow classes had made that irrelevant. “I don’t have a specific place that I like to draw in, but more I get urges to draw certain things. Mostly this does happen in more social and emotion inducing locations. However, when I’m under pressure any place usually works, I just won’t appreciate the final piece as much. I don’t like rushing.” Turning his head, he smiled over at the girl, not wanting to darken the current mood. “What about you?” Picking up the pencil in front of him, he began to lightly run the tip across the paper, creating soft lines as he slowly began to draw. He never started out too heavy.

A Serious Matter || Johan&Bobby
johan-ia:
Since taking up a job at the Dorghut bakery in Vighulir, Johan had become familiar with many faces. One especially recurring one was that of her old roommate Bobby. He was in the bakery often in search of sweets, a trait that they had in common (even though Johan was more particular about just what kind of sweet it was).
This was the sort of day where the cupid was in the bakery even before Johan, who had just made the walk over after a class. She was dressed in one of her old dresses, the kind she would fret over if it was covered in flour in the course of the day.
The girl waved hello as she put on her apron and took her place at the register, ready to help Bobby satisfy his need for sweets while her boss was out running errands. “What can I get’cha?”
@jiwon-ia
Bobby had basically earned his own private seat at Dorghut bakery since he came so often. It was near the side that faced the setting sun, so that sunlight would spill in and dance across the street as he watched strangers go on with their day. Today was no different, except that he had arrived earlier than Johan for a change. It wasn’t strange for him to spend most of his free time in the presence of the store and now he was practically always chatting with the girl. It was nice, seeing as though he had switched dorms once again to his own.
The dinging of the bell of the door opening revealed the girl and Bobby smiled at her warmly, fingers waving back. Slipping from his chair, he made his way to the register. His eyes glanced across the display of pastries, slices of cake, and sweet confectionaries. “Mmm well I’m stuck between choices. It was common for him to be stuck with such a dilemma. “I’m stuck between wanting the chocolate mousse slice or the brownies. They look extra delicious and gooey today.”

A Trip to Venice II Ronan & Bobby
ronan-ia:
Ronan’s cheek flushed pink at his unabashed appreciation, her lips curling up into a somewhat bashful smile. “Well, I couldn’t agree more,” she replied, crossing her legs and pulling a plate of what looked like a sugar-covered dough pastry onto her lap. Perhaps being a cupid had something to do with how vocal Bobby was with his affection, but she had to admit that it was pretty refreshing to be around someone who was comfortable saying things like that aloud.
The selkie was a bit surprised at the suggestion, admittedly, which he seemed to notice. But she just laughed and shrugged her shoulders, pulling off a piece of the pastry with a fork. The inside was filled with a fluffy, rich chocolate mousse that clung to the flaky puff pasty. It looked absolutely delicious. “I think that sounds quite sweet,” she said, holding her hand under the forkful of food as she moved it towards his mouth. “Here, try this.” Perhaps feeding each other was usually something that couples did, but she felt comfortable enough with Bobby to be cutesy and affectionate with him. “Say cheese!” she said, smiling as she snapped a picture of them and their spread of food. Leaning back for a second as she took a break from eating, Ronan eyed Bobby’s wings with clear curiosity. “What’s it like being a cupid?” she asked, admiring the stunning way the sunlight reflected off of his pink-tinged skin.
Bobby was quite surprised that Ronan wasn’t freaking out about his suggestion. It wasn’t like they were super close before the vacation trip to Venice, but he generally warmed up to people rather easily. It was a part of his cupid charm to be rather flirty, but he also was trustworthy enough to not be as cold as other people could be. His lips split into a grin and he found himself taking the offered bite of food, the rich flavors bursting across his taste buds in sugary goodness. Swallowing he couldn’t help but be filled with mirth as the sun beamed down upon them, his shirt clinging to his back.
He was caught off guard by the clicking shutter of the camera going off, no doubt the picture would come out more candid than posed. The cupid liked that more, because it showed true personality. Scrunching his nose up, he shrugged, wings folding around him slightly. “Well I suppose there isn’t very much different between me and other people. I mean I have wings, so that definitely makes some interesting fashion choices difficult. People also confuse me with an angel and that is annoying.” Pausing, he prodded at his food in thought. “I think a lot of people think cupids have amazing talents. We can make people fall in love, create friendships, which is all good. However, if we end up liking someone romantically our gifts stop working correctly and if we decide to not pursue love, we die. It’s not so great, especially when gossip negates us as promiscuous creatures too.” Bobby felt bad talking about himself, especially in a negative light. Smiling, he decided to switch the subject. “What about you? What’s it like being a-uh selkie?”
Altered Paths || Johan & Bobby
johan-ia:
“Nope, just…incantations, I guess?” Johan was still getting used to everything, but nobody had yet outright asked her why she was at the school. It wasn’t exactly comfortable to admit. “Why am I here? Nowhere else to go, I guess. This is where my parents told me to come in case they died and, well…. Anyway it’s safer here.” She wasn’t really sure that was entirely true, since there were as many Darkspawn up and down the halls as there were Children of the Light, and quite a few of them ill-tempered. Still, she wasn’t lying when she said there really wasn’t anywhere else for her to go.
“Gotta learn how to defend myself against baddies? I dunno, I apparently come from a family of exorcists that have had some kinda connection or other to this school.” The tiny girl shrugged off the topic and readily picked up the next. “Sweets ain’t my thing, but chocolate is. I’ll take anything if it comes in chocolate.” The words left her mouth before she could think better of it, as she wasn’t used to admitting to her love of chocolate. But Johan figured it was okay to admit since her roommate had already admitted almost the same thing.
Her nose wrinkled at the thought of loud obnoxious rap music. She couldn’t admit to being much of a fan of that. “You can file me under ‘that annoying stuff that makes you wanna dance.’” She added with a grin. Another of her secret loves, annoyingly bright pop music. “I kinda just go to the church whenever I feel overwhelmed or bored or anything. I pray as many times a day as I need, so more than once, yeah.” A scoff. “It’s funny, I haven’t anyone very religious since I got here either. Seems I’m one of the only ones for now.” Mostly people were just curious about her habits, but the girl had still not met any other exorcists.
Bobby found himself losing his voice, ice seeming to form along his skin. Did that mean her parents were dead? So now she was here because of that reason? He found himself finding it difficult to swallow, embarrassed that he had asked such a personal question, but also wanting to know if she really was alone. It was a strange situation to be in and one the cupid had never really found himself to be in before. Should he ask? Should he console her if it was true? He didn’t want Johan to feel like he pitied her thought. He opted for keeping his mouth shut, even if it was hard and focused on other areas. “Well it is safe, for the most part.”
It probably wasn’t helpful and he found himself wincing inwardly at his words. “Oh really? Well that’s interesting. I don’t know much about the school, other than the reason it was built.” Sitting up more in his slumped over position on the bed, he found himself contemplating her words. “Well I almost would say you are missing out, but since you like anything in chocolate form, most things have a version that’s purely chocolate.” Desserts always had an overly chocolate version, destined to make stomachs hurt.
“Ah, so you like the cutesy stuff. I’ll remember that.” It really didn’t go well in his mind when he had been awakened by a weapon wielding her. “So your religion is sort of your outlet for your frustrations or when you feel overwhelmed? That’s makes sense. Everyone has to have something that helps them destress, just some are more beneficial.” Some people made very bad decisions in finding help in drugs or alcohol.
Chlorine {Jiwon&Yeomra}
ra-ia:
Ra’s previous host had been pretty much a mermaid in a human body, Bobby had no chance to compare to that, not the cupid’s fault. Even if Ra, right now, couldn’t really muster the will to think any of those thoughts. Instead he was just incredibly…. irked. “Maybe you should get less trusting real fast.” He answered as they said on the edge and snorted when the other coughed up a feather. “For fucks sake…” He mumbled and couldn’t help but smile a little. “Maybe you should just not swim, ever, like stay away from anything that is more water than a bath tub.” He suggested.
“Excuse you?” Ra answered and stared at the cupid’s odd request. “How would you pay me? And what would you pay me…” He leaned in with a shark-like smirk “Would you pay me in sex, cupid?” It was a joke, sort of…
He leaned back again “Anyhow I am not a teacher, you should get a member of staff to do it, or as I said, stay away from the water forever.” He side-eyed the other however, he looked so sad and helpless and Ra sighed deeply. “Do you really want to learn how to swim?”
Bobby found himself shrugging, beads of water sticking to his skin as he slowly began to dry from his spill into the pool. “Well not learning how to swim defeats the purpose that I want to learn. It’s a goal I’ve had in mind for a long time and well don’t you have goals you want to accomplish?” It meant a lot to him to get over his fear, because maybe if he could do that with water, he could better himself in other areas that he was also lacking in.
His fingers uncurled from around the edge of Ra’s shorts, mouth parted in question as his words sunk in. Payment in sexual favors wasn’t something had done himself, but it was an option. Not one he necessarily wanted to indulge in, but he might be willing depending. The cupid was pretty desperate. His wings twitched and he found himself scrunching his nose at the thought. “Well I wasn’t expecting that to be used for payment, but if that’s what it really takes…” he let his words die off from his lips, eyes searching the other male’s face for any hints of a joke.
He was really bad at reading someone’s facial emotions though. “But, you see a teacher wouldn’t want to, because they only care about grades. I’m too annoying and a waste of time for them.” The cupid was back to being desperate, his voice laced with it. Nodding fervently, his hand once again landed on the male’s thigh. “I promise, I’ll try really hard and listen to what you say. I know I can be a pest, but not usually as much when I really want to learn something.”
❝Unlikely Destiny❞ Jiwon & Junmyeon
junmyeon-ia:
“Are all cupids Asian?” Junmyeon asked, while he knew they weren’t, but if Bobby said they were he would just let him live that lie. His eyes grew more serious for a moment. “Some things are better left in the past rather than to be found out in the moment. As I said, I like the history of the worlds and cultures but not my own nor am I especially interested in personal histories. When you look at a culture you get the sum of all that have lived with some examples to give it color. It is more useful than to… just go into a singular experience.”
He smiled “Those that need guidance from me usually find me in the end without me having to overcome anything. I like calm and quiet and small quantities of people I enjoy, not the big groups that gather in the academy.” He shuddered. “Chess is considered a sport as well in some groups.” the man jested, hoping the cupid wouldn’t take it badly but as it was intended to be: a joke.
Phone numbers? Junmyeon nodded as he retrieved a piece of parchment (actual parchment, not paper, Jun didn’t do anything half-assed) and retrieved a feather from his pocket, writing down his number with what seemed to be ink magically flowing from the tip. “Here you go, don’t call me directly after sunrise, that is a hard time for me, any time later should be fine.” He smiled as he handed the cupid the paper. “Don’t go walking into people’s food again, okay?”
“…Well no.” Jiwon wasn’t the smartest person and he found himself pouting slightly. He felt like he had done something wrong, but didn’t quite no how to fix it. It was ignorance or mere stupidity on his part, but then again there was no reason to be too upset. He didn’t like to be stressed out, instead opting to let things go when he had no control. “Well uh that sounds like you are really dead set on what you like. I just think I would personally like to know. You can continue to be….you and study all that world history stuff?”
The cupid felt his face drop. Junmyeon had explained disliking everything he was. He was loud, fidgety, a klutz and not to mention always seeming to be on some form of sugar high. Yet, here he was talking to him. Maybe, he was doing it out of kindness. “Chess is a something that needs to be burned. I can never remember what the horse does and I always lose.” He really hated the game and the sight of any of the pieces could make his stomach ache.
When the piece of parchment was pulled out, Bobby looked at it for a long time, not quite understanding that people still carried that around. Junmyeon was strange. Not only that, but a feather magically appeared and began to write, making the male sit up more in his chair to try and find out the magic behind it. However, before he could even ask, the paper was being pressed his way and the words were leaving the other’s mouth. He just nodded, a smile on his lips. “Only if it’s you and I’m trying to make up another reason to spend time to make up for it right?” Raising his hand, he waved softly, the other hand slipping the parchment paper into a safe pocket. “Have a safe flight?”
