Elizabeth concept art for BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea
I was the first artist to work on Bioshock Infinite. We began with a dark, European Art Nouveau style. Eventually the direction grew and moved away from that, but the the exploration yielded important lessons that went on to inform the aesthetic of the final game
As Lead Concept Artist, I defined and communicated the Creative Director's vision for the world of Bioshock Infinite to a team of concept artists and freelance partners. Together we created the blueprint for what IGN called "A stunning original world of retro-sci-fi technology and gorgeous scenery."
As Lead Concept Artist part of my responsibility included all 2D assets used in game. This encompassed all signage and propaganda in Bioshock Infinite, over 600 pieces of art. This is only a fraction of the work.
I art directed and created the visual style for Industrial Revolution, the acclaimed prequel to Bioshock Infinite. The look was inspired by vintage patent forms and turn of the century editorial cartoons.
The game was developed by Lazy8 studio alongside User Experience Designer Joshua Davis.
From 2008 through 2009, I worked primarily as the sole storyboard artist on Bioshock Infinite, providing storyboards for our announcement trailer that won the Best of Show award at E3. I worked closely with Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson on crafting 1st person shots not seen before. The final announcement trailer was done by the talented folks at Blur Studios.
I don't stop drawing when I leave work. My blog, Random Bits, has been my artistic home on the internet since 2005. Part testing ground part personal art diary. When ever I have an idea I just can't get out of my head, you'll find it at Random Bits.
