“I don’t want our significant others to get into a tussle.”
“Nah? Could be a laugh.”
musicalilyevans:
“Say something.”
“I’m going to be a -- ”
musicalilyevans:
Lily let her hands be guided away and put up no resistance to his closing around one of them; the anger she’d felt only seconds before seeped out of her, as though the mere touch of him alone had sucked out the poison. She, too, kept her eyes on their interlocked hands. “I’m pregnant,” she repeated.
trapezingtonks:
“I’ll track her down for you and let her know. If I get injured delivering the news though, I’ll have to send a letter to my parents and make sure you don’t get in.”
“Nah, y’d not get the chance.”
musicalilyevans:
Lily lifted her hands to her face, pressing herself into them; an effort to shut out the noise of all the thoughts that were crowding her mind, making it hard to think rationally. “This,” she said slowly through the hands she kept over her face, “this is what you want to talk about. The effectiveness of birth control. Does it really matter at this point? We had sex and now I’m pregnant. That’s where we’re at.”
She was right -- he was fixating on the precise wrong piece of information. Still, the how seemed remarkably less heavy than the what, and James Potter wasn’t certain he was fit to carry the weight. Cautiously -- and more out of instinct than anything else -- the boy reached for Lily’s hands, drawing them from her face. He kept one within both of his and watched her shaking fingers to steady his darting eyes. “You’re pregnant.” It was an acknowledgement, at least, and all he could muster for the present. Baby steps.
trapezingtonks:
“Find the circus, mate. Live your dream. Something like that.”
“Right. ‘Ll be off then, yeah? Let me missus know, will y’?”
musicalilyevans:
“Sure as hell sounded like it.”
“I just thought we -- I mean, it’s not the first time we’ve -- ”
trapezingtonks:
“That doesn’t really surprise me. I guess neither am I. Well, I know I am, but mostly I just know that once I want something I should go and get it.”
“So you’re saying I should go ‘n find the circus.”
musicalilyevans:
She’d scooted away from him in a flash, hand dropping his as though it had suddenly burned hard in her hand. “Oh, it’s my fault,” she laughed bitterly. “Fuck you.”
“That’s not what I said, Evans.”
musicalilyevans:
Lily sat for a few moments stunned, before her eyes narrowed dangerously. “Don’t I what?” she hissed.
“Take something.”
trapezingtonks:
“A month or so? Around then. They’re expanding to Scotland this year.”
“‘M not exactly the patient sort.”
trapezingtonks:
“Well, it travels you see. I’ll have to let you know when it comes closer to London.”
“When’s about’ll that be?”
musicalilyevans:
“James…”
“Don’t you -- aren’t we -- ?”
trapezingtonks:
“You have to be careful though, some tend to exploit animals, but the animals at my parents Circus are treated like their kids.”
“How do I get there, then?”
musicalilyevans:
“I don’t -- understand.”
trapezingtonks:
“You should go sometime, to the Circus I mean.”
trapezingtonks:
“Yeah? Sometimes I think people think it’s a bit insane. It is insane.”
“S’insane, yeah. Still brilliant but. Reckon they go hand in hand.”
