“now that would be hilarious, and much more you.” it did not pass her how touchy he was being, she did notice the way his hands stayed on her waist and his hot whispers in her ear. had she been sober she might have shooed him away, slapped his hands off her and took a few steps back, but with the alcohol flowing through her system she was not opposed to it. “so that’s where the plan falls apart. what are we to do?”

when it came to getting back at someone or pulling what he likes to refer as a ‘ innocent little prank ‘ asher tends to struggle with knowing where to draw the line. with how much is too much. even after the numerous times he’d paid the price for such recklessness, he still had no idea when to stop. perhaps this was one of those times but there was no turning back now. the idea was in his head and he was going to do it with or without a accomplice. ❝ we steal his car and park it somewhere off campus. make him shit his pants. ❞ he all but whispers into the smaller female’s ear, appreciative of the little height she did have. at six foot three bending down could prove to be a nuisance.

there were many similarities and differences between joanna and asher, but one of their differences was impulsivity and recklessness. joanna is critical and analytical, versus asher who gets an idea and doesn’t care the risk that could come from it. when working together things usually turned out for the best, with his wild ideas and her attention to detail they could make a killer duo. “you know, i expected more from you, but i do like the idea as long as we don’t get caught for it. where is the car?” she questioned, only to see if it would be in the prime areas of the party or where the lesser cars are.

“well you can watch me from a distance, no talking or touching involved.” she knew it wouldn’t suddenly inspire the girl to leave, but it never hurt to try. “it seems as if you’ve put a lot of thought into me and my ‘loser life’, do i tend to be in your thoughts or am i just lucky this time?” she teased, not sure how frankie would react. “if this is your attempt at getting me to fight you, you’ll have to do a lot more than that.”

Despite her accusatory tone, Teddy still let out a loud laugh, as if he laughed any other way, immediately shaking his head. “No, obviously I don’t. But you won’t be affected if you’re not superstitious. Isn’t that how it works? I’m not tryna get rid of my drinking buddy, promise.”

she rolled her eyes, letting out a small chuckle mix with teddy’s laughter, preparing her response. “have you ever seen any horror movie, it’s always the not superstitious one that bites the dust first. they laugh at everybody, tell them it’s all bullshit, then they’re the one that gets brutally murdered.”

grinning down at joanna with a intoxicated grin, his eyes flicker up, unfocused gaze appearing to study the flurry of movement taking place around them. students stumbled around, each one in their own personal state of disarray. if he had been a bit more sober perhaps it would have been entertaining. ❝ wanna bring that good time of yours to a great time? there’s this guy who has been pissing me off in biology class and lets just say i may have a idea to get back at him. ❞ his grin turns mischievous as hazel hues return to one of his closest friends, voice lowering a octave.

joanna herself was a tall girl, she towered over most especially when in heels, and tended to be the same height as most men she had met. asher, on the other hand, was pretty much a giant. she didn’t know the specifics of his height, only that he was one of the few people she actually had to look up to when she talked. “perhaps, i’ll have to hear your idea first to see if i want to go along with it.” trouble was always fun, fucking with people was fun, but if it was immature or had too great a risk of her getting caught then she wouldn’t participate. asher seemed to be very set on this idea, mischievous smile and eyes looking down upon her making her feel both nervous and excited.

bodies blur in front of him, melting into one another as the brunet accepts a drink from a random person on his right. between the cocaine, ecstasy, and copious amounts of liquor, asher was fucked. catching sight of a familiar female in his peripheral he bids a quick farewell. unsteady feet lead him to joanna, arms sliding around her waist from behind. bending down, lips ghost over her ear. ❝ having a good time? ❞

it was late into the night, the term darty no longer working for the ranger as the moon was out. joanna was borderline shitfaced, keeping her cool demeanor though only slightly more flirty and nice, and overall tripping over herself. her eyes were red from some weed that had been passed around earlier, and she continued her usual action at parties; standing by the wall and watching everyone. feeling warmth spread around her waist from the hands of another, before she could turn around and see who it was she felt the heat of breath as they whispered in her ear. turning around to her tall friend, giving him a small smile as he was one of the few people she was comfortable with, she responded. “well i’m enjoying myself, so i suppose you could say i’m having a good time.”

Frankie just laughed a little. She was provoking the girl, and she knew it. “Or what? You’ll spit on me, you boring old woman?” She said, her tone snarky. She shoved the girl, gently, but just enough to provoke her even more. “Yeah, thank fucking god.”

joanna looked the girl in her eyes, only slight annoyance flashing in her emotionless eyes. “are you intentionally attempting to start a fight with me?” she asked, straightforward and blunt with her words to frankie. “you obviously do not like me as a person nor my company, so why are you lingering around me?”

As she spoke Teddy pulled his own cigs out of his jean pockets, placing one in his mouth and shrugging. “I do, you can keep the lighter, it made me nervous.” And like that, out of the same pocket he pulled an identical lighter, this time in the shade blue. “I know they’re usually only bad because of the 27 club or whatever but I’ve heard bad shit can happen with white lighters whenever. I’m not ready to die yet.”

taking a puff of the cigarette and letting the smoke flow out of her mouth she relaxed, her posture slightly worse with it. “so you’re telling me that you believe the superstition that it can kill you, and you’re going to willingly give it to me? do you want me to die?” she questioned his intentions, unsure whether she was joking or not.

It’s a party, try to liven up. joanna watched as the girl turned to dramatics and rolled her eyes, and joanna in her own mind rolled her eyes back at lana. “some find farts funny, so i don’t think i can be the ‘personification of a fart’.” she knew her flaws, that to most she wasn’t funny or was an overall buzzkill, but she felt no need to change that. “then don’t try, i never asked you to.”

Caleb flicked ash from his cigarette unnecessarily, causing the cherry to fall from the edge to its demise. A soft sigh left his lips as he dug through his back pocket in order to find his zippo, flicking it open and lighting the edge once more. Laughter escaped at Joanna’s question and he nodded, handing over the metal torch. “You’re in luck,” he said. “I oh-so-gracefully just killed my own cigarette.”

joanna hadn’t been paying attention to what the man next to her was doing, and if she cared for others opinions she would feel quite idiotic at the moment, but the opinion of this stranger meant absolutely nothing to her as she awaited the light. “thanks.” she took it from him and lit her own cigarette, passing it back once she was done.

Teddy was about to make his way to the kitchen to refill his solo cup after he’d excused himself from the conversation he’d been partaking in, even though he wasn’t really paying attention. However, a familiar voice caused him to pause in his tracks and he grinned when he glanced over his shoulder at Joanna, “Sure do.” He said, reaching into his back pocket and grabbing his lighter. “It’s a white one, though. You’re not superstitious are you?”

with alcohol in her system it was the perfect time for her and teddy to talk, the two became such great friends when they were far too drunk to know what they were doing, and while she wasn’t at that level yet she still felt some implication to be kind to him. “thanks.” she set the cigarette in her mouth awaiting the flame. “no, i don’t believe in that shit.” she was not a superstitious person whatsoever, she stepped on cracks and walked under ladders, and nothing bad had happened yet.

joanna grimaced as the girl touched her face, taking a step away from her and wiping her cheek like she did her arm. “stop touching me.” she doubted the girl would listen, but she could try. the girl seemingly had something out for her, a desire to ruin her day and bother her to no end, joanna was tired of it. “then it’s a good thing you aren’t me.”

joanna had been to every darty since she got there, and she was always the same at them, sticking to the wall with a drink in her hand, or smoking weed in a circle but never talking. she enjoyed parties, even if she never actually talked to anyone or participated in the idiotic party games, she enjoyed getting drunk and watching others. it gave her inspiration for writing or art, all the while making fun of them for what she considered to be beyond idiotic. it was the same here, she had a drink in a red solo cup and a cigarette in the other hand as she people watched. looking for a match to light up the cigarette she realized she had forgotten it, cursing herself before turning to the person closer to her. “you got a light?”

Poking her hard in the shoulder, Frankie grinned devilishly at a her. “Whaddup, buttercup? You don’t look like you’re having any fun, darling. Why are you so god damn boring all the time? You’re like, a wet blanket. You always look like someone just took a shit in your shoes.”

joanna had her red solo cup in her hand filled with vodka and lemonade, and she stood to the side as she watched others pathetic attempts to ‘get lit’. it was a wonder why she came to these parties, she rarely socialized, but she was always in attendance. the few people she would talk to hadn’t seemed to get there yet, but her main annoyance had and made her way to her. joanna turned to frankie with irritation glowing in her eyes, and she wiped the shoulder frankie touched so as to get her germs off her. “i suppose it’s just who i am.” her monotonous voice responded.
