“I really don’t feel well.”
“Why, what’s wrong?”
“You aren’t? Oh, I could eat a horse right now, honestly. I…yes. She’s my best friend. It’s not even that we’re low on food or anything, I just…wanted to give her a bit extra last night.”
“Nope, I never have been. I find it helps with the hunger if I train my body only to be used to a certain amount at a certain time too. Well, good luck finding one of them” She replied with a grin before adding, “Aw, that’s sweet. Keep hold of her, they’re hard to find nowadays.”
“I just need some. I won’t take everything you have. I promise.”
“Hey, it’s fine honestly. I’m not a big eater. So, this girl you’re giving your food to - she someone important?”
“two of those i can get you,” her voice began to peter off into a mumble as she sifted through her bag, “a kit kat might be harder to get my hands on.”
“Oh man, the kit kat was the deal breaker.” She joked with a small smile.
“There was this bad man and a bad thing. I thought he would do something if I didn’t do what he said, and he told me to kill the bad thing. I did it, but I didn’t like it. Mommy says killing is bad. So does that make me bad now?”
"No, no of course not sweetheart. The only bad person is that man, okay? He shouldn't have made you do that." Jodie explained horrified by what the girl had told her. “Did that mean man give you his name?”
Casey sighed, “It’s a vital tool to survival.” He told her as he leaned back against the makeshift table of the shooting range he created, “What if someone got bitten and they asked you to end them? What would you use? A shovel?” He asked, quirking his brow.
"What, no. No, no, I couldn't. I-I couldn't do that. Take a human life? No, that's just against everything I believe in." She stammered shocked and wide eyed. Jodie backed away from the gun almost instinctively as if to back up her point, she'd always worked with science to help save people so how could she so even think about considering to go against that.
“I’ve found myself lacking social skills recently. I really must work on that.”
“You’re not the only one, I’m frequently told that I’m too antisocial.”
“I’m sad,” Kira admitted, wrapping her arms Jodie’s neck as she was lifted up. “Can I talk about something?”
“Oh no, we don’t want that. What’s up?” She asked looking at the smaller girl with a frown. “Of course you can, I’m here whenever you want to talk.”

“Jodie, Jodie!” Kira ran, excited out the door to find her. She wanted to ask a lot of the adults she trusted, just in case there were different answers.
“Hey boo, how’s my little monkey?” Jodie asked grinning as she bent down to pick her up.
“I know I shouldn’t ask, but do you have anything to eat? I gave my helping last night to Grace and haven’t eaten since lunch yesterday.”
“Yeah, of course. Help yourself, I wasn’t really that hungry anyway.”
aster responded with an amused smirk; her small body leaned against the tree as she watched. “are you sure you don’t want any help?” she questioned, a teasing lilt in her voice. “or like, a break, a kit kat… i don’t know.”
Jodie looked over as she heard the female’s voice and sighed running a hand through her hair, “how about all three?”
“Then you better learn.” She positioned the woman again, making sure her arms were in the right spot. “Again.”
“I’m honestly not a fan of guns.” She mumbled, raising her arms into the right position again. “Won’t this attract the walkers?”
“Fuck, mom is gonna kill me!” Marisol whispered frantically to herself, turning around in circles until her sight came upon another figure. “H-Hey, you! Yeah, you! Have you seen a little boy, about six with brown curly hair? Please, please, please tell me you have!”
"Hey, hey calm down okay?" Jodie placed her hands on the young girls shoulders to keep her still so she could try and understand her. "Now say that again but slowly?"

"Are we really doing this?"
"Are you doing this to upset me?"
"Friends don't look at each other like that."
"Give me a chance."
"I am not doing that."
"I can prove you wrong."
"I can show you the world."
"I did a bad thing."
"I don't want to love you, but I do."
"I missed you."
"I regret last night."
"I think we can pull through."
"I think you need to get in my bed. Now."
"I thought you were gone forever."
"I want you naked. Now."
"I'm a bad person."
"I'm breaking up with you."
"I'm not who you think I am."
"I'm pregnant."
"If you and I were the only two people alive on the planet, I still wouldn't have sex you."
"Marry me?"
"Please, don't do this."
"Stop yelling at me."
"That outfit would look better on my bedroom floor."
"There is no one I hate more than you."
"This is not fair."
"This is not the time nor place."
"We are not getting a pet."
"We can't do this anymore."
"What are you doing?"
"Who do you think you are?"
"Why are you doing this to me?"
"Why aren't you answering my calls?"
"You shouldn't have done that."
"You'll regret this."
"You're being inappropriate."
"You're the one person I actually trust."
“Do you wanna die?”
Jodie looked at the woman shocked by her bluntness, "Not particularly, no."
“I still don’t understand why I have to learn how to use this thing.” Jodie stated placing the gun down after attempting to hit the glass bottles opposite her.

“I saved some of the files that we were working on,” Ben explained. “Not sure what good it will do now. Not like we were that close to a cure even before the world fell to pieces. I just wish we would have had more time. I know we would have sorted it out.”
Jodie looked down at the floor not having the heart to meet the male’s gaze. Clearing her throat, she tried to get his attention. “Erm, I... erm, well ... you see... I’ve, erm, kinda given up with science. I-I don’t really like to talk about it anymore. So you could probably keep the files for yourself and find someone to go through it with you.” She tried to explain.
