Creating tea bags to put on to my wedding dress: i created tea bags using wax and added my own images of the sea and sand inside of them and ironed then back together again. Using inspiration from Jennifer Collier

Dying the dress: once the dress was complete and stitched together, i mixed a range of inks including brown, blacks, reds, and orange which created a dirty effect. Looking back at my experiments in my sketchbook, i used salt, alcohol and bleach to manipulate the ink. Using the style of Bridie Gibbs and Anya Gallaccio i made it so it was more gradual.

I stitched the top together, and attached it to the bottom of the skirt, next i need to attach a zip so that it is all sealed together

Before i stitched the top half together, i wanted to look at other options of making the top, i looked at using lace, and gathered parts of it to create the sea foam effect of the waves and temporally pinned the top together.

Starting the Wedding Dress: Once i chose the pattern for the wedding dress style i wanted to choose, i read the instructions from the patterns and cut out the pieces necessary in order to make the dress. I pinned the tissue on to the fabric and cut around the edge. After all the pieces were cut out i pinned them all together to ensure they were all correct. Then using the sewing machine, i used straight stitch to put all the pieces together.

Looking at Wedding Dress Patterns: i went to a shop in Reading called Fabric Land and looked at a range of Wedding Dress Patterns. I looked at a range of styles and how each dress was put together. After i chose a pattern i looked at a range of patterns and chose a fabric which i tested it around my friend who came with me to see how it would hang on someone as i wanted it to drape down easily and nicely.

Porcelain Experiment: i created a large amount of porcelain looking at Lisa Stevens work. I created patterns and added holes so that i could hang it off of my wedding dress. I really like how they came out however i would of liked to hand glazed them.

Initial Final Idea:

After looking at my primary research and Pinterest for inspiration, i have decided to look closely in to wedding dresses as i would like to use some of my experiments on the train of the dress almost like a wall decoration

The Natural History museum: i went to the Natural History Museum to gain more Primary research for my project Viewpoints, Angles & Perspectives. I found a range of corals and shells which i felt relate to my idea of sea and sand. I really like the textures of these and want to experiment with puffy paint and fabric to recreate these incredible things 🐚

Creating the ripples of the sand in a cup. When i was creating backgrounds for my sketchbook i used a tea bag, ink and water which has made the water create this unique pattern.

Looking back at my primary images of the tide and sea foam to gain more inspiration. I wanted to see the different textures i could create using minimal materials and techniques

Recording: quick sketches and stitching inspired by the sea. I looked closely into the shells and rocks of the sea as well as abstract landscapes while experimenting with a different media such as biro and hair spray.

Felting: once the felt had dried i stitched on to it in the style of Helen Suzanne's work and of the sand patterns. I used a sewing machine while adding scrap pieces of fabric to add dimension to the piece.
