"Don’t be mad if I speak to you familiarly
I speak familiarly to everyone I love Even if I’ve only seen them once I speak familiarly to everyone in love Even if I don’t know them.”
Jacques Prévert, Poet.
Interactive, digital, and marketing agency R/GA — who opened up an office in Portland last year — released an app this week called Sited.
With Sited you can build a collection of design references in real time using your smartphone — kind of like Pinterest on-the-go. The extra-cool thing, though, is that Sited uses location data to mark the exact place where you document a piece of work. It is both a personal inspiration reference tool and a way to contribute to a larger, city-wide archive of iconic architecture, fashion, typography, graphic design, furniture, and more. We dig it.
Now in the App store, free.
We can’t wait to see what you find.
Normally I’m unable to share the talks that I give. Whether it’s due to legal reasons or simply not having adequate equipment available, it never seems to happen. I’m glad to announce an end to that! (At least for now…) The fine folks at WMC Fest have released the videos of all the speakers from this past year’s event.
I rarely want to rehash things or tread over common ground and this time wasn’t any different. This talk is more casual filled with personal stories from my life and some jokes along the way to help give a better idea of what the world is like from my perspective. To me, it seems like a better way to express my life as a designer better than any portfolio overview. We all have our niches in this world, it’s more important to share how you carved your’s out as opposed to describing what it looks like.

My favorite.
1. Brandon Text by HVD Fonts.
Brandon Text is the companion of the famous Brandon Grotesque type family. It has a higher x-height than the Grotesque version and is optimized for long texts, small sizes and screens. This sans serif type family of six weights plus matching italics was designed by Hannes von Döhren in 2012. Influenced by the geometric-style sans serif faces that were popular during the 1920s and 30s, the fonts are based on geometric forms that have been optically corrected for better legibility. Brandon Text has a functional look with a warm touch and works perfectly together with Brandon Grotesque. It is manually hinted and optimized for screens, so it will be a good choice for Websites, eBooks or Apps.
