Camille turned her head to see Joey standing a little away from her in the coffee shop line, a small chuckle leaving her lips. “Joey!” She called out, lifting her hand up to wave in her direction, waving her over to come stand in line next to her. “Sorry, I’ve been waiting for her.” She told the person behind her, knowing it was a flat out lie.
⁂
Joey was exhausted, she hadn’t been sleeping well the past few nights, and while she was sure pumping herself full of caffeine wasn’t the way to fix that, she was still waiting in line. When she heard her name she looked up, smiling as she saw Camille. She mumbled a few apologies as she passed the frustrated people in front of her. “Hey, thanks for saving me a spot.” She told her, just to really sell home the lie that the other had been waiting for her.

♔
It was no surprise that Joey was already ready when it came to their ‘break-up’. She could be a mess at home and in her personal life, but her social media was a whole other story. He truly admired her for being an extraordinary and exemplary with her job.
Paused still in his cleaning, Chris licked his lips, thinking of how soon the break-up would appear to the world. Nonetheless, it was finally time to let go. Glancing to the laptop, he quickly scanned the write up she had, before nodding in agreement to what was stated, with nothing amiss. ❝Just e-mail me the post, then. I’ll follow after your lead.❞ The male quipped, looking to her now.
Admittedly, he knew this wasn’t going to be easy for her, seeing as she had just broken up with Xander. ❝I’m sorry this is happening on such a bad time…❞ Every part of him wanted to prolong the break-up for her, but at the end of the day, it was Gabriel whose feelings were being hurt with every passing day that he and Jo paraded each other around as if they were the ones in love.❝…but I have to do this for him.❞
⁂
Joey pulled her laptop back into her lap, quickly saving the document and attaching it to an email, sending it off within a matter of seconds. While she knew this meant she really was going to be alone now, she also knew this was for the best. It had to be.
The brunette shook her head slightly. “Chris- It’s fine.” It was like he’d suddenly forgotten that she’d been the one to say that they needed to do this. “He deserves all of your love and attention, not me.” Though what she was really scared of, was that as soon as this was all over, she’d lose Chris. That he would replace her with a better friend, someone who didn’t ask so much of him.
“Just- Please don’t stop talking to me... And don’t replace me with another friend, because I can’t handle that.”

Marcus couldn’t help but allow the chuckle to escape his throat to her words, finding it kind of hilarious that he was hiding from both Royals territory and the police. His life was seriously fucked right now. “I’m hiding and angry as fucking hell,” he said, not even glancing over in her direction yet. “I’m drinkin’ whiskey. You want a glass?” He asked, finally turning his head to look at her. The pain, the hurt, the sadness was still evident in his eyes, though anger controlled right now.
⁂
Joey nodded as he told her that he was angry, she knew exactly why, and honestly she wasn’t too pleased with the situation either. As she slid into the seat next to him she looked down at the glass in his hand. “Yeah, I’ll take a glass.” The woman nodded, when he turned to look at her she could see all the pain that was held in his face. “I’m uh- I’m sorry Xander did that... He’s an idiot.” An idiot who she still loved but she just had to deal with that on her own.
raycvans:
“Done,” He agreed, though he was wondering if he should really put his face out there. Maybe he should wear a disguise or something. After-all being associated with this bar in particular meant something else, and he was sure people knew that. What if Ferah’s dad saw it? Not that he even knew who Ray was. “I look best with my side profile, so you should probably catch that side.”
⁂
“How about you let the person whose entire life is photos and angles decide which side is your best?” Joey teased him slightly, she had spent years perfecting her angles so she knew how to quickly discern which side was someones best, and how to angle the shot in the most flattering way. “Just play your game, and I’ll do what I do best, okay?”
patrickxfischer:

Patrick glanced around the bar, nodding his head before stopping. “Wait… Almost?” He questioned as he turned his head to look over at the woman next to him. “Hey… If you want to show off your bartending skills… You’re more than welcome too but I did just give my last bartending position to Gabriel… So, I couldn’t hire you.”
⁂
“Yeah, almost.” Joey laughed, though she was mainly teasing the man. “Just need to give some of the staff a makeover and then you’ll be ready.” The brunette nudged him lightly, when he mentioned that he’d hired Gabe she groaned, rolling her eyes slightly. “Another dude, really? Gabe can’t even do anything right now, and he’s still getting everything.” She huffed slightly.
eleanor--blackwood:
“I feel like we keep running into each other” Eleanor replied as soon as she glanced over to see the same young woman she kept running into. The coffee shop was kind of crowded, but Eleanor was good when it came to faces. She had to say though when it came to people in the city, she found running into her more pleasant then a few other options. At the very least the other woman seemed nice. every time they crossed paths. “ I’m starting to have my doubts about how busy this city actually is”
@joeyconnor
⁂
Joey wasn’t fully focused on what she was doing, more just idly waiting until her name was called so she could grab her order and go work on editing her next video. When she realized someone was talking to her she smiled, recognizing Eleanor almost instantly. “Well at least it’s not a bar this time.” She chuckled slightly, pushing her hair over her shoulder. “I’ve lived in this city my entire life, but I swear I only ever run into the people I know, it’s like there’s only fifty people in the city sometimes.”
emerson--davis:
♦
Emerson nodded with a smile. “Of course they do, I mean how can they not.” She giggled softly as she stepped inside. “And honestly he just loves it when you fuss over him. He told me.” She laughed, putting the dog down as she looked around the apartment noticing the small mess but not commenting on it. She’d certainly been in a similar way lately. “Good thing you are agreeing because I already ordered a pizza that is going to be delivered here.” She smirked, looking at Joey. “I just hope I can also be a good distraction.”
⁂
While Joey hadn’t been feeling up to company before Emerson had arrived, she certainly felt better now that she was there. The second Biscuit was placed on the floor, Joey knelt down to pet him, smiling as the dog eagerly tilted his head into her hand. “Of course you did.” She laughed, shaking her head slightly as she stood up once again. “I’m sure you will be, you’ve always been a good distraction for me.”

Being stuck in your own head, it normally wasn’t good for him but as of late, Preston was in…a good place. The only problem was that he hasn’t seen his sister in longer than he would have liked. Raising your siblings forces you to be close to one another and it was starting to feel like it’s been years since he’s last seen her. Though he wasn’t sure if she was at school or if she was working so, he went to Ace of Club and waited for her to text him back.
“Is this seat taken?” He asked offering the other a settle, friendly smile.
⁂
Joey was supposed to be home by now, but unfortunately there were a million messages on the instagram page, and Joey had needed Patrick to help her answer some of them. So now, she was sat at the bar with a drink that she had yet to touch in front of her, while she typed away on her phone. She hadn’t even noticed that someone was talking to her until she noticed the man standing in her peripheral vision. “Hmm?” The brunette looked up, looking at the seat and then back up at him with a smile. “Oh- No, you can sit there if you’d like.”
xander-medina:
When it came to people, Xander had always either been walked out on or been allowed to walk away. Nobody ever glanced his way and thought, ‘wow. you’re worth a fight.’ and if anything, he was always the one fighting for something or someone. However, there was a first time for everything, and this was that moment. Then, before Xander could properly process that action, Joey was speaking Spanish to him. Of all the languages to speak to him, Spanish was the one to get him right in the heart. At the moment, it wasn’t for a good reason. He felt nothing but weak and pain when he heard the language, and he hated the reason behind it. Of course, that wasn’t a reason he was going to tell Joey, and he certainly wasn’t about to let her know that she accidentally just punched him in the chest with those words more than she could ever imagine.
It was almost like he couldn’t breathe for a moment, so he stood in silence and just stared back at her. What was he supposed to do? He wasn’t about to shove her out of the way to leave, but he also knew that he was about to break in a lot of ways, and he did not want that to happen in front of Joey. Not when all she had ever known him to be was someone strong, someone, who could keep her safe when the time called for it, not someone who was about to shatter in front of her over something so small. “Joey, I…you speak Spanish?” He quietly asked, before adding, “..I..” he softly sighed, shoulders dropping, “..I don’t know what to do right now. I don’t want to fucking hurt you more than I already have, Joey. I’m not even in the right headspace to be in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean I want you waiting around for me until I am. I want you to live your life and be happy, you know? The way things were for you before our paths crossed. Porque no puedo amar en este momento. Ni siquiera me amo a mí mismo en este momento.”
⁂
The Spanish had been a last ditch effort on her part, because it was something she hadn’t used in a long time. Growing up, the girl spoke Spanish everyday at home with her parents, and after they died she refused to speak anymore. Not even with her grandparents. She still practiced, to make sure she never lost the ability to speak the language, but it wasn’t something she told anyone. In fact, if anyone asked her, she would typically lie and say that she’d never bothered learning. Which was why she understood how Xander must’ve been confused to hear the words come from her lips. “I do... I just haven’t since my parents died.”
Joey swallowed hard as he spoke. “I don’t want things to be like they were before I met you. The girl I was before I met you- She wasn’t happy. She was high all the time, surrounding herself by a fake entourage who did nothing but act like they were friends, when really they were just using me.” The younger woman never moved her gaze from his as she spoke, but she did move to take one of her hands in his. “I’m not saying we need to jump back into a relationship right away, I don’t want that. I just want a chance, even just a chance to take things slow...” Joey now looked down at their hands, sniffling slightly. “Tal vez hasta que recuerdes cómo amarte a ti mismo, mi amor puede ser suficiente para los dos.”

⁂
Joey smiled brightly as her very best friend pulled her into a hug. “I’ve been around, working on making sure my image is pristine as always.” The brunette told her, knowing she’d been hiding from her entire life lately, which meant she hadn’t seen her friend as much as she should’ve. “Oh come on, I’m not telling you my news right here. We have a news tradition that we need to upkeep, which means ice cream and a sleepover, so you better not have any plans tonight.”

It was no trouble for him to take a pause from cleaning to help a customer out. Wright Stuff Bakery was noted for having exceptional customer service, which set it apart from your average Starbucks. Not to mention the baked goods were to die for. Setting down his supplies he reached for her empty mug and asked the brunette, “What were you drinking? I’ll get you a new mug too.” Obviously he had to wash his hands and all that good stuff before fetching her a new beverage.
“And sure, no problem. I didn’t mean to interrupt your work. You seem to have a lot going on there,” he motioned to the technology set up she had. Most people took advantage of the free wifi to do work or what have you. “Joey, right?” He asked politely with a smile.
⁂
“Oh, thanks.” Joey smiled brightly, she knew Wright Stuff had always had great service, it was why she went there more often than anywhere else. “I was drinking a chai latte, but I’d be happy with just a plain coffee now.” She told him, not wanting to get anything too complicated. The woman looked over her set up, sighing slightly at the mess of cords and devices she had spread over the table. “The life of an influencer, I have phones and laptops for work and personal life.” She looked up at him when he asked her name. “Yeah, that’s me.”

Lily was having a rare day off and the happiness she felt was radiating off her as soon as she woke up, sleeping in for the first time since being in the city. It only took a few moments for her stepping around the apartment to realize that it was just her and Penny, which was more than fine to her as she walked into the kitchen. She placed her phone down playing some music, and worked around the kitchen to make herself a late breakfast. Lily was lost in getting ingredients together taking frequent dance breaks with the puppy that circled her feet. The music along with her own singing clouded the sound of the door being opened, but it was only the sound of someone else calling for Penny and the puppy going towards the front door that knitted Lily’s brows in confusion. She worked to pause the music and stepped to find Joey standing in front of her. “I should be asking you that? How do you know Penny?” she inquired back a bit lost at Joey even being here. “Do you know Xander?” she continued that being the only explanation.
⁂
Joey felt as if she were glued to her spot, part of her wanted to turn on the spot and just leave, but the tiny paws on her legs reminded her why she was there. “I-I yeah.” The brunette nodded, quickly glancing down at Penny and smiling before looking back up at Lily. “He’s my ex-boyfriend- Well- It’s a lot more complicated than that really... But the easy explanation would be ex-boyfriend.” Joey could feel herself starting to ramble, and she forced her mouth shut so she’d stop. Though that only worked for a second. “He told me I could come by to see Penny whenever I wanted, and I just wanted to come take her for a walk. He didn’t tell me that you’d be here though... I uh- I can go.”

“You should always listen to me, Joey. I’m your Asian fairy godmother or that little cricket bitch that told the puppet what to do.” Margot said with a smile. She laughed as Joey did at her antics, glad that she could lighten her friend’s mood at least a little bit. She knew that the younger woman had been having a hell of a hard time lately and wanted to nip that shit in the bud the best that she could. “Not long, baby cakes. That’s my spitballing low estimate.” She replied, not being one to bury the lead as she eyed the woman that she knew could make it big in her business. “Oh, you sweet naive darling. It’s not your ass that you’re selling, it’s the mere idea of it. That’s the kind of power you hold, baby girl. A thing of dreams and desires, which is exactly why you work those angles on your insta. Can’t fool me, xiao Jo.” Margot said with a sly smile, now using her nails to pull apart the rest of her danish and pop it into her mouth piece by piece.
⁂
“Okay, you are definitely more like my fairy godmother than you are like Jiminy Cricket.” Joey laughed again, her dour mood was already getting lifted the more time she spent with Margot, the older woman really was such a good friend to her. The brunettes eyes widened slightly as the other told her she was merely spitballing at a number. The younger woman made a decent amount with her social media career, but sometimes she did think that if she added a bit more income, maybe she’d have a bit more fun. “I don’ work any-” Joey started to protest, but she knew Margot was right. Joey posed herself in a way that showed off her body without being too revealing. “Maybe I should get and OnlyFans account or something.” She told her, only slightly joking.

Isabella wasn’t one to be invested in celebrities or influencers, having lived the lifestyle in her first year of getting big and it was her least favourite time. She felt like her anxiousness increased with trying to read everyone’s true intentions, and if the way they were being with her was genuinely how they felt. It was easy to write off the entire group with that professions but she was entirely glad that Joey proved her wrong. She’d followed her on social media for some time and was genuinely surprised that there wasn’t much disconnect between her online and real life persona. She was proven all the more right as Joey’s words filled the night air with their honesty. “You’re not alone in that. Feels like wild shit keeps happening in the city even faster than before,” she turned to look at her before following suit in raising her head towards the sky. “Wanna talk, I’ve been self-deemed the best listener on earth!” her tone teetering between sincere and teasing.
⁂
Joey nodded slightly, glad she wasn’t alone in the feeling that life seemed to make no sense anymore. “While normally, I’d love to talk-” Joey let out a soft sigh. “I feel like I have done so much talking lately that I just can’t talk about my on life anymore.” She told her friend, leaning back slightly. “So can you just distract me with tales of your own life? The excitement of being a ballet dancer in New York?” She grinned.

Marcus had been trying to do everything he could to take his mind off of Xander kissing Jen. He could see it in his head, him getting close to her, leaning in… He knew that Jen wouldn’t and didn’t kiss him back, but what if she was accidently leading him on? Shaking his head from his thoughts, he walked inside a bar far enough away from Ace and anywhere he could find Xander in Royals territory and sat himself down at the end of the bar. Quickly ordering himself a glass of whiskey, he kept his hood up just in case. It wasn’t long until he saw someone sliding into the seat beside him and before getting up to move away, he realized that it was Joey. “Hey, Joey…what are you doin’ here?”
⁂
After everything life had been throwing at her lately, it was no surprise that Joey once again found herself out at a bar. This time choosing one where she was almost certain she wouldn’t be seeing anyone she knew, meaning she wouldn’t need to talk about all the shit that was hurting her. The hardest part was being there alone, especially when the cravings would hit. She promised Xander she would never do it again though, and she intended on keeping that promise. She was walking out of the bathroom, having gone in to splash some water on her face as a distraction, when she noticed a familiar face at the bar. One who was probably there feeling just as shitty as she was, which was why she decided to go sit with him. “Hiding.” She laughed gently. “Which I’m going to guess is probably why you’re here too.”
