Were were hanging out yesterday, talking about Linux (it was mostly me yapping about stuff that he clearly didn't understand and him askin me What If's) when I mentioned FSF. He didn't know what FSF was, so he asked me to elaborate. I then proceeded to tell him the history of FSF and what it advocates for. I think he got intrigued. And he did agree with the FSF morals!! Might try to change his political views next, since unfortunatly I live in a country that would be rather alt right on the US political compass

My dad just gave me a flash drive. Before giving it to me, he plugged it in and formatted it. I tried to tell him that I could format it myself to a format I'll need, but he refused. Told me he needed to destroy the files. I got curious. Luckly for me, he did a fast format instead of a full one. You can definetly see where this is going. It's CRIME TIME!!! The instant I got home, I plugged it into Computery and started the imagerec magic. There were some bits of a PDF file that were, unfortunatly, unrecoverable (a PDF file or 2 got shredded and molten and shredded again, turning into a dozen monster files, forever unrecoverable. Most of the files were fine tho

Accidentally nuked my dad's Linux installation by shrinking the partition before shrinking the FS. Stuff happens. Luckly he hadn't installed anything important on Linux yet, so he just accepted the reinstallation

Just did my part in making the year of Linux desktop come true. I convinced my bio dad to install Linux. He's still in the dualboot phase, but he seems intrested in Linux. Probably never gonna reach Arch/Gentoo/LFR since he is fairly old and fairly tech illiterate but he is gonna rock that Mint/Pop installation. Just gotta convince mom and step dad next, which I feel like will be way harder, considering I vented to them about my Linux struggles and they probably think all Linux is hacky hacker OS

For example, you can grab headphones with a female AUX port, grab a USB C to AUX converter, add a USB to USB C converter, chain in there an ethernet to USB connector and top it all off with an ethernet cable plugged into your router so you can listen to the internet
