Community Spotlight: John Dermot Woods — Radix Media

John Dermot Woods is a writer and cartoonist based in Brooklyn. In this Community Spotlight, he talks about pursuit versus discovery in storytelling.

Had a chance to chat with Lantz Arroyo, my neighborhood printer, publisher, and community organizer about my book he'll be publishing in a few months. It's called ALWAYS BLUE and I'm confident it'll look beautiful because Lantz is making it. (I hope folks like the story and pictures inside too.) It'll be the first book in a sci-fi series called FUTURES that the folks at Radix will be publishing over the next couple of months.

I've wanted to make an animated movie for a long time. And thanks to the talents of David Leo Rice, that's happened. We're pretty proud of these four minutes (and pretty psyched that our hero Guy Maddin digs our rookie effort). The movie features the haunting music of Ben Cosgrove and the golden throat of Guy Benjamin Brookshire.

My friend invited me to lunch on the roof of Whole Foods. I hesitated but went for it. Thank God.
